Just like telegram is a ground hole of scammers same applies to Facebook too, I can recall many times I have been tried to scammed but all attempt resulted to failure because these scams are now very common and only a fooled person and greedy person might fall for these scams. As telegram scams no be only crypto scammers dey there, dem get so many line of scammers for that platform and every one using it is a potential target so be very careful with this platform.

Telegram has been the home of scammers for a very long time, once i see any messages coming from unknown people the only thing i do is report and block, have not experienced any scam from Facebook, but the most annoying one is that of telegram, popular stories they come up with is just to lame how do you come with stories of making a huge profit and the start showing you evidence and trying to convince you even trying to call you to make it real, and some scammers use to act like support and use it as a tool to have access to people's wallet we should always be conscious.

As an investor whether a newbie or not you should know that the first thing you do upon investing in a project is to do a research on that project to know the team behind the project not just the team, finding out if truly the team they claim to be are genuine or aware of the project just as you have said that most of the team members are just fabricated to get at unsuspecting participants to scam.

Connecting of your wallet to a site which you have no knowledge about is dependent of you. If you choose to connect the wallet with your funds then it is left for you because as a smart investors you should know that creating a fresh new wallet should be the option.

Already we knows how the industry looks like, is not like any other place where your investment is guaranteed or secured because investment that follows with cryptocurrency is pron to a higher risk why because there's no one or institution that could stand for your investment. Then I would love to say we should try our best abstain from over hyped projects they mostly comes with scamming intentions or even wanting to lure more investor of borrowing money to invest in their project due to fake promises, the only way to invest is just go directly to one of the reputable exchange and pick any coin you know that worth investing than just wasting our resources in the name of joining the early bids.

In some cases like this one, some projects go ask you to connect your wallet to some kind of site they created for you to redeem rewards or get your coins. Don’t connect your wallet to any site that is not reputable, even though they attract you with good offers. It’s very dangerous and you might lose all your coins in that wallet.

These are very good points you listed above mate on the basic tips how to identify a crypto scam, and I think this should be a must read for all crypto newbies on and off this forum, as it acts as a guide on how to staying safe and not losing our money to scammers. Because one thing about scammers is that just as the day goes by so are they improving on their scamming method to be able to successfully scam people off their funds, and that's why we crypto users need to take proactive means so as to protect our funds and invest only in Bitcoin and no other cryptocurrencies that may seem very promising at it's early stage.

Airdrops na one of the easy way for scammers to get people wey dem go scam because we too like free things, na why scammers they use the airdrop to get some of our vital information to do their job.
Most times, people go tell you say them make am through Airdrops which is a past glory because 99% of Airdrops now no de pay, instead they waste your time and still look for way to scam you join.

But I must add this in as much as we need to keep our passwords and other personal important details secret, but we should try to speak to members we trust about any link been sent concerning crypto, ask questions about anything we don't understand, not everything should be kept a secret because it's not every link or everyone on crypto that's a scammer, some link might be real and some people are real too, that's my little advice, ask questions make thorough investigations before conclusion, don't miss good opportunities just because you are scared of scammers..

My question is this, what if the link asked to click on is from a friend asking for you to register on a site? How do I confirm if the site is legit and not for scam purposes?

I have thought of using a separate mail address from my Binance apps and other crypto apps I use, but I fear if the email can be coined and remodelled to penetrate my accounts.

You are right. Sometimes it might be from friends and family members. That was how a friend of mine unknowingly sent me a phishing link on Whatsapp to register for Npower. I quickly noticed it, drew his attention to it and asked him to delete the message from the DMs of the persons he has sent it to and also warn them not to click the link.

One of the most common phishing scam in Nigeria is done in WhatsApp and that is Sporty bet adder, any investment or update from an unknown person from WhatsApp are scam. WhatsApp has been the most common social media for scam in Nigeria lately but is only greedy Nigerians that would fall like the WhatsApp TV that would post send 5k to get 10k.
Lastly, never try buying cryptocurrency or anything from those WhatsApp vendors if you don't really know them.
