You left out the most important component: the Jalapeno is 6 months late. You could have mined 50 BTC in that time with 5GH/s.

Have you not heard the expression "better late than never"
Yep. It is indeed better than never.

A friend of mine bought a one bedroom apartment as an investment "off the plan" ie. when it was still a vacant block. He forked out hundreds of thousands of dollars sight unseen, the builders used the money to build the apparent block as expected, projected timelines were missed, it took years, but eventually it was completed, so he was happy. He could have argued that he missed out on rent for all that period it was being built. This is a pretty normal situation when you pre-order something that hasn't been built yet.

If he was going to rent out the apartment, then he did indeed miss out quite a lot of money. Years of revenue lost.
I hope your friend doesn't get ripped off like that again.

anyone who paid with BTC in June 2012 for the MiniRig could have had $560,000 instead today had they just held BTC.

Hang on, minirig is doesn't exist yet, last announced was case redesign for a single, then the is the big single then the minirig. I would guess minirig prototype is 4-6 months away, so by then it could be $1million dollars!

It will be Valve time from here on out if I have my way.

Funny but Valve time is not exactly a positive indicator:

Valve Time: The expanded time Valve uses when talking about anything that will involve them working. Like a new york minute, but in reverse. The conversion factor is approximately 2-6 times whatever the stated interval is.

So its official take whatever time was announced and multiply it by 2 to 6 times.  Grin

lol so BFL finally is delivering bait and switch products now 7 months late.

Go for it and pat yourselves on the back BFL. LOL Big Fucking Liars.

anyone who paid with BTC in June 2012 for the MiniRig could have had $560,000 instead today had they just held BTC.

BFL has reamed their customers despite shipping "A" product that missed power specs by multiple factors and late by 6+ months.

so fail...but bask in your glory of goating BFL supporters lol. You know who you are. ROFL!

"YES WE FINALLY GET OUR PREORDERS, WHO CARES THAT WHAT I SENT BFL COULD HAVE NETTED ME MORE THAN HALF A MILLION DOLLARS, I GET LOST OPPORTUNITY COST + BFL SHINY BRANDING TO MAKE IT UP"

But but but it's meant to be a scam! How can they ship!? The ASICs aren't real !!!

So those are 4.5 GH/s USB powered Jalapenos that people ordered, or are they baited and switched to some other inferior product?

Haha I knew something like this was coming. I mentioned the goalpost shifting in another thread. "It's a scam because there's no ASICs" has become "It's a scam because they missed their power targets".

The thing is that the original 4.5GHs unit has become 5GHs (5.3GHS actually)  and nobody gives a rats (except the critics) that it pulls 30watts. Some people care that the case is bigger, I like the cube shape myself, reminds me of the Borg.

Here is the currently estimated timeline, and while this is subject to change of course, it's pretty solid at this time. Completed items are crossed off:

Week of January 13th
Travel to packaging facility for final prep and walkthrough - Complete
Confirm travel plans and trip details with lead ASIC engineer for trip to fab - Complete

Week of January 20th
Final assembly facility prep - In progress

Week of January 26th
Leave for fab/bumping facility at the end of the week
KC facility starts assembly process of units to drop PCB into Units being prepped!

Week of February 3rd
Final chips roll off the line
Arrive at Bumping facility
Chips Bumped
Arrive California for Packaging (May spill into following week)
Chips packaged

Week of February 10th
Packaged chips sent to assembly house
Assembled PCB is set for final testing and MCU programming
Notify users to start sending their FPGA units or BTC for trade in participants
Bulk assembled PCBs arrive in KC, we start dropping PCBs into waiting units
Boxing/labeling for shipment
We implement the 1/3 shipping plan en mass
1/3 of our assembled units will go to new orders in FIFO
1/3 of our assembled units will go to upgrade orders
1/3 will be randomly selected from both groups

We descend upon the Post Office like horde of angry locust. DHL, UPS and FedEx send trucks.

Indeed, you can be sure it won't be happening again if I have anything to say about it.  The ship dates were announced before I came on board with BFL and going forward, unless I am explicitly overridden, we will not be making any shipping date commitments.  It will be Valve time from here on out if I have my way.

Looks like the PO is going to be overwhelmed by the swarm of locust.

6 out of 33000 Grin We should get a post going "my Order# is" and "I received on date" to estimate their manufacturing throughput. I think it would be most scientific method since they really can't commit to any concrete estimates.

BFL is the least of my worries, I'm more worried about ASICMINER.

Anyways, that's why I did the whole group buy thing... less risk on my side.

If the Avalons don't make any money, I lose 7 BTC... big whoop.

Nice try tho  Tongue

You've been a hater from day 1, I wouldn't expect you to change your tone:

this is crazy. people cant give their money/btc fast enough to this guy... this has epic fail written all over it. i really hope your batch 3 shipments arrive well before bfl's 'product'

tldr; btc NEVER goes down in price, avalon batch 3 will ship long before bfl, pep's have more dollars than cents.

gl coinhorder, hope to never have to see that scammer tag under your handle...

Nice way to downplay the bait-and-switch scam. They weren't just "targets". They were "honest abe", guaranteed, power levels. They didn't ship what they guaranteed they would ship. Classic Bait And Switch SCAM.
