New website is up Grin

There are still a few things to do, but it's close enough to completion to go live as far as I'm concerned.

To-do list:
-Create a compact newsletter sign-up box in footer
-Expand FAQ (with help of the community)
-Update the charity page and news section with the Kairos Childrens Fund (I've asked them if they have an official logo)
-Implement some efficiency to make the website load faster
-Implement community feedback

Everyone: thanks for your trust and patience. Any constructive feedback is very much welcome!

https://www.biblepay.org

Great homepage, looks very good.

Small note: The Download maybe should be more obvious, don't think that everybody will undestand that it is placed behind "Wallets" Smiley  Newcomers might not understand the meaning behind "Wallets" here.

Dash solves the same problem by putting it into "Get Dash", before the tips how to get the Coins Smiley

Maybe it should also not be named "Get BBP", as it might not be clear for a newcommer what "BBP" means. We all know it, but a brand new user might be confused Grin

Thanks for the feedback Licht Smiley

We tried to have two 'paths' when you first land on the website. You can choose 'I'm new to cryptocurrency' or 'I'm a crypto guru'. The idea was that choosing the first option takes you through the basics of what a cryptocurrency is (and also the basics of what BiblePay is). So, after reading that page, you should know what 'BBP' stands for and what a wallet is.

Good remark about the wallet downloads. If you only put 'downloads' there, people might not realize it's for the wallets. I could name it 'download wallet', but that's a big too long for the menu-bar perhaps.

I'm going to think about it a bit...

So are you suggesting a 'download wallet' link in the 'Get BBP' menu? That would also not be a problem.

PODC wallet crashed some times
MN wallets crashed some times

any ideas?

Rob, all is OK? thanks: cos more ppl got problems with 1136

I think it's just the superblock-bug. All wallets that have been released in the past few weeks have been wallets for testnet. I don't think that any changes have been made to the prod-version.

Woah we got to PODC block 55555 solved it
and then jumped through 55556 to 55612 super fast! like 5-6 minutes!

I think because of the 2days taken for the superblock, the algo adjusts the incoming blocks to try and "catch up"

this means the difficulty for the backed-up blocks was extremely low.  We should more or less be on track now

So I've had this happen once before and can't remember what I did to fix it....

After restarting my sancs post-crash, all but one went to "ENABLED" pretty quickly. One has been stuck in "PRE_ENABLED" for about 4-5 hours now. I tried issuing a "start alias" again 90 minutes ago or so to no avail. I can't remember for the life of me how I fixed this before, but I think last time it happened it was "PRE_ENABLED" for something like 18 hours, and wouldn't fix itself...anyone remember what to do with a stuck node?

Jaap, this is great! Fantastic work, it is a very mature looking presentation that is also information-rich and engaging. I like it a lot.

Thanks! Of course, April, Togo and Thomas have also helped Smiley

Now a small problem remains in my wallet: it shows the correct transactions in the "transactions" tab, but on the overview under "recent transactions" there are only a handfull of old ones (the latest from more than a week ago). Is there a quick way to fix this? Restarting the wallet didn't help. Otherwise I would make a reindex, which should solve the problem.

Try -zapwallettxes
Thank you, but that didn't help. I also tried every other repair option (zap2, rescan, reindex..) and even started from a clean core folder (only with wallet.dat), but no success. Since it's only a "cosmetic" error I'll just leave it for now and maybe wait for another QT-wallet update. Maybe it will somehow miracilously resolve itself. Wink

I'm more concerned with split chains but [checkpoints] can help mitigate 51% attacks.

I think this part may have proven to be a misconception, see this answer by Pieter Wuille, it's an interesting read. Your answer is still good sunk818, I just wanted to share something I learned recently and supplement our knowledge. As Jaap said - learning every day. Smiley

For small altcoins, I think having biblepay.org be checkpoint server is not a bad idea.

I'm trying to understand what you're saying. Could you explain in more detail please?

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1797/what-are-checkpoints

The concept is, that the standard client will accept all transactions up to the checkpoint as valid and irreversible. If anyone tries to fork the blockchain starting from a block before the checkpoint, the client will not accept the fork. This makes those blocks "set in stone". Checkpoints are then broadcast live to the network from a central node (if designed to do so by the dev). All clients will then stick to that checkpointed chain.

This is controversial because it removes decentralization to some degree...  I'm more concerned with split chains but it can help mitigate 51% attacks. Not worried about 51% attacks though because Rob A. implemented all these safeguards in layers with PoDC, requiring unique CPIDs, etc.

...however that was even possible. Cheesy

Nice, so it seems to have sorted itself out again. I even got the PODC payment, so it seems like the 25 hour window between the PODC updates was no problem this time because it was way more than 25 hours between those 2 superblocks.

Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
For small altcoins, I think having biblepay.org be checkpoint server is not a bad idea.

After this superblock we wont need it at all; it was used and semi useful in POS, but with our POW base we wont need it.

Its also far better for decentralization to not have it.
