I don't give it much thought to be honest. You only have one birthday and that's the day you were born. All the succeeding years aren't really that special. It's all in the mind lol. Though i think it's important to celebrate birthdays for kids. It's for them, same as christmas and new years. The older i get the more disconnected i feel from all these lol.

It is our culture being asian that birthday must be celebrated at all cost even in smaller amount that can buy pasta or small cakes but what’s important is the thought that birthmust be celebrated no matter what

I don't celebrate my birthday ever since I turned 18. During my birthdays my parents wanted to have a birthday cake and foods. Since, I'm old enough now, I want money and I request for them just to give me a 200 dollars for my birthday.

Not specially.
Usually I just buy some cakes and offer to my friends at work and it's all.
Yes, we are growing older and it's nothing we can do it about it.
But, in my opinion, it's nice to at least make some celebration and make happy people around you.

You know sometimes I wonder if I haven't give myself enough happiness but then I realized that a celebration of my birth doesn't need to have a lot of people or a lot of food or new clothes. We all have different needs and want in life. It's just matters when you are contented to what you have. I enjoy solitude in front of my PC not because I wouldn't need to deal with social people because I deal with them through the net.
