Thank you Karl, for reminding us about Laszlo Hanyecz's big step into the unknown ...and him becoming a legend in the Bitcoin community.
Just an interesting thing I observed, while I was reading his thread....
1. He did not just pay 10,000 bitcoins for 2 pizzas ...
once.... he did it several times in the 3 months after that.
Quote from Lazlo "
Well I didn't expect this to be so popular but I can't really afford to keep doing it since I can't generate thousands of coins a day anymore Thanks to everyone who bought me pizza already but I'm kind of holding off on doing any more of these for now."
2. The 10,000 bitcoin was worth about $41 at the time.
Quote from @ender_x :
" 10,000... Thats quite a bit.. you could sell those on
https://www.bitcoinmarket.com/ for $41USD right now..
good luck on getting your free pizza."
Quote from @ribuk => "Will this eventually become the world's first million-dollar pizza?"
No @ribuk, it became the world's first multi million dollar pizzas! (Worth almost $300 000 000 today)
x "the amount of times he had done that in the following 3 months.
