Hi Rassah,

………

I'm leaning towards "no" since we're not exactly a money making machine. Thought maybe this will help us become one? Comments?

I lean to "no", too. He may have you on the show for free but I would strongly suggest not to divert any of the donations towards ads.

I think that an ad campaign is a fantastic idea.  Maybe a banner ad here on the forum at least, if not that radio spot in particular.  I've been poking around the forums for a while now, and just heard about this project.  I think a bit of advertising might do the trick nicely.  Even very frugal non-profits budget money for fundraising expense.  Recruiting donors is a necessary part of doin' good in my opinion.

Yes, it was a while ago, but just recently I learned about Bitcoin 100.

I also convinced Maddy's Run (CdLS Foundation) to accept Bitcoin donations!

Hi Rassah,

My name is Brian Sovryn and I'm a host on the nationally syndicated radio program and podcast Free Talk Live.  I wanted to get in touch with you about advertising with the show as I think our audience would be very interested in Bitcoin100 as we have one of the largest bitcoin listenerships in the world.  We have radio prices that are very low and unmatched in the industry, and we also accept Bitcoin as payment.  In fact right now we are having a sale in August where all radio ad packages (not live reads) are half price!  That means that :30 second ads are now only $15 per ad, and :60 second ads are only $30 per ad.  Hope to hear from you soon, I'd personally love to have Bitcoin100 advertising on Free Talk Live, and would love to work out an ad package with you!

I want to make sure you have some info. Free Talk Live is  on 110+ stations, 2 XM channels, has been named to the top of the list of Up and Coming Radio Personalities by the Publisher of TALKERS Magazine, and has ad packages from $600 to $6000 a month. We were also just named the #47 Talk Show in the Nation.

Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending
I just received a PM from steelboy (a user on this forum) and he has given me permission to copy and paste the following:

Quote
Hi Phin, don't know if you remember me from the instawallet thread.

Now that my coins are safely back in my wallet I have started a BTC business based in the UK.

The website is under construction right now but our twitter page is up and running. You might notice the big gap over the last few months where i lost quite a lot of heart during the instawallet stuff. :/ Anyway, we are up and running again and are looking at selling our first physical coins at a London meetup tomorrow night at The Pembury Tavern in Hackney, London's first BTC accepting pub.

Bobsbitcoins will pledge 5% of any profits from the sale of physical coins over August, September & October to the bitcoin100 program.

If you feel like tweeting about that that would be great and will help raise awareness of us too.

Not really sure what to expect but i know there are going to be buyers there and i am sure we will be the cheapest so let's see how it goes.

I will get back to you on Tuesday to tell you how we do.

James

If at all possible, please consider supporting Bitcoin by supporting James, and other bitcoiners, at The Pembury Tavern in Hackney meetup tomorrow. If Bitcoin 100 happens to earn a few bitcents from the endeavour, the better, thus allowing some future NPO to enjoy the fruits of the labor.

Thank you, James, for thinking about Bitcoin 100, and here's to hoping the meetup is a success.

Hello Rassah,
How are you?

Can I recommend a 501c3 non profit for the Bitcoin100 donation?  There is a group that I am trying to get to start using Bitcoin that is in the process of creating their "BTC donate" button.

Generation Green empowers citizens to voice their concerns and implement earth saving actions. Through heightened awareness we encourage wise choices that ensure sustainable living and the preservation of the environment.

Since 1990, Generation Green (a 501c3) has sought to inform and encourage environmental action in CCC. Generation Green has hosted dozens of workshops and attended countless events. Our efforts have reached all segments of the community. From local arts and crafts classes to attendance at City Council meetings—our goal is to educate all residents in the county about environmental issues.

I just wanted to run it by you first before they set up they start accepting BTC.  What is the best process for them to follow to qualify for the Bitcoin100 donation?

Thanks!

August

Not sure what to make of this one. Thoughts?

I'm leaning heavily yes. Not sure what your concerns, if any, may be, Rassah.

Got a bump reminder about this. I guess I should go ahead and send them money?

No red flags jumped out at me. I vote "yes".

SSDP

I'm leaning toward a yes. Rassah, edd and Jason can publically weigh in on their feelings prior to having SSCP moving forward in having a Bitcoin donation option embedded onto their website.

Yes for me too.

Of course all this is predicated on whether or not SSDP opts to embed a Bitcoin donation option onto their website.

We're talking about the national organization now, right?

I'm happy with donating to either but, if I understood Red Emerald correctly, it's not possible to donate directly to the Chapter; donations must go through the University. So either the SSDP Foundation or the University must have a Bitcoin donation option in order for this to work and I was under the impression that the SSDP Foundation has not been contacted yet.
