So recently, I have been watching a lot of films with the (paid) Fox movies application and other ways.
Struck with some movies adding bitcoin and the blockchain in their scripts and plots.
People are seeing it now even in Hollywood.

1. The Hustle.
Penny Rust (Rebel Wilson) trying to payback Thomas for the medical expenses in bitcoin.
She even stated how much the transaction fee is. It was really funny.
Cannot find a better clip but here is one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fk9Xd9lkR4 go to 2:35.
Credits to the owner.

2. Charlie's Angels (2019)
"you can forget nano-tech. Forget AI. Forget cryptocurrency. Quantum energy is the future."

If you have some to share, please do. Even those with just a little part in the script.
Not the old ones though as I know there is already one thread for that.
Also, if I am in the wrong section, please correct me.

Movies can be a start for a good revolution. A lot of movies such as those which involve different races made people realize their talent and their rights. Those which involve emotions and feelings made people cry. Similarly, mentioning Bitcoin, Blockchain, and/or Cryptocurrency, especially in mainstream and famous movies, can catch the attention of viewers especially those non-Bitcoin users. It is good to know that the directors behind these movies are aware of what Bitcoin can do. If they are mentioned in the story, there is a tendency for people to enter the world of Bitcoin.

This TV series Almost Human came out in 2013 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sXcxP6LuYk

It has one of the earliest mentions I can think of from film and TV. It's set in 2048 or something and they use 'Bitcoin sticks' to do contactless payment type things.

Wow, this has to be a winner. I think even the Simpson's one is 2014. Or was it Futurama now? The first time I heard Bitcoin was a year before that in Pakistan actually and on one of the really local state television too. It was all in Urdu and someone translated for me, but apparently some people were seriously into it (p2p exchange).

Funny that in the TV show they thought it would need that long to come up with contactless Bitcoin payments!

Thanks for the list I don't even noticed that bitcoin was mentioned on Ant-Man and the Wasp I might rewatch the whole movie, Lol. I have seen several TV series too either mentioning bitcoin or bitcoin logo is shown if I am not mistaken it is "Money Heist". Bitcoin is really getting some exposure with this TV series and movies it is good for bitcoin to get free promotion.

Actually it was just "cryptocurrency" word which was said in Ant-Man and the Wasp. It was just for a moment and was said once in the script of Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins in real life).
It might be short but it made repeat the whole movie.  Grin It was lined among AI and nanotechnology.

TV series though. I hate watching them. Once I did, I start getting hooked by it until I finish it. Like GOT, TWD and more.
I hate waiting for one more year for the continuation. I want something that can be finished in jut 2 hours or 3. Depends.

I appreciate the fact that you did some research about BTC being mentioned in movies, but why should we care about this?
I'm not interested into watching movies and Hollywood produces lots of shitty and mediocre movies nowadays.
Why not turning to another big part of the pop culture-like  rap music. Grin
Bitcoin is mentioned by a few rappers in their songs.I remember that Royce Da 5'9 mentioned it in one song.
I am interested in this comment. Well, everyone has their own interests, right? anyone likes movies, music, drama, etc. When one of the entertainment media quotes about cryptocurrency, it will definitely be interesting for crypto enthusiasts, right? That's a sign that cryptocurrency is increasingly becoming a common thing that many people know, especially Hollywood films that have many fans on an international scale.
Of course, music is good for media dissemination of information, but I say once again, everyone has their own interests Smiley Maybe for the next opportunity you can provide a list of popular songs that contain cryptocurrency elements Cheesy

If you do the right search using several different words, you will get better results, but it is better for you to ask about a particular film or topic and then members can help you find the best solution or proposal. Filmmakers use all possible tricks to reach an audience, and crypto is generally portrayed as something negative, and I think it's more dangerous than good with this kind of promotion. I won't even mention the superficiality and inaccuracy that is part of artistic freedom, so sometimes it seems quite funny, like kids talking about crypto in their childish ways. I appreciate the fact that you are doing research about BTC mentioned in the film But why should we care about this?

Do you really think I am not reading every reply in my thread?

This is plagiarism in its best. Wow.
Quoted for reference.

You just combined posts from different users.

Well IMO, it's better that the public knows about some of these things generally even if these movies are not specifically pertaining to bitcoin. The human mind is curious enough to ask questions even from a single intriguing sentence without having some references to create a contextual passage. Forget about the hate on mainstream movies and media in general for as long as they are stimulating the curiosity of the viewers, it's all okay.

Oh and The Hustle is quite a good recommendation though I never really dig the ending.

Check Dope (2015)

Also what I was about to reference. Bitcoin's not just mentioned in passing either, it's the key method for the kids to escape suspicion (of course as inaccurate as you'd like but other movies have done worse).

My contribution to this is unfortunately not a Hollywood movie, but a Malay movie in 2018. KL Special Force.

Subs are in English, but it's hilarious. A cliche of suitcase containing... Bitcoin.

I watch a lot of movies, too, and I have yet to stumble across a single one where bitcoin is even mentioned--but then again, I don't tend to watch comedies or spy/thriller/action movies and might not have discovered any of these on my own.
Happens when you finished watching all the box office movies and then nothing else to watch but you don't want to waste the premium from Fox, Netflix and Disney.  Grin
Some of them will not be mentioned in a trailer or for marketing it. You have to literally watch the whole movie even if they are getting boring.  Grin

Of the 3 movies you listed, I had only watch 2 the number 2 and number 3.
I also like to add, bitcoin or block AFAIR was also mentioned in Ant Man and the Wasp Movie, I've watch this movie and liked what I saw.
They are also talking about it here - https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/8x2nl4/cryptocurrency_mentioned_in_ant_man_and_the_wasp/
What!??
I watched that movie for like 2 times and yet I didn't noticed that. Perhaps it was mentioned when I peed but, I did it twice?  Grin
Thank you man!!! I will be watching this again later.

Edit:
Tried to research because of excitement.
Here is the dialogue.

2. Charlie's Angels (2019)
Quote
Elena Houghlin (Naomi Scott) is a scientist, engineer and inventor of Calisto -- a sustainable energy source that will revolutionize the way people use power. But when the cutting edge technology falls into the wrong hands, Elena turns to the Townsend Agency for help. Now, it's up to the Angels -- Jane, Sabina and the newly recruited Elena -- to retrieve Calisto before it can be transformed into a weapon of mass destruction.
Thanks to google.

“All my character talked about was blockchain, and I remember I went in and Liz Banks [director] is so smart…she was explaining it to me, and I was not getting it.”

Naomi continues, “She got a piece of paper out and was drawing a diagram. I was like ‘she’s going to recast me because I don’t know what blockchain is’…to this day, I don’t know what blockchain means.” LOL!

3. Crypto (2019)
Director: John Stalberg Jr.
This, I haven't watched yet. Trying to get a copy of the film.

These tell we in the crypto space that, Bitcoin and blockchain really have good potentials in the financial ecosystem. Is just the matter of time and people truly understanding bitcoin as a financial entity rather than just an investment asset. The implementation of bitcoin and blockchain in movies will help people to somehow understand this technology. We need to see this kinda movies more to help the introduction of bitcoin and blockchain to more individuals.

The fact that someone mentions the BTC or blockchain in film, doesn't mean the movie is really good and worth the hour and a half or more of my time. Movie makers use all possible tricks to reach audiences, and crypto is generally portrayed as something negative, and I think it does more harm than good with this kind of promotion. I won't even mention the superficiality and inaccuracy that is part of some artistic freedom, so sometimes it seems pretty funny, like kids talking about crypto in their childish manner.

Why limit yourself to just 3 movies/series, check this (last updated March 2019) : [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear

Thanks for the list and synopses, OP.  I'll have to write these down in my little notebook so I don't forget.

I watch a lot of movies, too, and I have yet to stumble across a single one where bitcoin is even mentioned--but then again, I don't tend to watch comedies or spy/thriller/action movies and might not have discovered any of these on my own.

You'd think bitcoin might be an interesting plot device that could be used in action movies, but apparently Hollywood either hasn't thought of it or doesn't agree with my opinion.  Usually screenwriters incorporate at least some contemporary culture references in their work, and it isn't like bitcoin is still some unknown thing at this point.  Hopefully in the future we'll start seeing bitcoin/crypto at least being mentioned in movies.  It would appeal to me and a lot of other people, too.

Someone else had a list like OP's, but they were all non-Hollywood movies from European countries if I recall correctly.  I should have written those down, too, but I don't think I'd even have access to them.

My wife is watching The Good Wife,a TV Show about layers and politician , BTW it's very good despite the title.
There were 2-3 episodes mentioning crypto currency. In of of the episodes there were looking for Satoshi, and they found him Cheesy, the other one was for the Silk Road and the dark web, almost like the Ross' story.
It's a good show, trust me Smiley

You can watch Hacker, although it was a very short script where mentioned bitcoin. Bitcoin was mentioned for using as a payment system in their illegal activities. Although that's a bad move, I think it was good for bitcoin in general.

most of the time, bitcoin or crypto is portrayed in negative perspective, this is the reason why those who don't have any idea with crypto, will have the notion that dealing with crypto would put someone in the bad light. but I think that perception is changing now as many known companies are starting to support crypto and blockchain technology.

and by the way, the movie that the OP mentioned - Crypto, I hope he will not be disappointed afterwards. watched that movie and I'd say, it is not well represented of how crypto life is. But anyway, we have different outlook in films.  enjoy!
