Hal, amazing story, thanks for posting this here.

Let's keep one thing in mind: Stephen Hawking was 21 when he was first diagnosed with ALS.  At the time doctors gave him a life expectancy of two years.

He's now 71, and apparently has accomplished quite a bit since that diagnosis.

Don't let it slow you down either.

Very moving and inspirational story, Hal. You know what? I somehow envy you, many of us working in academia have the dream of seeing our pet projects go big and become something truly beneficial to the human race, you have such privileges.

Best of luck and may the force of cryptography and bitcoin be with you.

Hal,

Thank you for sharing! We Bitcoin enthusiasts are often captivated by those involved in the earliest days, and you appear to be right next to Satoshi! You will have a place in history like the first scientists sending messages over the Internet, or those first words spoken over a telephone from Alexander Graham Bell to Mr. Watson: "Mr. Watson — Come here — I want to see you."

You, sir, are Satoshi's Mr. Watson and I salute you! Thank you also for the work you continue to do.

I'm very touched about your post Hal, I didn't know you have ALS..
I recently discovered that I can even write code. It's very slow, probably 50 times slower than I was before. But I still love programming and it gives me goals. Currently I'm working on something Mike Hearn suggested, using the security features of modern processors, designed to support "Trusted Computing", to harden Bitcoin wallets. It's almost ready to release. I just have to do the documentation.
I am curious about what software you're currently using for eye tracking and text input, is your IDE adapted in some way for auto-completing and navigation?

Thank you and I hope you the best.

Thank you for what you have done.

Thanks at least partially to you I believe mankind will be helped greatly in the coming years as corruption world wide is curbed by Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has advanced my own ideas and business perhaps a decade. I am much indebted.

Hal,

In addition to the Bitcoin related efforts, I really want to thank you especially for your earlier work.  The cypherpunks related work of you and others (for lack of a better description) is, in my mind, one of the highest ranking achievements in the history of developments impacting social structures.  We'll not know for a while, if ever, what the full impact will be but I am confident that they have been and will continue to be a positive force shaping things as we evolve.

Without lowering the reverence of this thread I'd just like to say that Hal's avatar always reminds me of Pierce Brosnan.

Thanks for all the work you've put into making Bitcoin what it is.
