Indeed, bitcoin is innocent. It is the people that use them that makes it good or bad. I guess everything has their pros and cons to it. Just whether which is more

Bitcoin is innocent. Let's use only crypto-currency in good ways and stop doing cyber crimes. They are pointing out the e-currencies as the reason for the rebirth of online attacks because of its anonymity but its not about that, its only one of the features for privacy. If we know someone already using btc to criminal acts, we shouldn't be like him nor tolerate him because it brings a negative mindset to others about btc.

Bitcoins has regained its strong value, As of this posting, the value per 1 bitcoin is exactly 4786.59 US Dollar.   Soon we will see more ways people can squeeze the most out of bitcoins.   Since the advent of the internet to be profit oriented in the 90's, no one would possibly have imagined that the Internet would breed Facebook, Google, Uber, online streaming, etc. This is where we are with the Blockchain now. There exists a whole world of opportunities out there.

These opportunities have the unrighteous users of this cryptocurrencies to also used its advantage. We cannot deny for a fact that cyber crimes have been committed since the birth of the internet.  Once, stealing was done with having guns, now, robbers can easily hack bank accounts or counterfeit credit cards to their advantage.  Sooner, cryptocurrencies can be used to pay crimes such as services for creating counterfeit birth certificates and this is not far from happening.  Actually, the US has already cases on this matter.

Another is the crime of buying illegal-drug emporium that used Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, politicians and policymakers took notice. Criminals, it turns out, really like bitcoins, which can be exchanged for nefarious purposes on the "Dark Web," with complete anonymity and, it seems, impunity.

Although, there are some articles that i have read regarding criminals cannot hide behind bitcoins, still, there are difficulties tracing transactions using cryptocurrencies. That is why law enforcement agencies should have a to change their procedures to pursue criminals who make use of the latest technology to commit crimes. Let the law find a way to evolve to address new tech challenges. There is no reason to expect that law enforcement won’t be able to get a handle on this new cybercrime.
criminal is a criminal,no matter how strong the security is they wil always find ways to do criminality.lets expect those even not in bitcoin communities..so theres nothing to argue about that its just hard to trace when transaction is made over internet but enforcement is always there to subject them.maybe a matter of time still they will be caught.

As far as I know, every currency is also used in crimes in any part of the world. As long as the currency has it's own value, criminals will use the most practical way to store / use their money. You can't say that if Bitcoins are used in crimes, then Bitcoin should be banned but what about other currency such as Dollar? Aren't they are used by criminals? Shouldn't they be banned?
That's not the case, comparing Fiat currencies with digital ones is a whole different concept. Cryptocurrencies opened up the way of illegal trading with Darknet markets. They are untraceable, at least for the average person, rendering them safe to use for those activities. You wouldn't use your PayPal account for anything illegal, would you?

It's not now. People are using Bitcoin for illegal activities since last few years and now these practices are getting exposed. Even today, using Bitcoin is not illegal in most of the countries but using Bitcoins (or anything) for illegal activities is prohibited by the law.

India's Demonetization Is Causing Bitcoin To Surge Inside The Country.

In India, incidents like demonetisation caused a surge in the Bitcoin but most of it was a panic move by the fiat currency holders.

Not just bitcoins , every currency has been used somewhere to fund illegal activities like terrorism, smuggling or any other crime.
So if the government thinks to ban BTC they should probably first see the criminal activity funded by their own native currency.
It's just that the criminals use the decentralised and anonymous nature of bitcoins to do so , well their are not many cases of illegal activities funded by BTC , but sure silkroad is surely one major one.
The incident made bitcoins to go into their biggest market demise or fall , it also made silkroad a shadow trade zone , people could even buy drugs from the site. Later when no account where allowed by the site people went to buy existing accounts on auction.

Yeah the Silkroad is the best example of all crimes which are being done by using bitcoin as a mode of payment.

It's funny how people always think about crime when it comes to SilkRoad, while in reality, this has been the first ever merchant successfully demonstrating actual Bitcoin usage. That's unfortunately not how the majority of the people here and outside the crypto world look at SilkRoad. For them it's nothing more than a platform enabling/stimulating malicious activity. People for once should take a look into what's happening with fiat, and then mainly what harm is being done to people. Bitcoin, alongside all other traditional assets and market place platforms, are nothing more than tools being abused by whatever individuals. Instead of pointing at the tools and putting the blame on them, point at the people for once.

Yes, nowadays it’s being used in crime, they buy and sell online and pay by bitcoin. Because it’s untraceable. So police can’t get clue to caught them. I think it’s dangerous.
The danger is only if you will use it in crimes.Another danger I see.

Yeah the Silkroad is the best example of all crimes which are being done by using bitcoin as a mode of payment. The criminals are taking advantage of this decentralized currency. They use it's anonymousity to the most. But now measures are being taken and bitcoin is being made safer to use.And crime takes place everywhere whether they use bitcoins or not.So this probably isn't enough for people to stop using bitcoins.

Even from the start that the criminals discovered bitcoin as a good way to use in transacting because of the anonymity that they can get benefit and that is when the crimes including bitcoin start and i think that bitcoin is still being used in crimes but i am 100% sure that the users of bitcoin are more into good side rather than for a bad side.
From the beginning days it's been used as an way for all sorts of illegal transactions. This is the one that gave bitcoin a negative image among the public. Now this has decreased, but can't say that it has got vanished cent percent. Recent use on crimes is the ransomware attack that made a big controversy worldwide.

This is not new to me, actually I discovered bitcoins by reading articles about deep web. I've read that the way of payment in deep web is through bitcoins because it's untraceable and it's fast when used in different transactions. These special characteristics of bitcoins makes the bad people feel comfortable to do their wrong deeds because they already know that it's very hard for the police authority to chase them. The other reason why divers use this is because they want to avoid personal meet ups because it will compromise their anonymity if they do.

This is the sad truth about bitcoins, that it can be also used to harm others. I hope governments find ways to stop these illegal actions.

Bitcoin is money, and money is always used for legal or illegal purposes. Cash, credit cards and the banking system today extend far beyond Bitcoin in terms of use for criminal activity

...Criminals, it turns out, really like bitcoins, which can be exchanged for nefarious purposes on the "Dark Web," with complete anonymity and, it seems, impunity...

Thats not true at all. 1st Bitcoin is not anonymous, its pseudonymous.
And 2nd you are not fully Anonymous on the deep Web. You are not even Close to be Anonymous on Tor.
Investigation Bureaus have Tools/strategies to trace Users.
The best you can do is to try to hide/remove almost all traces you leave.

Think about bitcoin as a froud is the same of thinking peer2peer during gnutella times or telescope at the time of galileo like a fraud. Over the years new technologies are always being demonised and only time has given them back their proper dignity. The same will be with bitcoin.
