I have seen it and it is true.
Illegal weapons are the most of the trade. They will use bitcoin to avoid being traced and it works fine for them.
Now that bitcoin price is huge. It will be more easy for them to transact.

Bitcoins has regained its strong value, As of this posting, the value per 1 bitcoin is exactly 4786.59 US Dollar.   Soon we will see more ways people can squeeze the most out of bitcoins.   Since the advent of the internet to be profit oriented in the 90's, no one would possibly have imagined that the Internet would breed Facebook, Google, Uber, online streaming, etc. This is where we are with the Blockchain now. There exists a whole world of opportunities out there.

These opportunities have the unrighteous users of this cryptocurrencies to also used its advantage. We cannot deny for a fact that cyber crimes have been committed since the birth of the internet.  Once, stealing was done with having guns, now, robbers can easily hack bank accounts or counterfeit credit cards to their advantage.  Sooner, cryptocurrencies can be used to pay crimes such as services for creating counterfeit birth certificates and this is not far from happening.  Actually, the US has already cases on this matter.

Another is the crime of buying illegal-drug emporium that used Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, politicians and policymakers took notice. Criminals, it turns out, really like bitcoins, which can be exchanged for nefarious purposes on the "Dark Web," with complete anonymity and, it seems, impunity.

Although, there are some articles that i have read regarding criminals cannot hide behind bitcoins, still, there are difficulties tracing transactions using cryptocurrencies. That is why law enforcement agencies should have a to change their procedures to pursue criminals who make use of the latest technology to commit crimes. Let the law find a way to evolve to address new tech challenges. There is no reason to expect that law enforcement won’t be able to get a handle on this new cybercrime.
As far as i know, bitcoin is used by buying some illegel guns, drugs, hiring a hitman and many more. These all can considered as crimes since it is illegal. So to those people who have their own bitcoin, use it well. Dont use it to some illegal things if you dont want your life to at risk.

It's not really a breaking news but its been on-going for quite sometime now and you don't need to go too far, just look around this forum and you will see a lot of scammer pretending to offer a good deal but in the end they are just after your Bitcoin. Its not only for scamming, but also as payment for illegal items like hacked accounts and those pirated software's.

There is evil in general in this world. People can think and scheme of different ways to use anything into something, bent according to their own agenda. No surprise if bitcoin too will be used in crime. Most people would think that transactions can be done with anonimousity, but more technical knowledge in how bitcoin really works could expose crime. Just this year, there is already a suspected cybercriminal arrested, sitting in his prison cell, while U.S. and Russia fight over him.

the anonymous data of self-esteem becomes one of the criminal opportunities to conduct transactions safely, because they can safely hide their personal data, while today the cybercrime is deep in cyberspace, the dark web now uses bitcoin payment services for all kinds of payments

Every advancement has it's Pros and Cons. For Crypto transactions to be excluded from "some" of the cons and be secured by any law enforcement agencies, it should be widely adopted and exposed it's vulnerability meaning share transaction records with the Government like the centralized FIAT's so that they could create and pass some sort of a transparency law and i really don't think if we all want that.

Though it's not surprising that btc is used in various crimes, we can't change the fact that it's not good for the reputation of btc. But then again, crimes are already present way before bitcoin was created so we can't do anything about it. I'm just glad that the governments are using all they can do to apprehend those big time criminals who are involved in laundering, cybercrime and drug trafficking. Good thing they can track bitcoin allegedly used in crimes with the help of cryptocurrency experts. But I know crimes involving btc cannot be eliminated and criminals can always find other means to continue their crimes.

Every currency is used in criminal actions. Crypto, fiat, etc.
Bitcoin is just more comfortable than others, because it is anonymous and u don't have to transfer them physically or to bank account. It allows you to exclude the need for acquaintance and contact between accomplices.

I think we are all familiar with the deepweb by now, and how they used Bitcoin on their silk road, it was way back then, when Bitcoin's value is very cheap, a lot of criminals already used Bitcoin for crimes, and we all know what had happened, the creator of silk road had been found, I think we need to learn a valuable lesson from it, that you just cannot hide secrets, and sooner or later your evil deeds will be revealed. People should stop, bringing back past, we all know that Bitcoin had a dark past once, and was salvage by a lot of honest users.

Those one who though Bitcoin is anonymous have been arrested already. I think it happens cause of they didn't learn Bitcoin good. But I'm sure that those persons who really use crypto-currencies for some criminal use other methods, like mixers or anonymous coins such as Monero.
I don't want to support new crime by telling the exactly scheme of being totally anonymous. I am afraid that with help of crypto-currencies the crime is going to be spreaded over the world even more. And that's not ok actually.

money is the siblings of money as long as this money exist and the technology behind the block chain and bitcoin is decentralize making it usable in any kind of transaction as it has internet...

it is amazing but this is one of the disadvantages of bitcoin

For people who have no responsibility then they use bitcoin for crime. they use bitcoin because bitcoin is anonymously, this is really an improper use of technology. everybody in the world should be able to make the most of bitcoin as much as they can. so we live to see how ourselves, because the use of bitcoin depends on what we want to do. for me bitcoin is a technology that should be utilized with as much as possible.

Everything may happen, but do not look at the bitcoin from the negative side, the positive side of bitcoin is also very much. Such as helping us who hate the current bank system, taxes and other things.

Almost any product can be used for wrongdoing. It is just a currency and people chose what to do with it. Anyway I believe that if low enforcement really wanted they could catch criminals who prefer BTC much easier then the ones using cash.

First of all it is much smaller market and secondly they can make traps. If you are thinking about BTC mixers, why doesen't police make their own? I am sure they could make one hell of BTC mixing service if needed and use it to effectively check users. Paranoid? Maybe?

If they are having problems tracing with the bitcoin part then they could trace the other end.
Remember that they would still need to physically trade that item. If it is a gun or a drug it can be easily traced. If the buyer already bought and paid it but the seller got caught then those bitcoin will be lost.
There is no money back here unlike with cash where it will circulate again.

As for that, we can not blame the bitcoin and say bitcoin is used for crime. like a knife, if used to cut vegetables and meat then the knife is used properly. but if the knife is used to kill. do we blame the knife?

Blockchain has specific address allocation and wallet address are transparent so it's still traceable. The area of concern bitcoin want to address is centralization of transactions that's the reason they decentralize but as time goes and by rising of many miners with powerful servers and lack of governance it is going back to centralization. Another is security it's not hack proof but it will take a lot of computing power to hack a specific wallet address provided that the user is not so careless. With regards to being used in crimes well FIAT is still the major currency used in crimes up to now. I think cryptocurrency has a big part in the future of managing almost every transactions.
