Live with peace and enjoy life!
Yes, they do, but it's all based on the agreement you have with the person you are offering service to. Some people prefer PayPal because of the customer protection policy, as you have stated, but most people abuse the use of that policy a lot, so anyone who knows how PayPal operates might not want to receive payment through PayPal, but they can still go for other crypto payment options.

If you go to the service section in this forum, you will see a lot of people offering different kinds of freelancing services, and the majority of them want to be paid in bitcoin or another accepted crypto currency, but it's hard to see someone requesting to be paid with PayPal or even a bank transfer, as both of them have little difference.
You’re right. Freelancers can only request bitcoin payment if their clients also agreed on it, or vice versa. Because aside from having a smooth and hassle free transaction, bitcoin payment can also be made any time and anywhere. Unlike using other options like PayPal, aside that they have the right to freeze accounts, its merchant fees are also relatively high and since customer service is only done through online, customers do not seem so satisfied with their problems and concerns, hence they end up trusting more bitcoin payment rather than using PayPal.

BTC to the MOON in 2019
How popular is bitcoin as a medium of payment for freelancers for their freelance work ? Do clients really pay to freelancers for their work in bitcoins ? Or they prefer other payment mediums like paypal which provided more protection to buyer.

Do not know because we work not paid with Bitcoin and in our place Bitcoin is only a commodity asset.
For workers who come from and work in places that are allowed to use bitcoin, in my opinion rather than receiving payments through Paypal, maybe using Bitcoin better, safer and fast.
Freelancers are more exposed to digital payments like crypto so it’s not surprising that some freelancers would prefer crypto payments over its traditional method or any online payment exchanges. Crypto payments most particularly bitcoin, creates more convenient and seamless transaction, so they can receive payment from their different clients all over the world. However, if both parts agree on this kind of payment set up or system, then these freelancers would always use this opportunity to accept bitcoin at their biggest advantage.

Bitcoin/crypto isn't popular as a payment method for freelancing services. Do you know about any big and popular freelancing platform that are accepting cryptocurrency payments? Upwork? Fiverr? Freelancer.com? All of those platforms accept fiat payments and no crypto.
Maybe there are some obscure crypto freelance platforms that accept crypto payments, but they are insignificant in comparison to the big players of the freelance world. The only crypto freelance platform I know about is Latium.org but they are more like a micro-task website and they have their own coin.

Workers are definitely looking for the best option and if the comparison is PayPal with bitcoin then it is definitely better to use bitcoin. Even though shipping fees can depend on how busy the network is, transparent talk is much better.
It's always better to be transparent, but some laypeople who go into freelancers certainly don't choose assets that are risky enough because they don't understand how Bitcoin or crypto works.

But of course, the payment options of PayPal and Bitcoin or crypto will be optional options and adjusted to their interests.

In all cases, it is more profitable to use Bitcoin compared to PayPal, although not everyone is willing to accept payments using Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is much safer and more transparent, making it easier for people to maintain privacy and some workers such as freelancers prioritize privacy, although not all of them.
and about privacy, this is a bit of a conversation because some companies certainly need their KYC as a freelancer so they know what their profile is and the skills they are good at.

But some companies that need freelancers also don't need any details, and the most important thing is the results of their work.

If others could use it as a medium of exchange for their goods and services rendered online, what makes you think it can't be suitable for freelancers? Because, inasmuch as Bitcoin is a the world's most used cryptocurrency, let's not forget that it's fast, secured and a good store of value for long term investment plan. Hence if you know any freelancer, you could recommend him to use Bitcoin for receiving payment for goods and services rendered for client across borders. Bitcoin is the best and remains the best.
Yes that is a good point if others can use Bitcoin as medium of exchange for online goods and services so why not freelancers? Bitcoin is fast safe and valuable making it perfect for payments especially when working with clients from other countries. It is great way for freelancers to get paid. I think it is great idea to suggest Bitcoin to freelancers as reliable and efficient way to receive payments. It is the best choice and it will continue to be the best way to make online transactions. And if they will hold onto Bitcoin so it will be a good investment too.

PayPal is more familiar to those who are financiers or those who work online.  On the other hand, the popularity of Bitcoin as a means of payment is increasing day by day.  But in case of PayPal there are some bindings like having a PayPal account but not in case of Bitcoin.  On the other hand, in PayPal, the money will be deposited for a certain period of time, but in Bitcoin, money can be withdrawn or deposited whenever you want.  On the other hand, you cannot have a PayPal account in all countries of the world.  So I consider Kipot as one of the mediums of money transfer.

I think in most cases, the mode of payment is always discussed and agreed between three both partied after discussing  thr business terms and if butcoin and cryptocurrency is convenient for thr both parties, then it's no big deal as there are no specific restrictions against cryptocurrency payment on freelancing platforms.

Mind you, PayPal is not as safe as you think.
If possible for transactions like that of a freelancing job, then PayPal payment option shouldn't be even considered except for trust rated clients and currently payments in cryptocurrency is one of the best payment options currently for thr safety of both parties

Way back which PayPal hasn't been allowed Bitcoin payment then of course it's sticking with traditional fiat payment or wire transfers on which as a freelancer then you would really be that agreeing on whatever terms that they would be having. If it turns out that you are a crypto or Bitcoin enthusiast then you would really be might be preferring Bitcoin payments but just like on been said earlier that everything would really be depending on the employer.

In the end of the day then it would really be just that depending  on the employer and we as freelancers then we would really be always agreeing and won't really be tending to oppose on what they do prefer.

From a freelancer’s point of view, payment in bitcoin is profitable if made in the form of an advance payment. This payment can't be cancelled or frozen. After this, the freelancer only has to conscientiously complete the tasks assigned to him. In the case of post-payment, the customer may simply deceive and not pay the agreed remuneration, and in this case, the freelancer finds himself in a vulnerable and unprotected position.

The customer has the opposite situation. Prepayment does not guarantee 100% completion of the order, but post-payment for the work insures the customer against fraud on the part of the freelancer.

The guarantee of a freelancer’s reliability can be his reputation (reviews) and completed cases (cooperation with other clients), and the customer’s – the reputation of his project/company.

With conscientious cooperation between a freelancer and a customer, bitcoin is a convenient, fast and simple (and cheap) way to pay for work. Direct P2P interaction allows them to avoid paying high commissions for intermediary sites, such as website for freelancers, and also make money transfers between different countries (in the absence of common payment systems). We should not forget that even PayPal is not available in all countries.

There are actually lots of clients that pay freelancers in bitcoins. Although, most of these clients do not give payment in Bitcoin options directly, they can use third parties who help in the conversion of those payments into bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency.

CryptoGrind is one platform that connects freelancers to clients that pay in cryptocurrencies, including bitcoins. And these clients offer varieties of job options where the freelancers can choose from. There are many other freelancing platforms that offer same services like cryptoGrind. This is to prove that there are actually clients who pay in bitcoins. Mind you, PayPal is not as safe as you think.

You're right, there is no protection whatsoever and PayPal is just a payment that is no longer popular nowadays because there are many better payments than PayPal. What is quite annoying about PayPal is also because PayPal charges transaction fees for some types of transactions, especially for international transactions or currency conversions, so the fees can be; higher.

As a freelancer, of course, a considerable cost cut will have an effect.
and also PayPal is not transparent.

The aim is to save on transaction costs, on the contrary, you have to incur greater costs, so using payment using PayPal is much better using payment using the fiat method.
Especially if it is an international transaction, this will be a problem for people and higher costs will force us to incur much greater costs.

Workers are definitely looking for the best option and if the comparison is PayPal with bitcoin then it is definitely better to use bitcoin. Even though shipping fees can depend on how busy the network is, transparent talk is much better.

In contrast to Bitcoin, which is transparent, and transaction fees are now very cheap (as long as the network is not congested).
And there is no deduction other than transaction fees, it is indeed fluctuating, but it is possible that the price of Bitcoin will rise more, and the value obtained will be more.
In all cases, it is more profitable to use Bitcoin compared to PayPal, although not everyone is willing to accept payments using Bitcoin.

As a freelancer, of course, a considerable cost cut will have an effect.
Cutting cost from moving bitcoin on chain and paying transaction fee, for freelancers who receive bitcoins in their salary, is important for them. Because if their received salary is not too big, on chain transaction fee can reduce rest value of salary after an on chain transaction. It possibly forces them to use online platforms, centralized exchange account to receive salary but we know risks of centralized exchanges.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

With PayPal, there is another big risk, chargeback.

Bitcoin on chain transaction is irreversible but Paypal has chargeback mechanism.

There's no "protection" in PayPal, they can freeze your funds for 21 days, they also can revert the transactions back if the sender can convince PayPal if you're a scammer, while the reality you didn't scam.

I imagine it is pretty popular as long as the client trusts the freelancer. Otherwise they need to use a mediator like upwork or fiverr and as far as I know they offer crypto as a payment method. When you are making a purchase using crypto, you need to have absolute trust in the seller/freelancer. If you get scammed somehow, there isn't much you can do about it.

It is probably better to establish a trust with the client/freelancer before you try to get paid with crypto and even after that, it is still not going to be a 100% risk-free play. Maybe it is better to own a store or a popular website first and then accept crypto. That way the clients will trust you more because you will have a place in the real or the virtual world where they can always reach you.

Imagine owning a website which gets more than a thousand visitors everyday. Some of those people will indeed order whatever you happen to be selling because you have something they are interested in. You can accept crypto on that website successfully because these people trust you. Why would they visit your website otherwise? Without trust, I don't see crypto working well in a freelancer/client relationship. Somebody will get effed.

I have seen many freelancing sites that have added Bitcoin payment method. It doesn't matter if you are an employer or a freelancer, Bitcoin will be the best option for you. In addition to controlling your assets, PayPal also creates restrictions for some users in some countries. On my old laptop, I have the address of a freelance site that only supports cryptocurrency payments.
If I find it, I will definitely update this post, maybe it will be useful for you.

I think crypto payment particularly with USDT or Bitcoin is the best bet and most reliable means of payment to freelancers by Clients of course there must be a mutual agreement between both the client and the freelancer, this is based on the fact that some other payment gateways like PayPal has been restricted in some countries thus it is very difficult to operate such an account by freelances in such countries, however with crypto payment even with restrictions a freelancer can create a wallet receive payment anonymously and exchange it to local currency using proxies, personally I prefer crypto payment to other payment for any of job performed remotely.

It entirely depends! When I used to do freelancing back in 2020, I had always preferred Bitcoin. The reason is very simple. Paypal will directly settle the money into my bank account as per the local law. They cannot keep my money into the Paypal account for more than 24 hours. So even if I don't require that money right away, it's getting credited to my account. Hence I will have to show that income while filing my income tax. But yes, consumer protection is a big advantage for my service buyer.

The only benefit Bitcoin provided me, is that I can keep that earning in Bitcoin without converting it into fiat. So if I do not require that money, I do not have to convert them. And if I am not converting that, I am not being charged for tax. So from freelancing side, I will definitely prefer Bitcoin over anything else.

If the payment of online freelancers starts to be made through Bitcoin, it will undoubtedly be a significant revolution for Bitcoin. But it also has to consider how acceptable it is for people in countries where Bitcoin is not legal to accept freelancers' payments in Bitcoin.

How popular is bitcoin as a medium of payment for freelancers for their freelance work ?
Bitcoin is not only used for payment by freelancers, there are other online jobs that do make payments with bitcoin, depending on the agreement that you have with your client. If you want your payment to be in bitcoin and your client understands what bitcoin is all about and is willing to make a payment with bitcoin, then everything is fine.

Do clients really pay to freelancers for their work in bitcoins ? Or they prefer other payment mediums like paypal which provided more protection to buyer.
Everyone has what they prefer, some people don’t really know much about bitcoin, so they will prefer other means to make payments rather than bitcoin, but those who really understand how bitcoin works won’t really have any problem making payments with bitcoin.
