I think it's a false rumor, do not worry too much about that. The BTC is still a king and will go up in the future.

I haven't been checking the forums these past few days and then I panicked a bit when I saw a link on the Chrome app. So I checked it and realized it's just clickbait. https://www.coindesk.com/south-korean-regulator-issues-ico-ban/  Still went here to see how people are reacting though.

On a different topic, it seems North Korea also want in on cryptos. https://www.coindesk.com/report-north-korea-targets-south-koreas-bitcoin-exchanges-cyber-attacks/

The future of bitcoin in S. Korea would look pretty damn bleak.  As for the rest of the world,
it would be business as usual.  Don't know how important that country's economy is to the
rest of the globe, but I suspect if they did ban it, not much would happen.  Hell, didn't Russia
ban bitcoin?  It survived.  Bitcoin has survived all sorts of negativity and thrived in the face of
it.  Whatever S. Korea does is just kind of a passing phase.  And even if it were true, nothing
is written in stone just yet.  Most countries haven't even figured out if they're going to
regulate crypto or how to do it.  Some haven't even considered crypto at all.

Don't let it worry your pretty little head, darling.

Yes, probably it would not really affecr the world in Bitcoin trading and investment. But I think it may have some sort of effect to the other countries that it can be ban. The government of the different countries might be alarmed that they can alsp ban Bitcoin through their regulations.

And why would they do that? Because of greed and money. They may have more confidence that they could do it because other countries did it. They might see this as an opportunity to seize Bitcoin in the country for the governments wealthy benefit.

I thinks both of you got confuse. OP is only asking if Bitcoin was ban. Like China, Korea also want to be cautious on ICO's thats why they only ban ICO not the bitcoin. Unlike China which they are shutting of some of their exchange because of these scam ICO. Hope all of them will be regularized for more stable market around the cryptocurrency.

I have recently heard that after China Now South Korea Ban Bitcoin too...is that truth???
If banned then What's the future of BTC now?

Even they both Ban the bitcoin and ICO's i don't care, because we have already surpassed the series of failed attempts of China ban and JP Morgan of criticizing bitcoin but the result is bitcoin become more stronger and stable at $4,300 with out them how much more if they just support bitcoin and invest? maybe bitcoin already reach up the speculated $5,000 for this year. So if the Korean want to join the haters let it be because it will be not our lost but their peoples lost.

There is an ICO ban in South Korea, what i am surprised to see from the recent Chinese ICO ban is that whenever people hear about an ICO ban they come to a conclusion that bitcoin is banned in these places,is it that hard for these people to understand the difference  Huh between an ICO and bitcoin and as usual the market went down on hearing that news and recovered after hearing that Japan has given license to several of its crypto currency exchanges.

Is this a serious topic or a joke?

South Korea didn't banned bitcoin, only put more regulation, and nothing close to what China is doing.

Crypto scene is kind of fishy lately, I must admit

I dont think South Korea will ban Bitcoin in there country as I know they have also have large amount of traders and holders. Maybe they will Ban ICO as like China did to determine scam ICO and to avoid Money laundering. Well even South Korea decide to ban bitcoin it is fine as bitcoin dont need support from the government because it is decentralize. Plus if more countries banning ICO bitcoin price and demand will increase so we bitcoin holder will have more profit out of it...

Korea has not banned bitcoin.

What has been banned however are actually ICOs, which China has already done so. Is it really going to affect ICOs? I don't think so since Korea isn't really known to be a very big ICO investing country at all, and if Koreans want to invest in ICOs they still can through many workarounds.

Even if they actually banned bitcoin, bitcoin network will still survive into the future since it is decentralized.

Most major countries today starting to crackdown and banning ICO's I'm infavor of it. In my opinion they should regulate it instead of banning them to give way for real investments. Governments should practice proper mechanism to investigate ICO's whether who's in or out, So that every fundraisers is aware of regulations and abide with the government rules.

No, south korea never banned bitcoin. What is been banned are the Initial Coin Offerings. There has been sudden surge of ICOs raising funds but sometimes many seem shady like ponzi schemes, hence the need to curb ICOs in South Korea.

In the meantime, bitcoin does not seem to be fazed by the news anyway.

They are banning ICOs, which are completely different from Bitcoins. Similar news from China made Bitcoin value plummet, so I am glad this did not make significant waves. I guess South Korea is not a big enough market.

korea is not banning bitcoin but only banning the ico like what china did. bitcoin still have a bright future as bitcoin can solve everybody problem in financial. as far as i know, korea approving bitcoin to be use in their country and this is like japan did for approved bitcoin too. i think you need to read again in other site and you can found that news is not true so you don't have to be worried and don't panic like others.

I think, bitcoin is not banned in korea country but only ICO is prohibited its use in their country. if for an impact on bitcoin, I think bitcoin will remain strong despite the widespread negative news.

If its truth, i am pretty sure that it will affect to the bitcoin price getting lower. Maybe In another country also will affect to do the same to ban btc. But i hope it will not happen since many of bitcoiner will get lost of their trading of bitcoin.

No it's not banning Bitcoin but Korea and China are banning ICO and I think there will be a lot of country join to ban ICO, but banning ICO won't too affected with Bitcoin and if the news of banning Bitcoin is true you will see huge price falling because of the panic sell and there will be a lot of news in this forum

no you haven't heard anything like that. maybe some random person trolled you or it is possible that you read something but saw something else Smiley
what they have banned is the ICOs and they will continue to ban it, other countries will also ban ICOs and this has nothing to do with bitcoin and it never had.

the future of bitcoin is rising as you can see the price is going to the moon now Grin
