I don't predict that Bitcoin will eventually replace the fiat currencies we are used to be utilizing for hundred of years. It can however be complimenting each other. The nature of Bitcoin right now is still in the "investment" stage...including its high volatility rate which can affect inflation if totally used to replace the fiat money. Bitcoin and fiat can go hand in hand and be complimenting each other but will not really be killing each other. Both have roles to play and they can be used both with ease and convenience. Plastic did not kill fiat money though it was predicted to be doing it many decades ago.
In certain ways bitcoins cant replace, No government will allow that to happen, The government wants to monitor purchases by the people and the moment bitcoins is what everyone uses and the government cant monitor it, They will crack it down .

I feel the current path Bitcoin is on is risking everything. Transactions are getting too slow and expensive. The use cases for Bitcoin are be limited by that.
It used to be that Bitcoin had value because it was so much cheaper and faster to transfer to anywhere in the world in almost any amount. What happens when that is no longer true? I'm really struggling to see how the SegWit solution will fix this problem. It appears that Bitcoin is being positioned into something much different than it was. It used to be cool to buy your dinner with BTC, but it won't be so cool with it costs more to do the small transaction than the actual cost of the transaction.

The increasing demand of Bitcoin won't be a factor for it to replace Fiat Currency because even if 50% of the world's population is using Bitcoin most of it will convert it to Fiat. You know why? Because even if Bitcoin becomes widely accepted in the world people would still prefer Fiat Currency which is the most liquid or widely use currency in any place. Also in terms of transaction times we can see that Bitcoin transactions takes a while to confirm compared to transactions that involve Fiat Currency which money do you think is more practical to use while queued in a line? Of course the currency which will take the less time, because honestly if we don't see any improvements in the transaction time of Bitcoin we won't see it being used by the majority of the population.

That is right, bitcoin is a good asset and it's price is a really good price as a digital currency, we all know the problems of bitcoin, and if bitcoin will replace fiat, then it will not be the only problem of users but all the people. It can turn the whole world into chaos, I am really good and comfortable where bitcoin is at right now, I am enjoying using it, paying my bills and loads with it. It will be a way to sustain yourself fiat, but it will not replace fiat.
Let's say that bitcoin has replaced fiat. There will be other cryptocurrencies that will stand out. Probably the major ones we have right now like Ether, Dash, and Litecoin. But of course I don't know that those will still be the major coins at that time for sure since the wind can change our sails anytime.
Anyway, people will not use only bitcoin. They will not battle their way in in every transaction that they do. After all, there's plenty of choices on what cryptocurrency to use. Yep, there's no need for bitcoin to replace the fiat system as it supports that currency and economy. But people and it's user who supports this crypto including us, will be using it as our real money and currency through the web. And the government is not going to allow this to happen because it can destroy the economy.
