Thats cool but also not really surprising. these sport teams need funds and money to keep the team alive. sports are expensive and when you are professionally competing it would be even more expensive.
i think this gives proper exposure to both the team and bitcoin so its definitely a win-win situation here.
this reminds me of a f1 team, alpine, being sponsored by binance and is offering fan tokens
this shows how relevant crypto is and how it is being used widely by influential people in the world.
Why not surprising? Has any football club done this before? I think the ones that I saw are only being sponsored by a crypto gambling or crypto exchange. Also the one here can sell their shirt and other items using BTC as payment method, and yeah it's so cool. Don't worry about the funds because like I and OP said, they are having a business and then they might also accept donations.

For sure, a lot of BTC/crypto enthusiast are going to donate at them as they love their initiative, and what if one day they can also get a sponsorship? But I think, fame is not enough to get one but they also need to play better, if in case they don't yet.
I don`t sure, but as i remember - Watford wanted to make print BTC and sell shirts in 18-19 season. Today they have Stake.com as a sponsor
Benfica sold souvenirs for cryptocurrencies the same time, Miami Dolphins accepted LTC for payment, West Ham and some more teams created their fan tokens, etc.
So it is not new idea to get some more money from cryptocurrency users.

I don't feel surprised at all about this information because football clubs have already started adopting cryptocurrencies for a very long time now. As of 2019, when I fully gave my time to learning about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, there were some football fan altcoins I knew about. The first fan token I know about was AC Milan, etc. I am really impressed that Botev Plovdid have to take this action even before some of the other big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, etc. Although I still believe that Bitcoin has a lot more good news to spark, as time goes on, many other big firms will continue to adopt and use it, which will bring about more popularity and adoption for Bitcoin.

This is interesting. Bulgaria is a nation that is trying their best to see how they could adopt Bitcoin irrespective of the fact that their haven't made any statement as to their adoption of Bitcoin neither have they placed any restriction on Bitcoin adoption in their country but however, her citizens are very much enthusiastic about Bitcoin and are really doing the needful for themselves by accepting Bitcoin as a means of exchange for goods and services as the cases may be.
This singular act by the football club shows so much love for Bitcoin and I wish other big clubs all round the world in Crypto friendly nations could follow their steps to accepting Bitcoin for tickets and other activities which involves payment in the club be done in bitcoin. It would trigger a spike in bitcoin usage in their various countries and likewise their fan support base globally would also pick interest in it.
This act shows so much love for money. Don`t be foolish. For such club it doesn`t matter what logo they will wear if it brings them money. When you talk about top teams - they can choose sponsor and if you see BTC on the Real or MC club - it is serious. But when you see BTC on the form of the noname club - it means only one thing - they wants more money.
You are correct. We all know everyone organisation and individual wants more money so I would not be surprised if that is their intentions and if that is a strategy for them to get more money it is left for them as I have no idea what they are up to but I only see it as a good publicity and awareness campaign they have put up for their fans to know more about Bitcoin which is very much encouraging and applaudable.
Of course i don`t see something bad in it. We live in the real world and everybody needs money. So if they have an opportunity to get money using BTC - i can only applaud it. At least several fans will teach how to use BTC, somebody will like it, etc. Anyway we don`t pay for such kind of marketing, so it is just promotion for free. I`ve just matched that the club don`t cares about BTC.

This is interesting. Anyway, I would like to have one of this but sadly I can't for some reason which I won't disclose except my identity being known to them and also the address to receive the product but I think €50 is okay for me if that includes the payment for shipment since there's a fee for shipping products and as I explained that my address and name will be shown to them which I don't want and also many people doesn't want to publicize their identity especially their home address.

Why is this forum thread posted in the Gambling forum? This has nothing to do with crypto gambling or sports betting.
I don't think there is any conflict of interest for posting it on Gambling board. After all the club is promoting Bitcoin and a club means there will be sports and sports means gambling.
I also believe that this is the main reason why this is posted in this board and also there's no other board that suited the best for this kind of topic. If this is not in gambling then gambling discussion would also be fine.

This information made me to do a quick search which I just find out that Botev Plovdiv is one of the oldest football club in Bulgaria and it is also the first football club to adopt Bitcoin payment for their services. This is a welcoming development for the football industry and if every other football club adopts same methods, this will make so many other footballers and football lovers to invest into Bitcoin if they were not yet aware about the Bitcoin technology. What made it possible for that football club to adopt Bitcoin is because Bitcoin and other digital asset is freely allowed to be traded in Bulgaria.

A jersey for more than 50 euro? I know that Botev is one of the two popular football clubs in the city of Plovdiv, but I don't think that many Botev fans are willing to spend more than 50 euro for a football jersey.
The owner of Botev Plovdiv is Russian. His name is Anton Zingarevich and he was the owner of an English football club(Reading if I remember the name correctly). I don't know if this Russian multimillionaire is actually pro-Bitcoin. Maybe the operative directors of Botev Plovdiv has decided to bring more awareness about Bitcoin and use it as some sort of marketing move.

Are Russians still allowed to own clubs in Europe? That's interesting in itself. I thought owning assets in EU as a Russian, especially after the Special Military Operation by Russians was either frozen or confiscated. That being said, it is interesting that a top flight team in Bulgaria is completely relying on Bitcoin for their merchandising. Their website is very slow for me and I'm unable to view their "why Bitcoin?" page. With recent upswing in BTC price, they might be in decent profits for this year at least.

I am not surprised about this, it all depends on the management of the establishment we are talking about. If the people behind the management can be such that follow and reason positively about Bitcoin then a thing like this can't be surprising.

I expect more to follow suit because Bitcoin has entered the mainstream of the financial market and payment system already, there is no hiding or fear about it anymore, so more companies will join soon.

Not to mention the investment around Bitcoin, though the Bulgaria football club may still have a partnership with some companies dealing with Bitcoins for easy exchange, notwithstanding, it's a very good development. I wish the club well and had it been it was such that I follow, this would have prompted me to purchase one jersey to support them.

Yes, I welcome all this kind of news, in that it seems to be good publicity for the team and also for bitcoin, but limited. The biggest teams in Europe don't seem to be carrying the bitcoin logo on their jerseys in the near future because they have too many sponsors available. It would be a dream to see teams like Real Madrid wear a bitcoin logo on their jersey.

Botev is one of the few professional football clubs that have bitcoin logo on their shirt, so I think this could be interesting gift to someone and it is not that expensive.
Winning VIP tickets is fine bonus if you are living in Bulgaria or if you plan to visit their stadium and watch few matches.
That's so cool, when it comes to seniority, the first thing that I almost always think about when it comes to bitcoin adoption is that the oldest one is going to be the one that's going to adopt bitcoin the last but Botev seems to be a norm breaker for me because they're the oldest and they've already adopted bitcoin for awhile now, if I recall that block height isn't any of the recent years right? If so then that means that they've been a believer to what bitcoin is, it's also really good for the FC's finance too right? Less taxes for them to declare on their earnings or do they still have to declare their earnings with bitcoin paid merchandise?

It's great to see how Bitcoin is adopted in various sectors, including sports. This is a bold move that might attract crypto enthusiasts and fans alike. I watched the video report, and it's great to see how the club is actively promoting this initiative. It's a clever way to engage the community and encourage more people to explore this new payment option. The video also mentioned the embrace of Bitcoin by El Salvador and MicroStrategy. Director George also translated the book "The Bitcoin Standard" into their language, and I also have an original copy. Many still misunderstand the essence of Bitcoin, so there's a need to educate and raise awareness.

Did you hear about football club from Bulgaria called Botev Plovdid?

They officially adopted Bitcoin payments and added Bitcoin logo on their jersey.
You can order the jersey for 50€ to 60€, add your name and number, pay everything with Bitcoin and they are accepting international shipping.
In their stadium shop you can also buy anything with Bitcoin.

Why Bitcoin?
https://botevplovdiv.bg/en/why-bitcoin

https://botevplovdiv.bg/store/

One guy made interesting video report about Botev Plovdid and Bitcoin: https://youtu.be/AfBU4k3CRMw

Oh great, I am loving this! Football is the biggest sport in the world, and if they advertise Bitcoin, that would be a really good thing for worldwide Bitcoin adoption! Good on Bulgaria for this idea!

The question now is how to get major football teams or celebrity football players to follow in the footsteps of the Botev Plovdid football club? Imagine someone like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo advertising Bitcoin?

Also, the fact that the mentioned football club even educates people on how Bitcoin works and why it is a good thing, is amazing!

I think that maybe in lack of a better sponsor, they chose this creative way to fund their team for this year.

It's likely that local sponsor market isn't that ambitious especially when it comes for a team that's 8th in the standings. Surely with better funding they could do better things because transfers and better coaches really can uplift a team a lot.

The issue is that when it comes to doing something like this, unless they attract a more reliable sponsor like a big crypto-based casino (which is likely what they're hoping for in the long run for sponsorships), probably they won't get that much money from crypto users.  That's because oddly enough people don't like spending their crypto that much. If I told you to pay for a jersey in company stock from one of your investments, would you go in that trouble? Probably not. I think of it like in this analogy.
