They officially adopted Bitcoin payments and added Bitcoin logo on their jersey.
You can order the jersey for 50€ to 60€, add your name and number, pay everything with Bitcoin and they are accepting international shipping.
In their stadium shop you can also buy anything with Bitcoin.
I often read about the Botev Plovdiv shop, for me it is an extraordinary thing for sports and Bitcoin fans or for those who are fanatics of Nakamoto and the creator of Bitcoin, This is interesting and I am also interested in ordering a t-shirt that says the first three Bitcoin names and Nakamoto's last name. On the front right it says my name personally.

I have seen special things done by the Botev Plovdiv club by embracing new partners and sports fans to introduce them more about Bitcoin, so that they understand Bitcoin properly, Not only seen as a gambling transaction, Botev Plovdiv will prove the best things for Bitcoin fans in the future.

Thank you notblox1 for sharing this information, I hope to do something from Botev Plovdiv.

Interesting! They are a pro club from Bulgarian First League, the top of Bulgarian football league system.
I checked their twiter acc and they offer a raffle with prize 2 VIP tickets to anyone who buy the jersey on their store.
Also they wrote "Oldest football club in Bulgaria ⚽️ Established in 𝟣𝟫𝟣𝟤 ⚡️ Adopted #Bitcoin at block height 814670 " on their twitter information.
Thats cool lol!

How cool is that!
It’s interesting how football have often taken the league at getting head starts at these and that innovation and you could really get massive campaigns from football. This one is overly campaigned and it’s nice. Watford FC in the EPL before they got relegated to the championship had their moment but, it wasn’t as massive as this one. I wish it were though, it would have lead to most teams trying to copy from what they would have seen to boost the club's finance due to fans acceptance of the innovation and what good it would have meant for Bitcoin.

This is yet another good one from the Bulgarian club and with them making such a promotion of it, I could imagine what it means for the fans over there and such awareness that it’s created.

The club is doing several interesting things that involves bitcoin, both for fans and its players. For example, you can buy tickets and merchandise at their fan store with BTC. Fans get cashback in BTC. Botev has partnered with BTCPayServer to make all that possible. Also, players receive bonuses and can request a part of their salary in bitcoin. I am surprised that more clubs haven't done the same.

There are a lot of clubs that somehow got into crypto waters, but only through tokenization, which they obviously think can bring them profit. As in all other aspects of life, Bitcoin has a very negative connotation for many, because they only listen to official channels, and what people in power say is still the most important for the majority.

It's fascinating to see the Ultras of the club writing such a message on a tifo: "If you understand Bitcoin, you buy it." This shows that even the fans of this club fully support Bitcoin and are actively promoting it. Beside that, I have noticed that this club is rolling many events for fans and those who purchase their merchandise. Giving back rewards to fans is a great initiative that not only supports the football team but also helps promote Bitcoin, building trust among other people and football fans.
~snip~

They couldn't have sent a better message - because someone can say that it's bad if you don't invest in BTC, but I say that it's even worse if you invested in something you don't understand. For most, investing in BTC is just an attempt to make a short-term profit, but then they panic and sell as soon as their investment loses 5% in value.

~snip~
To be fair, PAO is a clear favorite here but anything can happen in two games. Either way, even if they get kicked out of EL they won't be kicked out of Europe alltogether and will continue in Conference League meaning more games to spread the word.

Honestly, I don't follow club football that much, so I don't know what the chances of these clubs are - but from some past times, the Greek football league always seemed to me to be of better quality than the Bulgarian one. However, times are changing and everyone knows how to play football today - so I hope that we will see two good matches and that the guys who promote BTC will win in the end.

Have a good time in Athens and at the match Wink

Considering the popularity of Panathinaikos, it's fair to say that even more potential bitcoiners will watch their next two matches.
I am in Athens at the moment and will be for the next 10 days and was thinking about going to watch the first game live (I try to watch few PAO games per year when they play on Olympic Stadium as atmosphere is insane) and now I have even bigger reason to actually see the game since Botev is so deeply involved in bitcoin. Just have to check with my boss (read wife) first. Grin

I have no doubt that they benefit from it and I hope that they will manage to get as far as possible in the Europa League, although Pao does not seem like an easy opponent at all.

Honestly, when I first read about this topic, I never realized that this team has such a long history and competes in the first professional league. It seems to be a unique move, as most teams involved in such initiatives (promoting Bitcoin or Crypto) are typically newer or play in lower leagues.

Regarding gambling, it's clear that many fans have moved to crypto casinos for their gambling activities. We also can see that the club even has a casino as a sponsor on their shirts, likely accepting Bitcoin as a payment method.

A few days ago I saw a picture in WO from a match of this club - and I must admit that it is the first time I have heard that they are so connected to Bitcoin.

Botev Plovdiv is an excellent advertisement for Bitcoin. According to their recent tweet, over 1 million people watched their game against Maribor. Considering the popularity of Panathinaikos, it's fair to say that even more potential bitcoiners will watch their next two matches.

I will certainly make an effort to watch their match, at least the one they will play in front of their fans Smiley

Botev Plovdid is going in next stage of Europa League after they played 2:2 draw in second match against Maribor!
This was enough for them to qualify to next stage after winning the first match in Bulgaria.
In next round Botev Plovdid is playing against Panathinaikos from Greece.

Thats cool but also not really surprising. these sport teams need funds and money to keep the team alive. sports are expensive and when you are professionally competing it would be even more expensive.
i think this gives proper exposure to both the team and bitcoin so its definitely a win-win situation here.
this reminds me of a f1 team, alpine, being sponsored by binance and is offering fan tokens
this shows how relevant crypto is and how it is being used widely by influential people in the world.
Why not surprising? Has any football club done this before? I think the ones that I saw are only being sponsored by a crypto gambling or crypto exchange. Also the one here can sell their shirt and other items using BTC as payment method, and yeah it's so cool. Don't worry about the funds because like I and OP said, they are having a business and then they might also accept donations.

For sure, a lot of BTC/crypto enthusiast are going to donate at them as they love their initiative, and what if one day they can also get a sponsorship? But I think, fame is not enough to get one but they also need to play better, if in case they don't yet.
I don`t sure, but as i remember - Watford wanted to make print BTC and sell shirts in 18-19 season. Today they have Stake.com as a sponsor
Benfica sold souvenirs for cryptocurrencies the same time, Miami Dolphins accepted LTC for payment, West Ham and some more teams created their fan tokens, etc.
So it is not new idea to get some more money from cryptocurrency users.

I don't feel surprised at all about this information because football clubs have already started adopting cryptocurrencies for a very long time now. As of 2019, when I fully gave my time to learning about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, there were some football fan altcoins I knew about. The first fan token I know about was AC Milan, etc. I am really impressed that Botev Plovdid have to take this action even before some of the other big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, etc. Although I still believe that Bitcoin has a lot more good news to spark, as time goes on, many other big firms will continue to adopt and use it, which will bring about more popularity and adoption for Bitcoin.

This is interesting. Bulgaria is a nation that is trying their best to see how they could adopt Bitcoin irrespective of the fact that their haven't made any statement as to their adoption of Bitcoin neither have they placed any restriction on Bitcoin adoption in their country but however, her citizens are very much enthusiastic about Bitcoin and are really doing the needful for themselves by accepting Bitcoin as a means of exchange for goods and services as the cases may be.
This singular act by the football club shows so much love for Bitcoin and I wish other big clubs all round the world in Crypto friendly nations could follow their steps to accepting Bitcoin for tickets and other activities which involves payment in the club be done in bitcoin. It would trigger a spike in bitcoin usage in their various countries and likewise their fan support base globally would also pick interest in it.
This act shows so much love for money. Don`t be foolish. For such club it doesn`t matter what logo they will wear if it brings them money. When you talk about top teams - they can choose sponsor and if you see BTC on the Real or MC club - it is serious. But when you see BTC on the form of the noname club - it means only one thing - they wants more money.
You are correct. We all know everyone organisation and individual wants more money so I would not be surprised if that is their intentions and if that is a strategy for them to get more money it is left for them as I have no idea what they are up to but I only see it as a good publicity and awareness campaign they have put up for their fans to know more about Bitcoin which is very much encouraging and applaudable.
Of course i don`t see something bad in it. We live in the real world and everybody needs money. So if they have an opportunity to get money using BTC - i can only applaud it. At least several fans will teach how to use BTC, somebody will like it, etc. Anyway we don`t pay for such kind of marketing, so it is just promotion for free. I`ve just matched that the club don`t cares about BTC.

This is interesting. Anyway, I would like to have one of this but sadly I can't for some reason which I won't disclose except my identity being known to them and also the address to receive the product but I think €50 is okay for me if that includes the payment for shipment since there's a fee for shipping products and as I explained that my address and name will be shown to them which I don't want and also many people doesn't want to publicize their identity especially their home address.

Why is this forum thread posted in the Gambling forum? This has nothing to do with crypto gambling or sports betting.
I don't think there is any conflict of interest for posting it on Gambling board. After all the club is promoting Bitcoin and a club means there will be sports and sports means gambling.
I also believe that this is the main reason why this is posted in this board and also there's no other board that suited the best for this kind of topic. If this is not in gambling then gambling discussion would also be fine.

This information made me to do a quick search which I just find out that Botev Plovdiv is one of the oldest football club in Bulgaria and it is also the first football club to adopt Bitcoin payment for their services. This is a welcoming development for the football industry and if every other football club adopts same methods, this will make so many other footballers and football lovers to invest into Bitcoin if they were not yet aware about the Bitcoin technology. What made it possible for that football club to adopt Bitcoin is because Bitcoin and other digital asset is freely allowed to be traded in Bulgaria.

A jersey for more than 50 euro? I know that Botev is one of the two popular football clubs in the city of Plovdiv, but I don't think that many Botev fans are willing to spend more than 50 euro for a football jersey.
The owner of Botev Plovdiv is Russian. His name is Anton Zingarevich and he was the owner of an English football club(Reading if I remember the name correctly). I don't know if this Russian multimillionaire is actually pro-Bitcoin. Maybe the operative directors of Botev Plovdiv has decided to bring more awareness about Bitcoin and use it as some sort of marketing move.

Are Russians still allowed to own clubs in Europe? That's interesting in itself. I thought owning assets in EU as a Russian, especially after the Special Military Operation by Russians was either frozen or confiscated. That being said, it is interesting that a top flight team in Bulgaria is completely relying on Bitcoin for their merchandising. Their website is very slow for me and I'm unable to view their "why Bitcoin?" page. With recent upswing in BTC price, they might be in decent profits for this year at least.
