hi everybody,
I wasn't able to work much on this project lately, but today I posted a small update with some newly added currencies and I added the fear&greed index to the homepage. For those who are interested in supporting the project, donations are always welcome! (BTC address can be found in my profile)

hi Bitcoin Community,

This is a project I started recently, an easy 'go-to' place to quickly check bitcoin prices on the most popular exchanges. Eventually, I hope this will become a place to learn how to start trading on these exchanges.

The idea is to keep it simple, attract and make Bitcoin easy accessible for newbies into Bitcoin.

Is there something you would like to see or you are missing when you check the bitcoin prices? I would love to hear your opinions. A review on Trustpilot is also appreciated.

https://www.bitcoin-converter.com/

You should add your Bitcoin address in the topic! I want to send a few satoshis to help support the project.

All fixed now, thanks again for your input!

You're welcome, a few more suggestions:

- I just noticed that you only support conversions from BTC (and its units) to fiat. You should allow vice-versa as well.
- Use URL parameters. An example from XE:

Code:
https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=EUR

That's a feature I would personally use. If I'm making a sale's thread-like this one for instance. I could just link the website instead of writing "using preev.com rates", that will make it easier for everyone to check how much 1300$ USD is in BTC.

you can use the parameters with the following URL:
Code:
https://www.bitcoin-converter.com/calculator/?amount=1&from=BTC&to=USD
but this is not visible when you fill in the form, the inverse conversion EUR -> BTC is also indeed something I still need to add. Definitively two things I am going to work on.

edit:
Code:
https://www.bitcoin-converter.com/btc-usd/?amount=2
also works

Nice project, however there's a competitor called Preev.com if i'm going to suggest something, I think is to make your project better than preev you can visit the preev and make an improvement that the preev doesn't have such as:

• adding more cryptocurrency you can convert as well as the fiat currency
• You can also remove unwanted information on your website since the only thing that the user will do to your website is to convert it and after that they will close it immediately and won't bother to scroll it down up to the bottom. I don't know if the others do scroll down but for me as a user of preev i just use it to convert faster then close it immediately.

I do like the GUI but you can do it more better make it simple, elegant and presentable (I like the black theme though)

You have nice project, I tried your converter and here are some of my thoughts about it:

- You can get a new domain in with a shorter one
- Try adding more cryptocurrency
- Add more currencies and not just only USD
- Remove some the readings (Make it clean and simple)
- Remove the Bitcoin conversion table or make it automatically changing, I needed to refresh it first before getting the current price of the bitcoin

It is just my suggestion about your project but so far it is helpful for some of the user.

Good job on the improvements you've done so far, here are a few more suggestions:

- Support more fiat currencies: You can use Fixer.io API. Also, make sure to make it easy to search for a currency (while having USD, EUR & GBP on top), a user won't bother scrolling through the whole list, especially if you're going to support 170 currencies.
- Price sources: You listed way too many centralized platforms, take a few off and include P2P exchanges like LBC and decentralized ones like Bisq.io. I also suggest you allow multiple selections for the price source so instead of only being able to select one exchange at the time, allow the user to select multiple platforms and take then calculate the average from that.

It also seems like there is some glitch. Whenever you use decimals, the textbox border becomes red as if there is some kind of error (but the conversion works just fine).

Oh, I certainly do like that Dark Mode feature you've implemented. Looks so much better, did you change anything UI-related too or is it just the colors?

I'd add more exchanges to the avg price list and you're good to go imo. Will keep an eye on your website and will add it too my bookmarks.

Listening to our voice gives me a good vibe about you and the possible future of your site. Good job, keep it up!

Can't get enough of seeing Bitcoin BTC skyrocketing? Today I launched a Google Chrome extension to check the prices from each exchange directly in your browser top bar. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bitcoin-price-converter/mengdaiflgahpehifoiopgcdbjapabpn

Today I made another small update to the site. Conversions from millibitcoin (mBTC), bits(µBTC) and satoshis are available now and the 'Dark mode' feature is also enabled

A lot has been changed and improved since the launch of https://www.bitcoin-converter.com/ a couple of weeks ago. You can now follow all price movements on all major bitcoin exchanges at one glance. Also, all our datasets are now available for students and non-commercial use free of charge.

In general, your project looks acceptable and easy to understand despite some things should be improved and changed like, the domain name and the web page design, the logo.
In fact, you need to add some cryptocurrencies. Also, I did not like that part of featured articles, it is not even necessary to put it in the website I guess.
Otherwise, the other things are pretty okay, and remember that nothing gets better without hard work and effort, try always to improve your project, make it special ,  you are capable for that.
Good luck.

thanks, I keep working on it!

The website loads fast on my phone, way faster than other websites which is obviously a good thing.

However, as it's been mentioned before, I think the website name is too long. If it's going to become CMC-like traffic-wise, it's not going to be such a big mess but until then people need the comfort of writing a shorter name. I'd go for something like "bitconvert.com", but it'd be easily confused with "bitconverter.com" which I suppose you wouldn't want.

I'd like to see alts there too, but that's your choice and I guess considering the fact that your website's name is "BITCOIN-convert", alts are out of the game.

Overall I think it's a good idea. I haven't tried the website yet on PC, but on my phone it looks clean. However, there already are a few websites showing a price average of BTC (which includes CMC, the most popular one), so I'd recommend you to think about something unique to add to your website so the CMC, Preev etc traffic would transfer to your website.

thanks for your reply and suggestions, i am keeping working on it!

Suggestions:

  • Night mode.
  • Add function to your conversion symbol [⇄].
  • Remove everything [on homepage] apart from the calculator itself and simply add those respective pages into your header area instead.
  • Make your calculator bigger on desktop mode [similar to how large it is on mobile version].

Found a visual bug:

- If you type 1.5, 2.5 and etc... in "Amount" field then click "Convert", you'll get the following error [having said that, it does show the accurate prices]:
Quote
! Please enter a valid value. The two nearest valid values are 2 and 3.

hi SFR10,

thanks for your feedback, I see indeed most people prefer a cleaner and bigger calculator. I am working currently on a redesign of the homepage to make this possible.
