it is a shame that after all the crashes, some people have not yet committed to moving long term coins to paper wallets.

Damn it. So this is the culprit. Thank God I didnt make that one of my baskets. Is this for real? With a lot of people that are using this as a wallet then that is also a lot of bitcoin to rob. Creepy.

Lord, when will people learn not to keep their money in someone else's wallet...

coinbase lets me in but it is really laggy. I guess the next few days will be great to buy cheap BTC for people who are in long term.

Same here. It's understandable - I'm sure they're overwhelmed with logins this evening.

Check out blocknet guys, they have a working decentralized exchange, you can trade between several altcoins and BTC at the monent.

Still in beta, but is working.

It will put an end to this shit.

Will look at this. Since it is getting scary for those wallet sites or exchange site. Bitfinex is one of the known exchanges yet this happens and they are letting it. They are keeping money and I think that dont sink in their minds that it should be protected all the time.

I thought they had the majority of bitcoin in cold storage.  I also think its funny Coinbase is down for "maintenance"  Im sure two of the larger exchanges being down is not helping the value.

Wow, just checked my phone and news about Bitfinex all over... between 119756 and 157905 BTC lost... Unbelievable, this is just astonishing. And apparently they didn't have cold storage either! Wow...

EDIT: looks like its confirmed to be 119756 BTC gone.

You should say people in general, not just Bitfinex. It wasn't their money.

Anyone know if ETC at bitfinex safe?
Not exactly sure, but if its an altcoin or related to Ethereum, then the representative did post the altcoins were not affected. But I can't be sure if they would still pay that out, since they will likely use whatever they have to cover their personal losses first.

Anyone know if ETC at bitfinex safe?
Their community Manager (can't confirm the validity of this) went on Reddit and claimed that ETC wasn't affected.
