i guess not. isn't it funny?  aprox  70 mil lost and nobody is upset  Smiley
Actually people are upset, very upset. They are trying to crowd source effort to bring Bitfnex to justice. The problem is they are rather unorganized bunch.

This is whole subreddit dedicated to Bitfinex hack: https://www.reddit.com/r/bitfinexcal/

And here you can find Bitfinex Lawsuit and Information Gathering thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/4xd5km/bitfinex_lawsuit_and_information_gathering/

Unless i am very wrong here but i think bitfinex is back in business and they are doing well right now.
That's s much worrying as it is surprising, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. I just hope that they aren't creating fake volume. I guess time will tell - but I certainly wont be putting any of my hard earned BTC their way.

Most Chinese exchanges are creating fake volumes as they have 0% trading fee. The Bitfinex might be an exception.

Considering they're doing so much random stuff id strongly advise avoiding them for a while. The volumes they suggest seem to be fake as they are ridiculously high volumes just after the attack. They will have lost many loyal customers with the stupid BFX token idea and the initial failures in security.

Did they ever announce how they were hacked? They paid some experts to find out but the experts said they couldn't work out how the hackers did it. How can their loyal customers trust them if they can't work out what failures in security the hackers used?

Bitfinex as many other exchangers have at least 70% fake volumes. Why do they do that? Because they attract many clients which believe that a company with many transactions is a a trusted one. Smiley

the thieves are still online. so funny.... they stole over 25 mil USD and they are OK Smiley

this is the BTC market ! full of shady businesses, thieves, brain washed and only few "normal" persons...

Sure but who's who? How do you tell them apart?

A few normal people in a sea of shit is the reason mainstream society won't use Bitcoin. They don't have time to pick up every turd out of the sea and inspect it thoroughly to make sure they aren't getting scammed. Better to just ignore Bitcoin and stick with things you know like Amazon Payments and PayPal.

PayPal alone features a market cap 5 times larger than Bitcoin and they also screwed up many people in their legit ways. I'm far more comfortable getting paid in BTC than PP and don't mind to pay first considering seller's rep.

Most people are morons who just follow the crowd. They kept using postal money orders to pay for their online purchases until eBay abandoned this obsolete shit finally. PP also won't rule forever. Bitcoin is just a weird thing for most ppl other than comp geeks fools and fintech sharks Bitfinex customers now, but it's moving in the right direction.

I'd agree with everything you say with the minor change above.

My guess is they probably just took off with the funds themselves, and then blamed it on a hacker. It's the best way to make money nowadays, since Walmart isn't hiring anymore

The BFX tokens are baked by the markets faith in bitfinex's ability to raise sufficient money via equity sales to repay their customers.

Good luck. Their volume is abysmal now. Liquidity is gone. They repaid the 1% out of funds that they retained for operations, not capital inflow. What kind of outside investor would touch them now with their legal exposure? Socializing losses of bailed assets and securitizing debts--issuing them to US customers? Good luck, Giancarlo, Rafael and company.... you're going to need it where you're going.....

Bitfinex did and is doing a lot of illegal things. They run a financial business without license, they stole funds, they issued securities, they have fake volumes and many others...

Still, no lawsuit.

I heard there is a class action against the Bitfinex at the moment.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4xdj4s/where_do_we_go_to_join_the_bitfinex_class_action/?st=it3zc40s&sh=c0639b5a

I have been in communication with Bitfinex support for the last week and reading everything that is going on. I do not agree with their unilateral decision to handle customer losses as they have. I have given them ample opportunity to settle with me via compromise on commission structure and they have refused. I'm ready to sue.
