I think cryptopay's plan C is to have ICO and than collect enough fund like monaco and tenxpay to build their own credit card platform. Don't know which cards they will start issuing if both VISA and MASTERCARD will go against the use of bitcoin debit cards.

Bitcoin ATM might be installed in majority of the country in next few years which will completely replace the use of VISA or MASTERCARD to spend your bitcoin.

I found here one provider not use wavecrest company

countries does Cryptopay issue cards to: https://help.cryptopay.me/cryptopay-bitcoin-debit-card/general/what-countries-does-cryptopay-issue-cards-to update at 01/September/2017

Cryptopay was using Wavecrest for its Visa debit cards and was caught in the shutdown along with all the others. To its credit, it quickly came up with a Plan B Mastercard offering, but it has just announced that it too must close. It might still be OK in Europe only. Specifically, you can still spend anything you have previously loaded on your Cryptopay Mastercard (virtual or plastic) but you can't load the cards any more. Cryptopay is apparently working to find a Plan C. I hope they succeed - they have been good to deal with.

The end result is very odd, with Visa apparently having destroyed BTC debit cards for most of the world outside the EU, and now a Mastercard provider having a similar effect.

Some argue that these cards just prolong fiat's dominance and that we should all be buying goods and services in crypto alone rather than fiat. I get it, but the crypto debit cards sure are were handy in the meantime.

I hope the industry bounces back quickly.

Just when bitcoin started to become more popular our card issuers from MY Choice Corporate decide to call it a day thought this meant more business for them?

It's not like they had a choice. They were acquired by Visa International and must take orders from their new bosses.

I wonder why EU residents are allowed to keep and use their cards while the rest of the world is excluded. What is the rationale behind this? Are we non-EU card holders all money launderers and criminals in the eyes of Visa? Or is it a move to maintain and sustain a competitive edge in the payment industry? Baffles me how choking the geographic majority and favoring a minority can lead to better revenue figures.

But it's Visa. They have been around before I was even born. So I guess they know what they're doing.

Yes, it's official. Just got this email:

Dear xxx,

Due to the licence restriction of our card issuer, the xxx card program (Prepaid and Real-time Conversion card types) will no longer be supported for all cardholders after October 15, 2017.

How will this impact me?

Your xxx card will remain open for use until 15 October, 2017 11:59 PM GMT. After that, your card will be closed and you will no longer be able to use it.

What steps should I take next?

You should, therefore, use up or withdraw any balance on your card before 15 October 2017.Withdrawal can be made from any visa-supported ATM machine.
We also recommend that you stop loading further funds onto your card effective immediately to avoid any balance remaining on your card.
Although this situation is out of our control, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our cardholders. We want to assure you that we are actively looking for suitable products to bring convenience to our customers. Details will be announced in due course, so stay tuned.

I just ordered mine and the fees may be somewhat high but it's the peace-of-mind factor that I value here.
IMO it mainly depends on how high the fees are relative to just spending BTC directly.

If you live in the US, you can buy most goods from actual BTC merchants or from Purse (excluding perhaps the most basic things like food, but personally I hold some fiat as well as BTC).

The fees would only be worth it if either you don't live in the US or Europe (a country with less BTC acceptance from merchants), or if you hold most of your savings in BTC and would use it a hell of a lot to make up for the crazy ordering fees.

Personally I live in Europe so I can just keep using my Xapo card.

Almost every Bitcoin loaded debit card is provided by WaveCrest.

AFAIK, the only one that is provided by a different company and won't face this limitations is the Golden Card from WageCan[1].

Yes, they are the only one providing cards not issued by Mychoice as of now, but 160$ for this card is just an outrageous price. Consider the cards can be in USD only, people have to pay the foreign currency fees. Between this fee and other fees, it takes about 5% to load the card (not considering then ATM fees, BTC rate) And another thing, you need a passport for the verification, something that not everyone has

I just ordered mine and the fees may be somewhat high but it's the peace-of-mind factor that I value here. I was using my MyChoice card the other day and I was worried while withdrawing, thinking the card could be frozen or blocked anytime. One should never be made to worry. It's unhealthy. A bank that makes one feel unsettled when transacting or embarrassed by a declined transaction is a bank to avoid.

Submitted my passport copy and a selfie holding the passport plus proof of residential address. I hope I get the card before my trip to Dubai next week. Shopping and dining in Dubai with a bitcoin card... that would be nice.
