"Satoshi" did not solve the double-spend problem. David Chaum solved the double spend problem with DigiCash back in the 1990s. Bitcoin is DigiCash with a distributed transaction log.

I wasn't really thrilled with the pro regulation conservative angle either.

It boils down to trust and choice...

1. we refuse any and all measure of regulation and taxation, and thus trust the anonymous option of trading online

2. we welcome regulation and taxation, and trust the government and banking cartel to take care of us

3. we find some happy middle ground where we come up with a bitcoin network "constitution" of sorts that serves as an agreement for btc to use their services and that provides that the services never allow a government seizure or a bank stranglehold or unnecessary fees etc. to take place, and put them on a public reputation system that can't be artificially tweaked.

If 3 or something similar isn't going to happen, then it boils down to putting trust in strangers with your money or putting trust in strangers posing as a central authority who have long since established their reputation for criminal enterprises and ripping off the citizens.

I'm so going for option 1.

Regulation of governments and banks needs to be the regulation imposed...not the other way around.

Wow, congratulations! Excellent documentary and even more excellent the idea of SQ1.TV.

All success in the world! It's a niche market, for sure, but so is National Geographic. Kudos!

Funny how Voorhees - the libertarian - manages to find a jacket, whereas almost all the rest of the "regulation is good" crew wear 2-buttons-undone checked shirts. It's like the most conservative peeps in bitcoin dress down, whereas the liberals dress up.

Just released our short Bitcoin documentary on https://www.SQ1.tv

The Bitcoin Phenomenon

Starring:

- Gavin Andresen
- Trace Mayer
- Erik Voorhees
- Fred Ehrsam of Coinbase
- Jeremy Liew (venture capitalist)
- Peter Vessenes of Bitcoin Foundation/Coinlab
- Bennett Hoffman of Buttercoin
- Angela Keaton of Antiwar.com

The primary storyline looks to show the difference in perspective between the libertarians/early-adopters and VCs/entrepreneurs looking to take Bitcoin mainstream. "There is clash of ideology and ideals" as noted by Jeremy Liew. Erik Voorhees offers a steadfast position. The central question asked is does Bitcoin need to shed its politics in order to pursue mainstream adoption.

We also have full-length interviews with all of the subjects above as bonus footage.

Now that I have seen it, can comment it was pretty good I liked how they explained transactions and made it a knowledge based video interesting stuff sort of a note guide of the general video topics.

-   Presents a Novel Interesting Solution to problems
-   Cash for the Internet also a payment network
-   Piece of digital information that has value as long as no one else knows that information value belong to you
-   NSA in the 1970s spread in the 1990s Public Key Cryptography
-   Used by everyone
-   Solved the double spending how do you prevent it from being sent to two different people at the same time if It is digital easy to copy, but Satoshi made it so everyone notices one is noticed the other is just ignored, key technical breakthrough
-   Could a bunch of people who don’t trust each other just by passing messages create a working function system
-   Don’t need to pay anyone to make sure system is valid paid by the system itself
-   Tied into the creation of new Bitcoins make sure double spends do not happen
-   System validates the transactions and make sure no one cheats
-   Tied into the creation of new Bitcoins
-   People validate the transactions miners make sure no one cheat and are awarded Bitcoins
-   Need to validate the mining supply proof of work
-   Miners need to run algorithm
-   All validate transactions participate in reality to see who is rewarded Bitcoins
-   Fundamental promises made by Bitcoin network
-   Supply too complex every four years half are given out (halving)

Keeps going but it was neat

Half way through watching it.
Great so far! Please spread and translate it!

Criticism: you don't mind putting your logo into the whole video but if you are not familiar with the speakers, you would appreciate seeing their names all the time, too. Or at least a 2s reminder every time you switch. I watch and I care a lot to connect names with faces and statements.

Haha, I actually kept hoping their names would pop up every now and again, but it is only a short documentary.

Wonder if evorhees approves of the sentiment of the second part. WTH!?!? What mind's child was this video of?
