Try to look at the market you will see that majority of alts will be dumped including ETH if bitcoins is dumping, thats the reality happening even by now and I didn't see the scenario where bitcoin follows ETH since many are still looking at the bitcoins as the top leader of the alts although ETH is the 2nd but there are still so many things needed to happen before it overcomes bitcoin.

There are really a lot of things we should consider here. Having Bitcoin is the highest market cap on cryptocurrency right now is a very huge advantage that other cryptocurrency will follow Bitcoin, it is one of the reason for me why Ethereum and another cryptocurrency will only follow Bitcoin.
As you can see how the Bitcoin Dominance moves lately (https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/CRYPTOCAP-BTC.D/),
if you can observe, if Bitcoin dominance is dropping, it's likely but not totally = Bitcoin dumps/bitcoin sideways and Ethereum is pumping or not dumping huge amount.

I don't think it's going to change anytime soon. It's always going to be Bitcoin and then Ethereum no matter the price of it is. I'm pretty sure that when you ask someone if they know cryptocurrency or the likes of it, it's always going to pop up as Bitcoin to be the first coin of it.

I think it's safe to say that it's not gonna happen yet. Maybe if there is an "ETH Market" on an exchange, then it could dictate it but the majority of the exchanges have these types of markets
  • BTC Markets
  • Fiat Markets
  • Alt Markets

I don't think it will ever, bitcoin is like the mother of other crypto coins and the others will not be able to exceed bitcoin because of the things that can affect it.
However, we should not focus too much on price movements which are indeed more dominant raise on the Ethereum, but still the value is more valuable bitcoin for all the properties it has until its role in the digital world.

Will Ethereum become deflationary in the future? Is it the future plan of Ethereum? I cannot remember hearing or reading this kind of plan. If there is this kind of plan, then it would better compared to its supply being unlimited.

But I don't think Bitcoin's price will follow Ethereum's price. It might be the other way around. Ethereum's price will follow Bitcoin's price. But that too is difficult to happen. Bitcoin's position is hard to reach. And the 21 million overall supply matters a lot.

Do you think it's possible that the Bitcoin price will follow Ethereum price in the future? When Ethereum becomes proof of stake and becomes deflationary, can it happen?
I think its the opposite, etherium follows the bitcoin in terms of value bitcoin is much higher than etherium. Many speculations since the bitcoin came to the top of all cryptocurrencies, etherium seems to be the second and this two is the best to invest long term because of the big profit that you can earn with them.

Im very interested in how proof of stake can alter ETH to have a greater positive dynamic but its not certain to do so thats why it'll be interesting to see.  I reckon there is an accumulation dynamic in ETH from POS and the way it encourages storing value in order to take part in the yield from transaction fees.   Nobody knows it will work out for sure but I have used POS blockchains since 2014 and they are quite viable in operation I think, on this scale I dont think its been done before and so it will finely get a proper test of good and bad factors.
Even after all that possible maybe positives or negatives, I doubt BTC would follow ETH for direction until the monetary base of ETH and/or revenue is greater then BTC and its got a long way to go yet.    Before then ETH will likely cycle many times through appreciation and sell offs just like BTC had to in order to get here, if only because some people have too much ETH and the value will distribute.  If ETH can keep up a greater demand vs supply even after this POS factor becomes old then maybe perhaps we can discuss this topic again, its not happening this year and it might fail anyway in some way.

ETH might grow a lot in the future because of its upcoming updates but that is not enough reason to take over Bitcoin, and force Bitcoin to follow the trend of ETH. We all know over the past years Bitcoin dominates this market and we always follow that trend, I still believe that despite of the growing competition in this market, Bitcoin will remain superior and its really hard to challenge BTC for some reason.
As far as ethereum develops and no matter how big the market cap is, bitcoin will still be considered a fundamental coin for crypto. because almost all the familiarity of the crypto community around the world is due to bitcoin, and because bitcoin is also a trend, other coins also have a place as a means of investment.

Ethereum is the king of altcoins this is true but when the majority of them turn out to be scams or bad projects then this ends up harming the reputation of ethereum long term.

Disagree with you. How come scam projects (other altcoins) can harm the reputation of Ethereum in the long term?

There is "no connection" to that. Ethereum already has a strong community so being reputable should not even a question here.

Projects running in Ethereum Network that turned out to be a scam are already a common thing we see in crypto since then. The impact of it is, there might be few investors willing to participate, for example, in crowdfunding, ICO, IPO, etc. of some projects in the future because of scams,

Time will tell but basing off on the current situation we are seeing in terms of community support then its impossible to say or think that Bitcoin is really following an Altcoins price which is really hard to believe as Bitcoin is the main coin on where we are mainly supporting. If ETH would become POS then there might be some significant changes in terms of price and demand but doesnt mean that it would overtake out Bitcoin  because no one can beat out the kind even though some alts are much better in terms of technicalities and features but still Bitcoin would be still be on the top or peak spot.

I don't think bitcoin will follow ethereum, although ethereum is so powerful and although ethereum is the king of altcoins.
Bitcoin is the king of all coins and all altcoins always follow the price movement of bitcoin. Everyone who is in crypto invests
in this speculative asset and that determines the market, if ethereum it is there that has Vitalik. It's obvious.
Ethereum is the king of altcoins this is true but when the majority of them turn out to be scams or bad projects then this ends up harming the reputation of ethereum long term.

It is kind of ironic, the very thing that makes ethereum a popular coin and that has helped its development as the second most popular coin in the market is the very same thing that affects it and makes it impossible for it to ever surpass bitcoin as some investors do not want their future to be tied to so many unknown variables.

Bitcoin doesn't follow any coins in the market no matter how high or potential it would be because everything would always matter with the demand and support of the community on bitcoin itself.

They can move on their own in terms of new updates or whatever the events that do happen but bitcoin doesn't really care at all. It would still remain to be the top crypto not only for few decades

but rather into the entire crypto market relevance and recognition. If you do believe about ETH potential then you can always opt to diversify instead.

That won't happen, altcoins always follow Bitcoin trend no matter how good that altcoins is simply because Bitcoin is the king and we always have to respect Bitcoin. We might see BTC pause on its trend for a while since it gives time for Altcoins to follows the Bitcoin trend but after that altcoin season, we always go back to Bitcoin and continue the trend until we reach the moon.

Why should bitcoin must follow Ethereum or any altcoin et.al? I'm not a hater because I'm also an investor of Ethereum but you need to understand first that the whole market follows bitcoin.

No matter bears or bulls, it's been proven that every cryptocurrency is following bitcoin. It should be Ethereum and all of the cryptocurrencies are following bitcoin that you have to understand and bitcoin will never follow any altcoin in pricing because he's the mover of them all.

To some extent it already does. When the ICO bubble burst in 2017 it caused the price of everything to drop. It damaged the reputation of cryptocurrency in general after so many of them turned out to be scams. If a big enough event happens with one coin, it will affect the price of everything.
It seems that DeFi is going to be that big event that you might be thinking of with a few already showing their true colors, if people can tell the difference, it will be a different story but I won't worry too much that bitcoin will suffer the same fate as the 2017-2018 because a lot of things have changed, with more institutional investors and being considered by more people, we might be on the right track.

I really think that your question is the other way around, I really think it is Ethereum to follow the price of Bitcoin, I think that the price of Bitcoin has really been established in a higher price right now ETH will surely be having a hard time in keeping up with it and now that there is Bitcoin Smart Chain that can be a competition with ETH

ETH really needs to fix up first its higher gas fee on its transaction if now BSC will surely follow-up to ETH.

can it happen? yes anything can happen, be it Bitcoin which will go to the price of Ethereum or maybe Ethereum which will go to the price of Bitcoin, anything can happen, but we analyze far from fundamentals and supply, in Bitcoin supply there are only 21 million which is very Fewer than Ethereum which has hundreds of millions of supply, of course this makes it difficult for Ethereum to reach a price like Bitcoin, and Bitcoin will also find it difficult to return to the price of $ 1000? yes for now it's impossible.

Ethereum is correlated to the movements of bitcoin and it is not the other way around, this has been true since the existence of ethereum and it is true for almost every coin in the market except stable coins and coins that have not been on the market long enough to draw conclusions from their behavior if we compare it to bitcoin.

The only way this could change is if ethereum took control of this market and became bigger than bitcoin and got more support from the community, which is something incredibly unlikely as you may know already.

If you mean Ethereum will beat bitcoin position in the future, and all other coins will follow Ethereum price movements, I think that is not possible. Bitcoin will remain the most prominent cryptocurrency as long as cryptocurrency exists, and bitcoin will always be the main attraction.
