Shit, did I leave the stove on?
Iceland's landscape is surreal and looks like it's out of this Earth. I hope to get the chance to visit the country some day.
By the way my family have a trip planned to visit Norway next year in September and we will be going on a cruise to explore the Norwegian fjords. I would love it if you could plant some new bounties around this region  Grin
Jokes aside, I have an idea. Why don't you place new caches in the farthest locations of Europe? Like for example a cache in the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost points of continental Europe? I think it will inspire budding travelers to make the effort to find these caches during their travels. Just an idea mate.

The revolution will be monetized!
Can we have a new one, whilst this one is still running? Hopefully the new one will not be that remote. Did you promote this only on this forum or did you promote it on social media too? The success of this is dependent on the exposure it gets, and how many people hear about this.

This thread stays on the front page for only a few days, when it gets bumped or only a few hours depending on the traffic in this section. It is actually strange that they have not moved it yet to the Games & Rounds section.  Huh

I plan on doing this again and in a less remote location. I almost left one in Vancouver last week. As far as promotion... I only advertised it here. I was going to post at geocacheing.com but found out what a ridiculous system they had and gave up after two weeks of trying to get approval.
You also have a point about this being in the games section. I posted it here first because I thought it would go in hours. It later evolved into more of a game.

Well, there are only around 300.000 people living in Iceland, so I'm guessing there's only a handful of people actually looking and aware that this exists.

In a few weeks or so, I'm thinking of doing something like this in my own country, Belgium. I think that one might even be found before this one Cheesy

Yes, not a lot of people on the island. However there is at least 1 huge bitcoin mine within a few kilometers of the cache.

Will the caches value increase over time if no one finds it?  I like the idea and wish I could get out there to see the beautiful landscapes, amazing photos!   Smiley
As long as bitcoin value rises it will go up. Even if it goes up very high I will leave it there until 2018. If no one claims it by then I will assume the ocean has claimed it.

Great idea, how did this fall on your mind to do? Do you just wish to spread the word, or there is some deeper meaning in all this? Maybe you own the shop or cafe that accept bitcoins, so these people will come to your place most likely.
Anyway great thing, I respect your words, at least they will learn about bitcoin if they didn`t know for them before, and they can enjoy playing your interesting game I can say.
Thank you for your kind words. I just like promoting bitcoin. I get nothing back except being part of this revolution in finance. I just thought it would be a fun game.

Could see some one flying over to Iceland now that we have more flights heading there from Canada.
Once the upward tick of bitcoin becomes more evident the rush should happen, interesting no one has picked it up though.
If you fly Iceland air to Scandinavia they have a great deal on a stopover in Iceland, I think it's free. Even if you had just a short layover you could reach this spot with a 5-10 min. cab ride.

60 days and no one picked up this money yet. As I write this the cache is worth over $80!

Wow, 30 days and nobody collected the money?  Huh

Considering how people will solve captchas all day to make pennies, I am a little surprised that this wallet is still there. (Or at least I think it is, the money has not changed addresses). I know that it is not enough to fly to Iceland. Still, there are no rules here and anyone could partner up or something to get a cut of the loot. I will soon open this up to a wider audience by publishing it on geocaching.com.

Geocaching.com kinda sucks by the way.  To publish a cache you have to take a quiz, follow a bunch of rules and wait forever for a reviewer to OK your cache. However once it is done I suspect the money will promptly disappear. So make your plan now and claim your treasure!

If no one wants it I will take it off your hands  Grin

Iceland is so remote, no wonder people have not claimed it yet.  Wink ... Cannot wait for this to take off and someone doing this in my

neighbourhood.  Grin This sparked an idea with me, and a bunch of us {weekend campers} went out and did something similar. The kids

found the treasure within an hour, and it was so popular... we had to create another treasure and let them search for it again. Thanks OP,

we had a whale of a time doing this.  Grin

Thanks all for the kind words in this thread. I think I will do this again and include some of your suggestions. I especially like the idea of of online users being able to join the treasure hunt and perhaps provide clues for those who can actually get to the prize. I'll have to come up with a better format in advance. This time I was experimenting a bit.
I hope whoever claims this treasure does send me an email. It would be cool to have a conclusion to the story. But if the money moves and no one ever steps forward then I guess we'll just have to think of him/her like Satoshi.  It could really happen at any time now. Cheesy

Thanks for the nice puzzle. Maybe the hint to the city came a bit too early though. Next time you may be able to do more subtle hints like pointing the hardware wallet towards the city, etc.

The photos look amazing by the way, really gets me to want to go to Iceland as well. Maybe sometime in the near future I can free the funds and time to go for a trip.

Payment received I confirm, thanks again RodeoX,Nice photos I am planning to visit Iceland sometime in the future.
btw I think that this is an interesting way to promote Bitcoin in other forums and communities where people are not familiar with cryptos.

Well, the .1BTC is just sitting there now. Anyone can go pick it up or maybe arrange with someone in Iceland. Remember there is also a .01BTC additional prize for emailing me a photo of the cache.  The clock is ticking now.  Norrisk has pinpointed it on streetview but was unable to figure out what the monument is about. I couldn't figure it out either when I was there, lol.
Stay tuned for updates on the treasure!
@Nobitcoin - The 1909 date was a reprint date I think. I removed it to avoid confusion.
