Lol, it is pretty much guaranteed that these unneeded shitcoins will crash. Time will tell that bitcoin as the first cryptocurrency will remain the best. It doesn't matter whether Eth has smart contracts or not, all of the functions are impractical.

Yeah in this year bitcoin has real chances that it reach to the value of $1200 or $1300 sooner, as halving is just a month ahead, and this event is responsible for a big boost in the price of bitcoin.

It's possible but if you ask me we have finally found some good resistence at the current price point. Which makes me doubt it. The max seems to be 50-100 dollars now.

I'd say you are both proven wrong. The flaw was definitely in the ETH sidechain code. And much of the money spilling out of ETH headed into Bitcoin. I'm confident the price would not be this high today if it wasn't for the DAO hack. I will say I bought a few BTC worth of DAO and ETH this morning to make some quick money, as I felt they were oversold.

I guess the DAO holders revert back to ETH, since it was ETH they held in the first place.
So no this will not give BTC a boost to reach to 1200 or so. The only people who know are the people behind this pump.

i dont think what happened to ETH/DAO will affect Bitcoin that much. prior to this ETH seemed pretty stable on ETH/BTC price even when BTC was rallying like crazy, either way i think most of the ETH supporters already use bitcoin and its not like they're going to jump ship the fuck up was DAO's fault for writing an exploitable contract, not ETH...

If you're using the prior increases to prove this point, it's not necessarily because of predicted factors. Although the price has jumped dramatically, it's still too hazy to say anything about $1200-$1300.

I doubt that it'll happen.

I know, I thought that there would be another price correction before it got to these prices, but it looks like it's going straight up.

The closer we come to the block halving, the higher the price will be. Once we are like a month away from the halving, then people look back at this price of $445 as being very low. The price will definitely rise to much higher levels.
Just have some patience and collect yourself as many coins as possible. After the block halving it will be much harder to do so.

Yes, halving is really very beneficial for bitcoin in this year, everyone was expecting that with halving the price of bitcoin will increase to a higher value and some were not agree with that, but now when we look at the preev we can say that yes halving is bringing a big profit for all of us.

It is reasonable to expect the impact of halving at the early spring next year and I think it may be played by the speculators, yet I do not expect to surpass the $1k mark before halving, For that to be achieved we need some fundamental development around which the next mania-phase can be built. Potentially there are plenty of such events in the Bitcoin calendar for 2016.

It would be funny if it comes to that, and if you study this moment it makes sense. However 1200 is still to far away, and I don't see it happening to be honest.
