I am curious about mining BTG too. I don't know how many days it will take to mine one BTG with a GTX 1080. This coin is going to be very difficult to mine i think. Maybe more difficult than ETH. As Bitcoin is older than ETH.

It will be much easier than it was with zcash. Pool-algo-miner infrastructure for equilhash already done, we need just adapt

Algorithm was announced as Ethash (same as ZEC/ZEN/etc) - so NVidia cards will have an edge at current pricing but the AMD RX 470/480/570/580 aren't going to be BAD choices, pretty close to a tossup on hash/$ at current pricing and as I recall hash/watt only favors the NVidia side a little.

There is no way to know what the price is going to be or the total hashrate after the first few days - but I predict that total hashrate will settle in such that the profitibility ends up being very close to the same "basket" that ZEC/ZEN/ETH and such are in.

Start of mining has been announced as 1 November - but last time I checked they still didn't have a working wallet.

It should cost no less than 400-700$ to make it profitable to get it I don't see the benefits in production.  Huh

Hi There, I'm not that expert in mining or not related to as I don't have that much money to buy powerful ASIC machines to mine bitcoins...

But, according to btcgpu.org Bitcoin Gold is for GPU miners.  Grin and that can really mine a lot of money using GPU's right?
How much money they can make with AMD RX580 8GB? Seems like a noob type question but really interested to know...

Buddy, what you heard is right, Bitcoingold is mined using gpu cards and it is asic resistant. But now we cant say much about its profitability because I heard its mining will start from november15th. So lets wait till then. Even I am also planning to mine it. Just waiting for miners reviews about it. If its profitable I will try a hand on it . Hope its price will increase in future.

Who knows until it happens. It is being announced as equihash, so a computer could possibly handle it. It depends on many factors. The very fact that it is being put out there as a fork will give it some following and that could mean a lot of mining. The announcements seem to push people to trade and buy, but until that moment there is no telling what the diff will be, the value, or anything.

The developer is not very competent. So it might not happen.

Nothing is decided yet. It depends on its difficulty and coin price.
But AMD gpu seems to have low profitability compared to NVIDIA, because of its algorithm, equihash.

Initially miners will try mining bitcoin gold if it isn't profitable then they will just switch back to whatever is more profitable. It will be interesting nonetheless. Do we know what pools are going to support it?

There are great chance that bitcoin gold will be profitable. But that depend of number of people join mining.
Almost all coin are profitable on low difficulity, so worth to try in any case.

I'm seriously doubting if btc gold will be every proftiable. There are many miners that looking for an alternative to mining ETH, but this is you decision

Looking on the other perspective, I think you've already highlighted the answer. I guess their domain name speaks for itself that this new fork of btc is for gpu miners. BTCGPU.ORG / BTC + GPU
As far as the price is concern, I'm sure that it wouldn't surpass or even get an equivalent price the same with BTC. It's already been tested out on the BCH fork and I have a strong feeling that it would be the same.

Well, if the fork truly happens then it's not bad idea to evaluate it first and try to gpu mine to check the profitability.

No reals informations about Bitcoin Gold mining.

If Bitcoin gold is GPU mineable, the expected revenue will depends of the numbers of miners and the price of the coin.
Do you have these information ? No.
ou have to wait and see the "D day".

But AMD GPU are bad to mine the expected BTG algo

Therefore, nvidia graphics will be preferred? Which algo is expected?

I'm curious too as to what the profits are gonna be with GPU mining Shocked I guess we'll have to wait after the 25th of October to know?

Yes, I guess too. And maybe BTG price will be same as BTC and if that happens that will be goldmine for GPU miners. Because I will purchase 4x AMD 580 then and start making money haha...  Grin

Is there any pool for GTG?

We are hard at work to have a BTG pool up and running on launch day at https://poolmining.org. Please check back on launch day - assuming the BTG developers are able to hit their deadline of 25th October.
