Looking through here, there were all kinds of warning signs as recently as two days ago about mybtgwallet.com. It was totally a super expensive lesson; but we got burned hard. Next time, I'll follow my instincts; I *knew* I should have moved the BTG and had *her* move her money, too. I was just lax about it, because the Bitcoin Gold developers were pushing the site on Twitter, on their site, etc. I thought: "why would they do that if it were a scam?"

Well, again, I'm actually kind of thinking now that it's not some "3rd party". I bet you if we followed the money and cross referenced at least where the BTG that was stolen went, it'd likely line up with at least some of the wallets they used for their little "premine" right after mainnet launched.

Yup. For my first post, I was just about to sound off about this. Same exact thing.

I thought it was safe, because it had been (previously) listed in the "Ecosystem" at the official BTGold site, and was actually one of the first ones available. Otherwise, I would never have entered my private keys there, or the private keys to my girlfriend's wallet. She had about $2000 in BTC in her Jaxx wallet, and we were getting the BTG.

We entered our private keys into mybtgwallet.com ... again, thinking it was safe. I had told her to move her BTC asap, but I didn't push it super hard, because I couldn't imagine an official website linking to a scam right on their website. However, at the time, the "wallet" couldn't transfer the BTG, saying that the mainnet hadn't been released yet. Once it was released, we kept refreshing the site, only to see that it still hadn't been updated since the 10th, or two days before mainnet. Eventually, we just used Coinomi to transfer the BTG and she kept her money in Jaxx. The *only* other place we exposed the private keys would have been to the Coinomi wallet. And I don't think that they're sucking money out of accounts these days.

This evening, we check in, and guess what? All of her BTC gone (except for $7). Also, all of my BTG gone. They wiped us out. She called me crying; that was a lot of money for her. I feel super guilty, because I was the one that talked her into investing during the last dip. Of course, when I check the site now, it's changed. The other two options are gone, the certificate is expired, it links to a *different* github address (it used to be this guy: https://github.com/iancoleman/), and all the credits and other info are gone. And, of course, it's disappeared from the Ecosystem section of the official site without a word from the BTG devs.

There's absolutely *no way* it wasn't mybtgwallet.com. I can post the transaction later, on. But here's the real question: how involved were they with these folks? Because the person who's currently linked to mybtgwallet.com is, at the moment, a contributor to the BTG project on Github:

https://github.com/John-Dass?tab=stars

... and the "official" wallet, as well:

https://github.com/John-Dass?tab=repositories

Did we just get scammed by the official creators of Bitcoin Gold for our Bitcoin (and our Bitcoin Gold)?

I'm sick to my stomach, here.

We're exactly in the same situation...

For now i've created a new wallet on jaxx latest version & transfered all my other funds (Eth + LiteCoin + Zcash) that was still on my old wallet to my new one. So new Seed (Pass-phrase) and new wallet addresses with new private keys. (All fresh)
For BTC i'm now runing the full bitcoin-core deamon and need to resync whole blockchain (already BCH chain on my pc).
Nothing special, just a full deamon with full access on the wallet + a Password to access the wallet.dat file. Blockchain, wallet.dat, logs, backups, tx's logs, fees choice.

At least they didn't empty your whole Jaxx wallet..
What's the use of running the whole btc core deamon for this case?

I just send an email to [email protected], they are at least partly responsible for this (didn't they do any due dillegence/code checking before giving this wallet as link).
they did for all my BTC (200$).
They just dont get  the time or don't notify to take my ETH because i was able to transfer them to another wallet.

Another stupid victim here, my whole Jaxx wallet was emptied (it was a lot..not only BTC) about 1 day after I used http://mybtgwallet.com.
I can give all the details if it's of any use.

Because it was referenced on the official http://bitcoingold.org/ site, I assumed it was safe and checked by the devs.
They now removed the link from their site and also at the bottom of their page it now says they are not responsible for third parties, bla, bla.

At http://mybtgwallet.com it now states 'Access to the site direct from your browser, dont search in google or access from any other website. It’s reported that some hackers are disguising the real wallet. We are investigating the problem.'
Also the github is updated.

What to do now??

Hey there,

today whatwas my surprise when i open my BTC Wallet on Jaxx.io ?
All my BTC was gone and my balance is now showing 0 BTC

In fact you'll see in the details of my tx (down) that it was done early this morning and i was connected to https://mybtgwallet.com.

And now it's not listed on the BTC-Gold official website anymore and on the web wallet it's a warning message that say "Access to the site direct from your browser, dont search in google or access from any other website. It’s reported that some hackers are disguising the real wallet. We are investigating the problem.".
You can not import anymore any private key or 12Word pass-phrase like the Jaxx 12 words pass-phrase.
It's important to notice that 'ive import my 12 word pass-phrase from jaxx in the web wallet of mybtgwallet.com so i highly think it's a scam or a hack...

Any idea of what to do now ? All my BTC or lost forever ?

I'v retraced the tx and all i can give you is this (the last adress is the suspicious one and i don't know it):

AMOUNT TRANSACTED 0.02956628 BTC, FEES 0.0007705 BTC, RECEIVED about 15 hours ago (15/11/2017 at 05:00 FR (1 BTC = $6850)), CONFIRMATIONS 6+

0.02956628 BTC ($202.53) to

thanks a lot for any help that will be benefic,

Do you have more proof about this  we.. honestly i don't trust any wallet for bitcoin gold unless if its recommended by bitcoin gold developers..
That is why hard to trust to anyone you should wait for the official update about bitcoin gold or use exchanges instead like coinomi ..
Try to contact it in bitcoin gold official website maybe they can explain about https://mybtgwallet.com. why they removed it in their website so that we can clear that this is  a scam wallet..

Thanks for your speed reply Smiley

How can i get in contact with bitcoin gold support ?
I really wan to clear the situation too Smiley

I don't know if you can trust this wallet. It is always dangerous to insert your private key into an unknown website, especially if you have your Bitcoin on that wallet.

Absolutely - it just ain't worth the risk. If you must do it, move your BTC out to somewhere safe first (assume the private keys will be compromised).

5. import privat key of the now empty wallet in a BTC Gold wallet.

How do I perform this step in https://btgwallet.online ? Moreover, I could not find any option to publish a signed Tx through it on Bitcoin Gold network either.

You can use but I do not believe it, it is best to transfer all BTC in the wallet through another wallet first. Make sure you are safe and make sure you do so

This one works only when we have coins on a Bitcoin Gold address. But, how do we move coins from a Bitcoin address to Bitcoin Gold address?

you have to import the private keys of the BTC-addresses that had BTC in it during the snapchat.
1. check adresses
2. export private keys
3. create a new wallet.
4. move all BTC to the new wallet.
5. import privat key of the now empty wallet in a BTC Gold wallet.
6. double check what i wrote and dont blame me if something went wrong.
