I think the same thing.
Altcoin for me is just a tool for bridging my goal to Bitcoin, because the high bitcoin price makes bitcoins hard for people middle-lowers like me, the way I always do to buy Bitcoin. sometimes all my Bitcoin is invested in some altcoins but in the end I sell them all for more Bitcoin.

I agree, those altcoins are way too far to compared with bitcoin even though if they were existed in the year where bitcoin created, also there are lots of coins that existed before but already disappeared but bitcoin still remains now.

Bitcoin truly does not have rivalry since it is the fundamental cryptographic money and still uses in the market. we have not believed that altcoin is one of their rivals isn't fit for being a contender since they have quite recently made it since they stole the possibility of bitcoin and they can not remain solitary without bitcoin. 
In my own opinion, soon Ethereum will take over bitcoin in leadership, I think bitcoin has lost the dominancy over the altcoins, who knows soon,this company Buterin Vitalik and thier developers would speed up the progress of Ethereum to dominate all coins, only time can tell.

yes competitor may always be there but i do not think that any altcoin can come to bitcoin level, bitcoin is the most popular currency of the world and is ruling over the world and will hopefully continue as number one crypto currency of the world for a long long time. i cannot see any competitor of bitcoin in near future which can give tough time to bitcoin.
If you are just reffering to cryptocurrencies, bitcoin has many competitors, like ethereum, litecoin, eos, and a few other coins more. But in terms of "store value", then the only competitor that it has, is the fiat money and the banks
All those FUDsters that where saying year ago how Bitcoin would fail because another currency would take over get proven wrong year after year. The more time Bticoin is alive, the stronger it gets and the bigger the network effect. Sorry but there will not be a Bitcoin 2.0. Bitcoin will go to 100k+ per coin in the next 5 to 10 years, it will absorb all the value researched in the field if not directly through protocol improvements then through sidechains.
Bitcoin will remain the only solid coin. The only coin that survived for the longest time (other coins can't claim this unless they invent a time machine).
There will be alts that pump really hard and make people millionaires, but no alt is going to surpass Bitcoin's strength and solidity. No coin will get a bigger marketcap.
