2010 - 0.01$ (famous pizza event)
2011 - 10$
2012 - 100$
2013 - 1000$

It did not reach 100$ in 2012.  $15.60 was the high in 2012.

This is a sad thread Cheesy. It's the #1 bear speculation thread on life itself.

About bitcoin. My outlook right now long term is so dark that i'll get banned from bitcointalk.org if I spell it out!

Something in the line of total world reticule and condemnation ending up as a collectibles amongst ANCAP geeks on right wing computer rallies.
Paper wallets and Cascasious coins once in a while being traded on Ebay a curiosities, like Liberty Dollars are now.

meanwhile global banking invent other cryto currencies for it's self accounting properties, and in time will issue personal double keyed wallets to the masses, keeping governments in control. Historically Rulers have had periods where usury has been banned because of inflation / corruption. If we ever get to a post bubble world, a bitcoin like currency will fit the bill exactly.

You guys intend on dying?  Shocked

We all die eventually but with proper stress avoidance and advances in medical science, living for over a century is well within the scope of reason.

When I was a kid in my 20s, we all thought we'd be dead before we reached 30, given the excesses of our partying.

Well guess what, many of us are still going strong in our 60s and 70s. It seemed like all the goody-two-shoes straight Johns with dead-end careers were the ones who dropped dead early. (Touch wood!)

Maybe we'll all get nuked tomorrow, but I'll make my plans based on the fact that if I do live another half century, I want to be comfortable.

We will be fat and balding, no point in being rich in 2040

lol, yeah, I'd be 63 then.

I'll be 92, hopefully not fat (too much S&D&R&R) but the balding part has already started.

Even more reason to be rich. I don't pay for the S but the D and the R&R seem to cost more with each passing decade. Hopefully my bitcoins and Ethers will keep my twilight years rocking.

It will be worth seven chickens and one rooster to inseminate them.

Give a man a chicken and he'll eat for a week. Teach a man to make chickens fuck and he'll eat for a lifetime.

But how many dollars for an egg?

Neither Bitcoin nor humans will exist in 2040.

What do you predict to be our extinction event?

Nuclear meltdown of more than 400 fission reactors + lack of food production due to runaway global warming caused by the activation of several self-reinforcing feedback loops. On a severely overpopulated Earth, this leads to nuclear and biological warfare for the remaining food, clean water, oil and other scarce natural resources. Famine, pandemics and cannibalism ensues, lasting until the last humans go extinct.

Have a look at some statistics, e.g. arable land per capita, if you want to be frightened. And take into account the fact that human civilization represents the sixth big extinction event in Earth's history. We're decimating biological diversity, just to accelerate the cancerous growth of our depraved economy.

Probably worth this much:

Bitcoin in 2040 will be like comparing technology as it existed in 1988 to the tech of today.

Neither Bitcoin nor humans will exist in 2040. In the ruins of a war-torn planet, there might still be some cyborgs and/or robots, but they won't have any need for money or similar archaic concepts.

In the short to medium term:

Bitcoin will soon be succeeded by another cryptocurrency. One that is user-friendly, safe, fast and anonymous. The Bitcoin community is, sadly, failing to build a reliable, secure and -- most importantly -- user-friendly infrastructure. That will be the downfall of this particular cryptocurrency, but not of cryptos as such. I think Bitcoin's ATH was reached in November 2013. BTC price for most of 2014 will stay in the 300-700 USD price range, giving short-term traders decent opportunities to make money.
