As others have said, buy now and forget that you have bitcoin for a while. If you expect to make short term winnings, then bitcoin may not be your cup of tea.

If you are looking to hold BTC for long term, then just buy now. It is hard to catch BTC price but most of the time, it is rising.

When there is bad news, BTC price might dip, but you can’t be waiting for bad news to come and the price might just keep increasing.

Bitcoin is a long-time investment, so you can buy bitcoin and hold them, for resell it when the price is higher
And i think that can happen soon, maybe at the end of 2017 Smiley
But not as long as the stock markets, Imagine you need to wait for years to see some promising results for your assets to grow, but crytocurrency like bitcoin can be a short time investments but that will always depends to the person and the events that is happening to the market.

Well the best way to grow your investments to crypto these days is a long term one and for the short term investments are for the altcoins, the safe way to maximize your profits is just simply by hodling but if you want to take the risk and you have plenty of bitcoins of your own you can go for trading.

Bitcoin seems to be on the rise lately. I'm wondering what might be the best way to maximise profits. Any suggestions?
Sell atleast half of your bitcoin at current price range and hold half to sell at much higher price. Alternatively you can use fiat you will get after selling your bitcoin to buy few altcoins whose value is quite dumped after pump in bitcoin and wait for some correction in bitcoin's price.

You might get very good profit in this way and in the mean time your risk of lossing so much during correction after huge pump will be quite low.

Bitcoin for a long term investment, altcoins for short - mid term. Basically you have to buy BTC and forget about it, because you do not want to see it go back to $4000-5000. If you do see this - it will make you feel worse and you might sell at a loss.
I have seen tens of times that buying and forgetting is better than trying to trade and maximizing your stash - you lose time and you can tilt if something happens not your way.

It was good to buy when it dropped at 5900$

So what? Shouldn't invest in bitcoin anymore?
It was better to buy that time. But now the price is still rising.
There are many people think that they have lost the opportunity and it is late.
Those who have invested earlier in this market have made higher profits. But now is still good time to buy bitcoin even for long term and even in short term as the current price rise has started recently after the correction

Correct. With every ATH, it means that if you bought at any of the last 10/20/50 ATHs, you still made a profit. If you are buying and holding long term (years) the price you buy at the moment matters much less than if you are trying to day trade.

Bitcoin price is about to peak, if you want to make profit, you can try to short it when  you noticed that it is about to make a correction. Then buy back again. It is the only way I can think that can maximize your profit  from what you have except from holding long term.

Times like these, it is not advisable to make short term investment in bitcoins because the price is very unpredictable. If you sell somewhere not on top and then re-buy at not so low, you might end up losing profits. That's why I strongly suggest that you HODL your bitcoins and wait for a decent target price like $500,000. That is the safest way to maximize your profits. Also, you may want to research on ICOs such as Angel Tokens. This can give you huge profits in a short span of time.

It would be difficult to get to ride the rising rates of bitcoin since the price is actually high. However you might want to try waiting for a dip since that happens in markets nowadays

if you are familiar with margin trading,... you can always short altcoins that are dropping hard during the bitcoin rise and enjoy the profit you gain. and then any profit that you make you can invest in bitcoin so you have more bitcoin before the new record is set and new ATH is reached. that way you have more profit than just buying bitcoin directly.

reached $ 8000, with so much good news the price can increase a lot

buy when it falls a lot and sell when it goes up a lot, it can be a good way to earn a good profit, for example the people who sold when the bitcoin price was $7500 and then bought when the price was $5900 and now they sell when the price is $8000

Go for a long term investment if you really want to join with the ride. Bitcoin has so much journey ahead so I think it is not really late to join. Buy coins that you can afford to and hold them. Even if they are just a fraction of bitcoin, they have worths and holding them will make them grow if you got it right.

It's not easy to make short time gains using bitcoin, due to transaction prices. The best way to go about this is to buy, and wait for the price to incease, like pretty much every other investment.
