The only altcoin I think might give Bitcoin a serious competition is Libra. Facebook is a well known brand, so that’s really going to make Libra a huge competition more than altcoins like Ethereum and XRP, a lot of people are going to adopt it starting with Facebook users, although Bitcoin will likely stand strong as it has always been for being the first cryptocurrency and also one of the most secure.
The reason I said Libra will likely be a good opponent is because of the association that is backing it up, I know that PayPal has dropped off after the controversy that has followed, but as time goes on if the project is successful they might get back into it, I guess

Bitcoin was the first. It works and works well. It's well written and safe. These other coins are made by just anyone and are not safe. You don't even know what the people have done to the code. Most coins just exist and that is all. The whole point of creating currency is to use it. Without being able to use it it's useless. Bitcoin will go forward along with a few altcoins but everything else will fall behind and die.
I think that not only bitcoin, but the whole cryptocurrency is the future of the financial world of mankind, as the time will come when not only cryptocurrency users, but also governments will realize how profitable the use of cryptocurrencies is, how much the quality of services for people will improve, given the speed of transactions, security and independence all digital assets.
Bitcoin can be the future, but it's how we use it that matters. If most people just Hodl their coins or sell them, it's of little benefit. An article here from the BitBucks Blog sums it up quite well: Bitcoin is a currency, and as such, it is also a payment tool. Therefore you should Spendl instead of Hodl and pay with bitcoin.
I fully believe in bitcoin, altcoin I use to collect bitcoin. As you say. Altcoin is a lot. They compete with each other. So it can not be held for the long term. IEO at this time is just a means to make quick profits by investors. When the IEO coin has been released on the market, all investors will sell it and forget it. Waiting for the new IEO to come again.

because in investing people will prefer bitcoin, because bitcoin is a major pioneer of the blockchain system which is currently being developed by altcoin. but in the future I think coins that have a good impact and usability that can be used by many people will survive in the future.
