I was looking for an old thread posted by roslinpl about the imperfect part on bitcoin logo after I read the cointelegraph article, and found this thread. Actually roslinpl was the first one who saw the mistake; https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.17678817 (I dug so deep to find it). That thread could be considered as a historical thread though, but seems the roslinpl account ownership has been changed.

It maybe a genuine error occured ahile rendering the image cause we are talking about something which created at the time when technology is not that grown compared to now.

Or the creator encrypted some secret code like governments did at the time or world wars.

Or he just did with the intention, will someone notice it or not? But it took more than 10 years. Shocked

Why is it only now being questioned even before no one discussed the Bitcoin Logo problem, even that was already running 11 years ago when Bitcoin was established, I totally agree with you that the bitcoin logo has its own role, even luck for Bitcoin itself, so want to change it like anything everyone prefers the current logo, even if it just looks simple, the Bitcoin logo will always be of interest to many people.
It was noticed because people are looking for flaws or accidentally found one in it, I can look at the Bitcoin logo for hours but not looked at any imperfection but prefer to look and think about the role it plays in the Cryptocurrency community, the imperfection which is very small will have no impact whatsoever on how the community thinks about Bitcoin.

The debate that took place was not at the logo change stage, but in the image that the OP shared there was a slight imperfection, because there was an unusual scratch on the logo, so it's only natural that something like this was debated, Because the degree of perfection was an art whose judgment differed from each other. However I don't think there is a big problem with the current state of the bitcoin logo, even if you pay attention to the many versions of the bitcoin logo that we find on the Internet even though they look similar.

The logo issue doesn't affect bitcoin at all, because actually bitcoin has nothing in common with other products that highlight the Logo side, which I know the level of perfection will be very different from an appraisal perspective, meaning that the debate about the logo is a fairness and does not have a very prominent value.

If ever there will be a proposed new logo there should be consensus on the use of a new logo, and the majority should vote for a new logo for Bitcoin, but I don't see this happening now since Bitcoin adoption is encountering a lot of hindrances and issues, maybe in the future there will be a proposed new logo that is more futuristic and will reflect the status of Bitcoin at that time.
I'm not sure whether the bitcoin logo has a consensus or standard in its application, because after all bitcoin is widely recognized today is not the only reason the logo factor, although some people consider that the logo has an important role in the journey of bitcoin. If in the future there are additions or suppose there is a new logo design, then who will it be shown for? who will decide? and who has the right to choose the latest logo?

To be honest, I didn't really know that logos had a special meaning for bitcoin, if indeed my understanding isn't that much more correct than I already know.

Bitcoin isn't like a private brand or company. You can create your own logo if you wish. There is actually no policy or rule that strictly specifies a certain Bitcoin logo. As a matter of fact, the sort of de facto Bitcoin logo made by bitboy has probably a number of variations already. Some use only the white BTC character without the orange circle. Some use the one made by bitboy but with the BTC not slanting. Some just use the orange slanting BTC. There are no rules here.

To whom should anybody propose? Who should vote? How is it done? Who will run the voting? What is a consensus or how should it be achieved? What is a futuristic Bitcoin logo?

The author of the article made by Arijit Sarkar has been viewed by 40,989 and 27 times forwarded, he said there were two imperfect line angles on the Bitcoin logo image said to be made by bitboy.

I consider that the article published more than a few days ago on cointelegraph is a form of concern for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is so great that it has captured the attention of many people so that even the slightest flaws in a logo like the one published on cointelegraph are widely discussed.

Additionally Bitcoin logo can be changed by anyone since no one controlling it. The majority opinion is what makes that current logo official but now we can use any logo that we like because the creator is not active anymore to lead on the official changes like this.

In reality Bitcoin has many logo as long as the BTC sign is noticeable.

This is only related to a design made by someone against the Bitcoin Logo. In fact, it will not be a problem because what is published by the author of the article in our opinion is only a form of accuracy in seeing the Bitcoin Logo found in the photo made by bitcoy.

If you read the article, there is a paragraph that says that the flaws in the two locations on the Bitcoin Logo do not affect the way Bitcoin operates. That's already a clear answer.

I agree with this one mate.

imperfections sometimes create huge value to some creations but to the case of bitcoin its doesn't have anything to make it as a big deal since for sure this logo is created intended to make it somehow unique to the eyes of people who could see it and easy to remember as it is.

Maybe some perfectionist notice something which caught there attention but for sure majority didn't take anything damn about the possible flaws or imperfection about the logo.

I just have read an article on cointelegraph which claims bitcoin logo had an imperfection which was noticed 2/3 days back.
Check out this article- https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-logo-imperfection-found-on-original-artwork-after-12-years/amp
The logo created by forum member bitboy has created the logo. But someone noticed an unusual scratch on the logo. Haven't anyone noticed this earlier? I can't believe; I guess the scratch is the with a purpose.
Thoughts?

The guy who noticed that has very sharp eyes it is unnoticeable you need a magnifying glass to see it  Cheesy but this is a case of you'll find something if you want to see some, we have to ask bitboy if still active and if this is intentional or not, but even great works of art have their flaws that are unnoticeable unless the creator intentionally put it.
We need not correct it because it has no impact whatsoever its a logo, not software.
Maybe in the future, we can have a new logo but right now this is a perfect logo even if there is a very minimal flaw.

It's pretty strange that graphics designers haven't noticed that because they would have been in touch with this logo during the working process. By the way, was this flaw so important that it gained so much attention?

I wonder if bitboy's account is hacked or not. His last post comes from February 10, 2014 while he was recently active on September 22, 2022. I wonder if this news reaches to this person and he comes back Cheesy

He is definitely alive because his original bitcoin wallet isn't abandoned: 1BcQPKcvgLtBp8ZrRSHWewpd3h97BqEQb3

This forum is quite a strange place. A person comes out of nowhere and creates revolutionary coin, then somehow he disappears and another person becomes a forum owner, then someone comes out of nowhere with logo for bitcoin and it becomes a global standard. I really have to analyze and learn this forum.

Such journalistic investigations are more eye-catching than useful reports. Is there a single, agreed-upon standard for the Bitcoin logo?

I see that some sites use different shapes and some sites are different from others, but in general and without discrimination, you can know that this symbol refers to the Bitcoin currency.

Then you are talking about design since 2010 and the design tools were not that developed.
Thank God it wasn't done by Satoshi, the theories would have deepened.

Cointelegraph is poor to create quality articles for their website. This article is like you go to Times Square and say I found imperfection in a very big advertisement panel. An imperfection dot like a sand on the panel.

bitboy originally created a Bitcoin logo with classic or ancient style but after community asked for changes, bitboy made another version that is more futuristic and it's what we have today.

New icon/logo
More Bitcoin logos, buttons, and also some other graphics

It's trivial, of course. But it's amusing how both @_Bosch_ and @skyler_fs have noticed these inconsequential imperfections in the Bitcoin logo. That imperfect curvature is funnier, though. These microscopic discoveries are either accidental or these two must have so much time to spare that they started to zoom in on the Bitcoin logo to look for something interesting. LOL!

Anyway, had bitboy known that Bitcoin would grow to be this huge, he would probably have polished the logo more.

That's very interesting thing. Maybe it's a bit strange that nobody haven't noticed this tiny detail in all these years. Now it's main question, did author of logo left that detail intentionally, or it was mistake. It would be interesting if @bitboy would come here and answer it. He haven't posted anything since 2014, but he did loged in to forum last September.
I wouldn't call it imperfection. I would say that Bitcoin logo is imperfectly perfect Smiley.

After all imperfections are part of the originality of the logo, making it even more unique. It's an interesting curiosity for bitcoin enthusists. From now on, we know that a bitcoin logo to be trustworthy to its origins, it must have an imperfection, otherwise it's a cheap imitation. Smiley

I don't think there is any big deal in this case

I was just a logo, and we all sure as hell know how it was intended to be. I am not a professional graphics designing, but I did study some fine art and have some talent in art. Such "imperfections" happen at times  Wink

I also don't think its a big deal either all the great painting have flaws in them, but this Bitcoin logo is ignorable as long as the blockchain is working perfectly and there's no disruption it has had no impact on the community, in the past the community's motivation is on propagating and promoting the use of Cryptocurrency that they did not have time to look for imperfection on the official logo.
