Definitions would be handy.

They're right in the tweet posted in the OP: https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/1082006797421035521

Bitcoin Extremists. They think all other coins are scams and will go to zero.

Maximalists think Bitcoin is and will remain the dominant cryptocurrency but there is room for altcoins to exist and even do well.

I didn't notice at first......Almost 30K votes and nearly half voted for "Bitcoin Maximalist." I'm glad Charlie ran this poll. I've always felt the "altcoins are scams" crowd seemed overrepresented (on forums, social media). It's probably because they tend to be loud and angry about their opinions.

The only ones I really dislike are shitcoins like XRP which claim to be something special but are actually not better than our current money system...

The funniest thing about XRP is that it is supported by an army of fools sitting at home all day hoping that their $500 worth of XRP will be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Seriously, I have never seen such a delusional community within the crypto space. The very fact that they threatened a researcher stating that XRP's market cap is inflated artificially by supply that can't be spent, is a clear sign that we are dealing with imbeciles.

I get it that people invest in XRP to gain profits, that's perfectly fine, just don't pretend it's decentralized or that it has any connection to crypto in general. It's a fucking database.

I think there is no need to be an bitcoin extremist and hunt other shitcoins. The vast majority of them will be out of business anyways because their business model is flawed, over 99% of them are created for own profits or at least without any sufficient use-case.

I like alts, if they bring something beneficial to the crypto community, but unfortunately that is not happening very often. The only ones I really dislike are shitcoins like XRP which claim to be something special but are actually not better than our current money system...

I believe Bitcoin will remain supreme. I believe 99.8% of alts are useless shit that'll never go anywhere or achieve anything. I also believe that no one cares about any of that and all they want out of all of this is more dollars. Because of that they're not going anywhere.
Look people we got an extremist!

Denying other altcoins their rights! Coin nazi!  Grin

I guess I'm a maximalist but I still think that most altcoins are shitcoins that are going to die. I'm fine with them being there which doesn't make me an extremist, but it won't change the facts. Most altcoins are worthless pumped shitcoins or scams. You can accept it and move on or live in denial.

Im a bitcoin maximalist but I do see the merit and value in other alts,
well some alts. Most as we all know are useless and will fade away.

As rightly said bitcoin useage is real, trading in and out of Bitcoin for
alts and buying bitcoin with FIAT all contributes to useage.

Its because bitcoin is the base crypto, the number 1, its the most
widely accepted crypto unit, its the original.

I think altcoins can have legitimate use cases and can complement Bitcoin too.
They do. Let's be honest here, people can hate on altcoins as much as they want, but Bitcoin's main purpose within this industry is to function as reserve currency. Everything is paired/valued against Bitcoin.

People trade altcoins to gain more Bitcoin. People buy Bitcoin to buy altcoins. It's a very important utility most Bitcoin maximalists don't see, or intentionally try to ignore because they don't want to credit altcoins where due.

Bitcoin isn't the all in one coin, so we're rightfully having coins as Ethereum focus on smart contracts and Dapps, which might be used more for gambling and games right now, but use is use at the end of the day.

And I said, let's start a new pool here to see the actual result on bitcointalk.
So, what are you and why is that, huh?

Imho the pools on Bitcointalk are not great either: many don't bother to answer.
Also a pool about how is somebody sees himself is not really relevant  Grin

However, I voted "maximalist". I do believe in the chances of some altcoins (but I won't start advertising them here), although I don't expect them to jeopardize Bitcoin's reign.

Most of the alts are totally crap and useless but I'm still giving a space and understand the idea that there will be some alts that are still valuable and will dominate the other alts. I won't give the name of those alt/s but there will be.

So by defining on what I believe, I belong to the Maximalists definition of Charlie Lee, not the self-proclaimed type bitcoin maximalists. Bitcoin shall remain and will never be replaced but yeah there's a space for aspiring alts.

I would say that I'm a bitcoin maximalist as well. Although I have investment on some altcoins before, I just dumped everything and move to bitcoin, or maybe I can call myself purist. lol.

Anyways, there's a lot of altcoins that can really complement bitcoin and has real life usage like Ethereum or even XRP (but I'm sure purist hates that coin).

I like Charlie's definition for Bitcoin maximalist. I've always believed Bitcoin will remain the most dominant and valuable cryptocurrency. Yet I've also always been at odds with most self-proclaimed "maximalists" because I don't think altcoins are scams outright and I also don't think they'll ever go to zero. I think altcoins can have legitimate use cases and can complement Bitcoin too.

I chose to be a non-coiner, because that is the way it should be, I cannot and cannot support one coin, because what I know and believe is that each coin has a moment each and every person chooses the coin because it always develops and gives you profit right, which is those coin always have a good moments.

I see myself as a Bitcoin maximalist. My views of Bitcoin cannot be comprised  as am the only crypto enthusiast amongst my friends. They are waiting for me to make it big with crypto before they believe and am working hard towards that.

I'm not maximalist nor extremist, I'm a Crypto realist.
I realize that crypto currencies are 'the new stuff' and they are still easy to manipulate and I'm trying my best to make as much as possible.
Those no-coiner or hard-hodlers both are complete bs. A man must be realist because both groups are missing tons of opportunities being so 'hardcore'.

most of the altcoins were created just to earn or be part of the movement, no more. They will live for as long as there is interest and benefit. And it will be a very long time.

those utility tokens we are after by investing and trading in exchanges would be pointless if we don't believe it wouldn't be useful even just in their own ecosystem. if you examine it close there are way better projects besides BTC. counting all the developers who created altcoins, they are all maximalist who created tokens with  purpose.

Be sure that if cryptos are massively adopted, 90% of the altcoins will be gone in a coffin. We will have perhaps 20 coins used and each for different purposes (depending on your needs, perhaps your govt/location too). For example a coin for a fast transaction, a coin for privacy, etc.

Bitcoin is and will always be the king, however, there is a slot for the queen  Grin
No matter how regrettable it will happen. People simply don’t make sense to use the rest of the Altcoins, when everyone uses a few basic ones. Although it is possible that many individual services will have their own coins.

There are more than 2000 coins listen on coinmarketcap and god knows how much coins were created since 10 years ago. I think almost all of them are either shitcoins or scams that will go to zero, but I also think that a few coins are innovative and have potential to do well if developers will succeed in making all their ideas a reality. However, there's also a possibility that in the future Bitcoin will absorb some innovations of alts, so even good altcoins will have a hard time.
