In my view, if someone is obsessed with Bitcoin for its positive aspects, it shouldn't pose a significant concern. However, when someone becomes obsessed with Bitcoin as an alternative means for nefarious purposes, that becomes a substantial issue. Because when one becomes fixated on something, their brain becomes more precise in making significant decisions.

I would never oppose anyone who is obsessed with Bitcoin and acts objectively. Fundamentally, Bitcoin is a digital asset that holds positive utility for all those who can harness it correctly. Someone who constantly contemplates Bitcoin in their life should ideally have the opportunity to grow alongside Bitcoin in a more meaningful way.

I believe when we are firstly introduced to Bitcoin it's normal we develop a kind of temporary obsession for it, as it happens with everything new which is introduced to us and we like very much. It can be a videogame, a TV program or Youtube channel, a food, a person you fall in love... I remember when I started dealing with BTC I got quite addicted or obsessed to it.

I couldn't stop thinking about BTC faucets and about finding new methods of collecting more satoshis. Right now, I think about those moments with a lot of nostalgia. So, I think it wasn't a bad obsession at all...
Well I didn't have that kind of obsession, but more like I was kinda curious to it even more and I find the certain topic really interesting. It's not really an obsession that would occupy my mind and keep me away from sleep. At the end of the day, Bitcoin is a software written by someone who we wouldn't even need to talk about.

I can still recall starting out with BTC faucet. I was kinda curious on if they were legitimate and at the end of the day, it was kinda exhausting to do those kinds of things unless they had some promo or like a bonus stuff that would surely make the users get hooked to it.
Talking about losing sleep, I remember there was a faucet website which was pretty complete and had different features. One of them was called "satoshi generator". It produced a determined amount of satoshis every minute, but it had a maximum storage capacity. If you didn't gather the generated satoshis before they reached maximum capacity, they stopped producing more.

And capacity was full every 4 hours or so, then I wake up from bed every 3 hours and some minutes to not lose any minute of satoshis production. Those were good times... Inevitably, the platform didn't last for too long, because rewards were really good becoming unsustainable on long term.
I feel like your case is different because you wanted to take advantage as much as you could of something that you knew sooner or later was going to end, nothing wrong with that, many other people probably would have done the same. Is it healthy? Probably in the long run, no, but for a while it's sustainable, probably I would have done the same.

According to the Britannica dictionary, obsession is a state in which someone thinks about someone or something constantly or frequently especially in a way that is not normal. While, the Oxford dictionary defines it as an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind.

I find the Oxford dictionary definition more relevant and concrete. Britannica has vague phrases such as 'not normal'. Normal is not something common for everybody, it differs from case to case. People have variable frames of what can be considered as normal. Nevertheless, I don't think that obsession has something to do with crypto, ti be honest. Those who have succeed in this field have to be rather rational and focused, but not obsessed, because obsessive state makes a person anxious and suspicious, and this implies tiredness. While being effective requires clear mind an emotional strength, and you cannot be in such shape if you feel obsessed.
But I differ to that by saying it does a lot have much to do with people's interest with bitcoin. What drives bitcoiners interest to want to learn more and more about things and concept's relating to bitcoin is induced by a bit of an obsession in them about bitcoin. Obsession is all about wanting to know more, do more, the only time an obsession is bad is when it's taking beyond logical reasoning towards that which the obsession is directed to, but when done within the controlled parameters it does produce positive outcome. Obsession is dangerous only when moderation isn't applied.

Obsession, by definition, is already contrary to moderation. It is impossible to be moderately obsessed. What you are describing is more like an aspiration, a focus, but not an obsession. Obsession knows no limits, and its danger is that a person loses interest in other things, fixating solely on the subject of obsession.
Contrary by definition to moderation you mean "not normal", but that's a narrow definition you hold of obsession in this regard, maybe as it suits the topic of discuss.

If we're to look deep into obsession it's an ambiguous word, meaning it's associated with multiple meanings such as attraction, fascination, fancy, enthusiasm etc.

if a bitcoiner is said to have any of these aforementioned does it make them abnormal ? Or are those words contrary to moderation that somebody can't be moderately enthusiast or fascinated about bitcoin?   So from my very point of view I don't see how obsession can't be moderated.

I think people's obsession in bitcoin investment is mostly about the profit, recently I rarely see people talk about how to make bitcoin legally used for purchasing goods. people always talk about profit. it is risky for newbie, if they only obsess with profit and don't learn many things that related to bitcoin then they maybe panic when bearish market trend come. I think it is important to always tell them that DCA is the best thing to do for them now.
Well, the main reason why people get easily addicted is because of money and profitability. Same with gambling, people won’t be attached to it if not they are motivated to make money. However, with bitcoin, it’s a different scenario. I don’t think people may become obsessed with bitcoin because as far as I know, a lot of people lose huge amount from bitcoin especially those who invest without prior knowledge, and only few have been noted that are making big in bitcoin.

I agree that profit is the reason why people can easily get obsessed with bitcoin but I don't see much people being so addicted with bitcoin because it will only take people who are financially stable to be able to be addicted to bitcoin because they have regular flow of money but it is easy for so many people to be obsessed but not addicted to bitcoin. And for further details, people can be obsessed with bitcoin even when they are not Investors, they think about bitcoin like nothing else and they read the news to be updated but yet has no investment because of lack of funds but no one will be addicted to any thing when they are not directly involved in the thing, obsession is far better than addiction like most of us who are directly and indirectly involved in bitcoin investment are obsessed with bitcoin already because it has become a routine to some who can't stay without looking out their investment so go as far as finding out if there are need to invest more regardless of the price.

I think bitcoin obsession is not bad as long as we continue to benefit from investing in btc, I think most people become obsessed (addicted or like) with bitcoin because they have experienced the benefits that can be obtained from investing in btc. sometimes at first our become obsessed with btc because our see other people who are lucky because they invest in btc. until finally learning about btc and successfully investing in btc and getting profits and finally becoming obsessed with btc.

There are some people who have a constant flow of money; either they are working and receiving a huge salary or they are doing business and making steadily increasing profits. Such a person can have a huge amount of money because their income is very steady and consistent, and if such a person is obsessed with Bitcoin, they can put any amount of money into Bitcoin at any time they want to invest as long as the money will not affect their budgets because before any of their personal needs arise, they have already made money to solve their need. By so doing, they will not need to sell their Bitcoin investment so quickly any time they have pressing needs, but for some people who are only earning a small amount of money from their job or business, if they decide to invest in Bitcoin more than their budget, they will still end up regretting their actions, and in some cases, they can sell some of those Bitcoin in order to solve their needs. It's just like gambling: if you don't plan your budget, you might end up spending all the money you had on gambling, and after that, you will begin to regret your actions. If you want to invest in Bitcoin, invest wisely in relation to your budget.

I think the bad thing about obsession is that we put aside our common sense so that we have high expectations so that we have high shadows too, and it will be dangerous if in the end it does not match the reality so that it will become a psychological burden that can damage ourselves, obsessed with something like bitcoin is fine, as long as we also want to learn to deepen knowledge about bitcoin so we can think realistically

Pretty hard to talk about this knowing that there are various degrees of both obsession and addiction. It's not binary — it's a spectrum; just like how two money-obsessed persons have different degrees of obsession.

Seriously,  it's really hard to talk about obsession as obsession could take different form or levels in an individual.  The level or degree of obsession in someone is based on how individuals tries to handle or manage it

Well, it depends. Is it really an obsession or fascination? Is it a bad obsession or not? Personally, I view obsession to be bad when someone is willing to give up everything they have and do everything just to have it. For example, there are people who love Bitcoin so much that they quit their jobs and get rid of their other investments to focus all of their time on Bitcoin, and when they are losing so much of their money they will even go as far as selling their properties and even loaning. I see this type of obsession as bad because it is causing tenfolds of negative effects on that person and they cannot even see and comprehend that as they are solely focused on their love for Bitcoin. On the other hand, a good obsession can be loving Bitcoin so much that they push themselves to be really good at handling Bitcoin and making their Bitcoin investment grow, they also surround themselves with people who are into Bitcoin and share knowledge and tips about it without sacrificing their job and another source of income with the mindset that if they have more source of income they will can use it to let their Bitcoin investment grow.

This is just of course my personal take on this. I am sure interested to know what others view it as.

I don't think I have met anyone who is obsessed to Bitcoin, some enthusiast sure, I know a lot of them, but they still have other hobbies, or other things that they like to talk about. For me being obsessed to Bitcoin, meaning that that person will only talked about bitcoin everyday, and that's kinda annoying, I wouldn't want to meet with such people.
I mean I like Bitcoin I like learning about it, but not like I always talk about it all day long.

If we may also consider it this way that indirectly almost everyone of us is being obsessed by bitcoin, why i say so is because we all make use of bitcoin related activities such as performing transactions and other things they do daily that includes the use of bitcoin, which means if you're for instance a bitcoin trader, there's no how you could do in a day without coming across bitcoin or anything that has to do with it everyday, this is an obsession on it own but not addiction.

The obsession depends on the person's mind.
And if the obsession is too much, then it is wrong, because excessive obsession is like infatuation or addiction and the person's mind is too focused on the one thing that is obsessed.
And excessive obsession with Bitcoin is very wrong, because all you can think about is big profits or wanting to get rich quickly from Bitcoin, and that is not recommended. Because if it doesn't match expectations, it will make him very disappointed and even hate him, besides that, excessive obsession can make people get out of control. Such as buying Bitcoin using important or necessary money, and always checking Bitcoin movements at all times and becoming emotional when Bitcoin prices tend to fall, and so on.

And if the obsession is not excessive. This can generate greater motivation and make us achieve something we have never achieved before, but of course it must be accompanied by strong self-control so that we know when to put the brakes on this obsession. So that we are not too disappointed if it is not as expected, and if it is related to Bticoin.
Maybe the person is doing it casually, like buying it with extra money or with what they can afford to lose, and also not watching the movement of Bitcoin very often. And I think it tends to happen more often to those who run a long-term method or strategy in their own way, and have good knowledge and learn from mistakes from experience. And if all my opinion is wrong, I hope someone corrects it, because it is my opinion and spontaneous. Grin

I think not everything can be equated with obsession, if a person is trying his best and we call it obsession. Whatever business or work we do, we try to do it well. In work or business, most people try to work harder to earn More profit, and grow your business. Maybe that's why he's working hard and we're feeling this obsession .

Similarly, Bitcoin is also an investment where the harder you work, the more and better returns you will get. Obsession is wrong if it is too much but we should also look at what he is obsessed with. Bitcoin is not a shortcut way to get rich, but it is not meant to be ignorant of Bitcoin information, its price, analysis and market drops on a daily basis. If one wants to invest in Bitcoin, he has to watch the fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin on a daily basis, because whenever the market falls, the price of Bitcoin will be lower and you will get a chance to buy at a good price and get good profit for the future. So I think it can't be called obsession but it is our hard work and best strategy for future.

With obsession when it's gambling we give a strong NO with our reasons attached cause obsession is just another form of addiction. So lets talk about obsession (addiction) to bitcoin. I felt in a way it might help bitcoin enthusiasts like myself and others to knows  and understand in clear terms if bitcoin obsession is bad(wrong) or not.

Obsession is like an excessive craving or yearning for something. I can only of something which can be called as Bitcoin obsession is when someone actually quit what he had been doing to earn or create money because of bitcoin. I have heard some people around here about quitting their jobs to focus on bitcoin or crypto trading or anything involving bitcoin. There was even a story about someone who immediately resigned after earning 10x of his salary from the P2E games.
Obsessions may give you negative outcome more than a positive one, simply because everything in excess is not good.
Could be applicable with bitcoin too.

Even though your explanation is too convoluted, there is a gist that I can understand about this. It is in seeing other people who benefit through Bitcoin investment, so that it can be an encouragement for us to like Bitcoin and try to continue to be obsessed with Bitcoin. And finally we also want to try investing in Bitcoin with all the abilities we have now, but apart from the obsession that is born it is based on the profits obtained by other people. Over time, we must also have another obsession to continue to study things related to Bitcoin so that our power to like Bitcoin can be even greater in the future.

Yes, seeing other people succeed in investing in BTC can indeed be an encouragement for us so that we too must be able to gain profits from investing in BTC and we must even be able to gain more profits than other people. and usually when you get a profit then I think we will become more obsessed. but in this case it is certainly not wrong if we are obsessed with BTC as long as we continue to get profits from investing in BTC, and with our obsession with BTC we will also be more active in studying knowledge about BTC.

Thinking about possible big profits is already a way for people to think about bitcoin. We can also read up some success stories about people getting rich on their investment that's why some other people think about they can easily do the same and think about bitcoin on whatever they do. Losing maybe part of the process but for sure if they are consistent reading some helpful information for sure their obsession to bitcoin will result good output to them.

That's actually good if they are aiming for profits since they have a goal, maybe those "Bitcoin obsessed" is applicable for those people who would literally sacrifice everything just to invest or hodl Bitcoin for their own good. Like their health since they are all day reading information as well checking the market, analysis which affects their healthy lifestyle. And if you've been here in the forum for sure you have read that some would literally take a loan or sell their property just to invest for BTC which I think it's not good, I always side in the term "invest what you afford to lose" cause it will just worsen your situation when your plan did not work out cause Bitcoin is still volatile which is unpredictable.
