People love gold because of its looks, its shine and heavy. On the other hand, Bitcoin is purely utilitarian in this respect, though some perverts may still distinguish it from other cryptocoins for some of its quirks and peculiarities. But the same can be equally said in regard to any other coin out there. Further, there is no innate trust in Bitcoin, so if Bitcoin becomes toxic (e.g. due to chain split), people will lose this trust instantly and get rid of it as soon as possible.
