Am I the only one who thinks there are too many "bitcoin pizza day" topics?
Hello Fellow Pizza and Bitcoin Lovers!
Today is 22nd May 2020 and the current value of the 10k BTC is $91 Million and change! Was it ever discovered who made the deal here? Looking a the old thread, the user "BitcoinFX" would look like the guy who accepted the 10k BTC.
As i say its 2020, still not many places to spend $BTC, Bitcoin going through its longest Bear Market ever after reaching near $20k USD per BTC back in December 2017.
One thing is for sure, i hope you all join me in enjoying some very tasty Pizza today!

CBS seems to think so. They are featuring a discussion about bitcoin this weekend on their weekly news show 60 Minutes. Anderson Cooper interviewed Laszlo Hanyecz for the episode, and asked him about his request to purchase pizza with bitcoin back in May, 2010. Nine years later that's looking like a really really expensive pizza.
The show is scheduled to air this Sunday.

Such a funny story, which really was the beginning of something new. Now for the money you could buy a huge number of pizzas. I think that this guy now regrets that he spent so many bitcoins.

i am 100% btc. the issue is YOU cannot separate btc from core. literally and figuratively
so when i say i hate CORE. your mind knowing core own btc. thinks i mean i hate btc
i want BTC to be a digital payment system and asset currency. as described in the white paper and as designed in code for the many initial years
it seems you want LN to be the currency(msats as pegged token) and btc to be the fortknox reserve
but LN wont work out so you just want BTC to be a reserve and fiat to be the currency

On bitcoin pizza day, there's was some cryptocurrency service as upbit and many more who celebrate it with a giveaway, in upbit one you can get a pizza voucher that I believe who you can redeem later.

Whenever I eat a pizza I always think about this. Right now the fees are too high and unstable. Eth would be a better bet for buying pizza and smaller things but I bought something the other day and kept running out of gas so I ended up paying $1 for a $30 transaction. It cannot be avoided yet. I don't fully understand how it all works or why exactly the rise in price excites everyone to make transactions all over the place or why that effects the fees so much.
Before the introduction of SEPA payments I sometimes ended paying 17$ in commission for 10$ transaction between two different banks within my own country.
Everyone is talking about the value of those bitcoins now and that's the most irelevant thing you can talk about. That person paid the price of a pizza in that moment and there I no way he could knew what is going to happen with his bitcoin in the future(now). Same as the price went up it could have gone down and his bitcoin would worth nothing now so he would have regretted his decision of not buying pizza.

No, Bitcoin is not "superior" to purchase "any goods imaginable". The most efficient way to pay for most goods is simply by fiat, in electronic form like credit/debit cards, or its physical form in the form of cash.

That was historical and unforgettable. I'm sure that no one would buy a single box if pizza if the price is 1 btc. Everything really happens for a purpose. It's unexpected that the price could rise this far when it was just requested to switch for a pizza before.
There are two things which makes the 22 May, the bitcoin pizza day a memorable one. First it is recognized as the first payment in bitcoin for sale of things, pizza in this case. Secondly that person spend too much bitcoin on a single pizza , he must to regretting to spend such big amount as he would have never ever thought bitcoin can reach 19K. (All time high of bitcoin)

Respect to Laszlo Hanyecz as he made the first purchase with bitcoin and then the market exploded and started having valuation, not sure how much purchases he did as he appreciated many people for sending the Pizza. Glad to see that there is a documentary regarding that and it is quite interesting to see how things changed so quickly.Quote

According to Anderson Cooper he would have $800 million if he had not spent any of the bitcoin on pizza. The conversion rate they used during filming was BTC1 = $8,000, so that's a total of BTC100,000 that Laszlo has spent. I hope he held on to a few, and enjoyed the pumps that might never have happened if he hadn't placed the pizza order.
