This is a legitimate big day.  Bitcoin's only real non-artificial holiday, aside from the date of the Genesis Block.

I am going to order pizza through pizzaforcoins.  I hope they're ready for the traffic.

And the publication of the protocol? (Nov. 1, 2008)

And the first transaction on the network? (Jan. 12, 2009)

Satoshi Nakamoto's last merciful contact with human beings? (Dec. 12, 2010)

I celebrate Dec 12th as Satoshi Nakamoto day!

Happy Bitcoin Pizza day!

Thought I'd try pizzaforcoins:

http://pizzaforcoins.com/united-states

Ew.  All those are bad options.

I guess I'll have to use fiat to buy BTCizza (pronounced "bee-tee-ceet-za").  More to come soon!

Obviously less significant, but more tangible, this day is a day people can do something to participate and waste their money like Easter, Valentines Day and Christmas (or Peperro day if you're in Korea). A "Protocol birthday" would be like "President's Day" or "Columbus Day" in that no one really knows what to do.
