~Yes, it is preferable to play on sites that do not utilize real money and to acquaint oneself with the gameplay and mechanics of poker before participating. It's the ideal way to prepare for reality; in fact, games like this are an escape from reality; you can play better or worse without worrying about anything. It's unwise to risk anything without knowing what's going on, so use an app like this to re-acquaint yourself with everything, including bluffing to win the game.

That's what I think too, but I prefer the reality to simulations. Zynga Poker, as @Fortify said above, "it is some basic level practice", with which I totally agree. But if you want to play real poker, don't hang out there for too long. If you don't want to risk real money while being inexperienced, you can do it using free rolls. I myself played thousands of tournaments with prize pools ranging from $0.10 to $10. Yeah, sometimes you win only $0.02 when after 2+ hours playing you finish ITM, but that's real money. Poker without them isn't real poker, imo.
Yes, fundamental level practice is necessary, and I agree since people there are just having fun; there is sometimes no seriousness, and people just act without thinking. But, yes, I mentioned it so that people are reminded of how things work in poker before playing IRL poker for money. Alternatively, if there are poker rooms with low stakes, you might spend your time there before moving on to the higher stakes rooms to build or recover your poker knowledge and mechanics.

Betwrong do you play poker these days? Where? I am like on some break from poker, I can't find an attractive place...

I'm kinda on a break too, because I play once in two weeks, or even more rarely, but one $10-$15 buy-in tournament per week is in my plans for the nearest future. SwCpoker is the place.

It would be nice if we have a regular poker tournament for bitcointalk members, but for sure there should be a sponsor from a specific bitcoin poker site like the one held by betnomi some time ago. I did not participate unfortunately due to timezone difference that makes the starting time not really friendly to me.

~

I played many freerolls as well, with higher upper range, and I think it's not the "real poker"! Too many people play too fast, all-ins every hand, tables changing all the time, the clock is ticking and blinds are rising too fast... I won/got in ITM many times, but I see it as pure luck to get to the last tables, only then get's to be "real poker", when 90% of players fall out!

I absolutely agree with you on that. When no real money involved, it's not real poker, so I think we can arrange poker games mentioned in this thread in this way:

1. Zynga Poker, or similar games, - no money involved at all;

2. Freerolls - no money paid for the game, but there's a prize pool, normally very small one;

3. Low buy-ins(below $10) - much better than freerolls, but similar to them sometimes;

4. $10+ buy-ins - real poker, with the exception of rare cases.

Hello
Well I checked online for the best sites apparently for poker people preferred:
CGpoker
Betonline
Coinpoker
Jazzsports
Nitrogensports
Ignitioncasino
 Source : https://cryptomaniaks.com/best-bitcoin-poker-sites

There are pros and cons of various sites and therefore you must choose the one's that you are used to and check the reviews as well. Other than that people have already listed a lot in here.

There is no shortage of poker rooms and many other games that you may be interested in.

Oh man, can't agree with your words. There is a real problem of luck good poker rooms in crypto. With minimalist design but looking good (how it was in SwC), balanced rake system, good amount of alive people on cash tables. SwC is nearly dead and some other site, like Sportsbet has awful poker rooms (because this is not their main activity).

But yeah, you should always read a ToS  Smiley
Sometimes there's a shortage due to the active players the room is already fully slot and you need wait for the slot. Not only the Swc is the supporting for this poker games there are a lot more. So why not have different options on it. Also before committing to a platform one of the most important thing is always visit the terms and conditions this helps their users how the platform works and rules.

The issue of where you play poker with your Bitcoin just check SwC poker site as they will give more than what you are looking for.

Man, SwC is a dead site now. Many people had gone even before i left. Even despite pretty good rake system, SwC was bad at marketing and new people that bought it from previous owners didn't invest in site development at all. So for now, SwC can't give you nothing except of disappointment. Sad but true.

Not completely dead, at least there are still some players who are playing regularly on the site. I'm not playing poker game anymore in this crypto gambling industry, I have to admit that it is hard for me to find good site with good traffic. I prefer to play poker in local site where I can play against local people who have the same timezone with me.

I'm planning to play some time, hopefully I get to win some although I haven't played poker in a while so it's really a challenge to play when there's stakes in line.
You might want to try downloading a poker app so you can get back in shape, poker rooms are an unforgivable place, you don't want to get caught off-guard in those games especially if it involves real money.

Poker is not quite hard to learn but of course there's money involved on it still better to have proper knowledge and understanding regarding with game itself. It's ideal too to play I'm with the different casual games in application because they are both the same way how to play. Also ideal too watching videos and taking practice. If you want to learn more deeply I guess statistics and probability are good for this game too.

There are lots of good resources that you could find on the internet these days. I was also clueless about poker before because I wasn't used to playing cards before but I got curious about it so I tried downloading android apps where I could play it for free. I also watched youtube tutorials about the strategies on it. It was confusing at first but also fun at the same time. Just have the eagerness to search and you could learn about it easily.

So far, I think one of the best bitcoin poker site is SwC. I believe I already replied to an almost similar thread before. But to give a background, SwC is a bitcoin only poker site. From the description itself, bitcoin-only means the site only accepts bitcoin as a deposit and withdrawal. Your bitcoin will be converted into chips that you can use on their website to play games. SwC is known to be a founder of the poker bitcoin only concepts because it was the very first one established. SwC has a nice rakeback and themes which make it enticing to play. You can also get your payout within 12 hours, which is not bad because the processing time of payout is pretty much considerable. However, the two things that are concerning is that it has lower traffic for a site an it has no declared license.

Agree there are ton of apps now a days that you can play it for free so that you can feel it and also be comfortable of after a few years of quitting. Thats the best thing to do first before jumping or involved with money. Also there are website that will give you credits upon creating account or a signing up bonus which you can take it as an advantage to make you feel comfortable with the website
Zynga Poker is, in my opinion, one of the best poker apps available today; I use it when I want to play poker before going to real-money poker rooms. Of course, we need to sharpen up on our poker skills and memorize all of the card combinations in order to win the game. I'm sure there are many pros in poker, especially those who know when to call or fold based on the percentages of the cards they hold. It's a great risk to play in a poker room with money involved if you don't know how the game works; it'll only lead to defeat.

Zynga is a good platform with all the features you need, it can be a good way to warm up before a real money session but the dynamics are always going to be very different with a virtual chip game. People will play a completely different game if they are not losing any real money and you'll find a lot of people who simply play bad poker - going all in repeatedly and really breaking the game play. People play much tighter and consistently when trying to boost a real bank roll. Either way, you get a feel for the cards and odds, you'll occasionally find players who play a similar game, good for refreshing your memory as you say and it is some basic level practice.

Yes, it's true. Many people in this thread suggested SwC poker. This site  has been staying in the business for a long  time, and I've never read anything negative about it. Apart from recommending the site for experienced players, I would recommend it for beginners too. There are always some no-rake low stakes cash games going there, as well as free rolls in the Tournaments section.

Yes it is SWC poker was the first online poker room that exclusively using bitcoin for deposits and withdrawals so most probably many of the member here will really recommend this site also it is a good site to visit too for beginners. In my case, aside from SWC poker I have also tried Bovada and Nitrogen Poker and these two sites are good to play with too. Bovada known as the online gambling site for a two decades also a trusted legit online gambling while Bitrogen were just started in online gambling late 2014 but still a good site to visit too but among the three SWC poker was also my most recommended.

I immadietely thought of a good gambling room when you asked that. there are some good ones but I like SwC poker the most and I think many also like this gambling room. it's the first room I know in doing gambling and I think it's pretty good. some people have suggested you a good gambling room, you can choose it. My advice is to choose one that is safe and reliable and makes it easier for us to do gambling so that we are also calm in doing it.
