It's the guys at CNBC who called it a tool for money laundering white supremacist Wink

And that is the problem BTC is a tool.

I don't understand why this is a problem?
We all know bitcoin can be used for both good and bad things, that's no secret, it makes a lot of things easier for good poeple but for scammers also, but that can be said for everything so I don't understand the "problem" part.
Every single thing in this universe can be used as a tool for both good and bad things, for gods' sake not even the cross is an exception.

The only real problem here is that bitch from CNBC who labels things based on her interests not reality.
But well, nothing new from the leftists:
https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/bitcoin-surge-was-windfall-white-supremacists-research-finds-rcna8177

There were also some breakthroughs, and ground-breaking inventions during the past that were demonized by entities in high places who didn’t want to change their current order of things. The printing press, the automobile, the light bulb, and currently Bitcoin. How long should the network keep chugging along? Cool

Fiat money itself was built to further entrench those in positions of supremacy, hard to argue anything that isn't money isn't.

But if this is a ploy to gain credibility, well, they're only wasting ad space. Might have been amusing to watch 6 years ago when this might have been a new angle but really, I haven't found misguided woke trash spewed by people who don't know any better even a bit funny when the drama all began.

It's true that there are some extremists using bitcoin to circumvent establishment payment rails, but bitcoin is designed to prevent financial censorship, especially when involving more legitimate activists. While most people find extremists repulsive, so long as they are not breaking any laws I don't see a problem with their use of bitcoin. Bitcoin is apolitical (in a general sense).

I think Tucker is misrepresenting what CNBC says. Tucker says "the crypto guys must be white supremacists", while the woman on CNBC says "crypto is an avenue for money laundering and white supremacist are taking options (apparently)".

Tucker is exaggerating what is being said. If we take the literal sense, Bitcoin is a tool like cash would be or like a knife or a shovel might be, as mentioned. Whatever Tucker says if it sounds far-fetched I'd rather look into it, as he tends to do things like this.

Are you still so easily triggered by anything that goes in the US?  Grin
Not everything, I only slightly care when someone spreads FUD, specially if it is being repeated on the internet by others. Like when the head of a banking cartel that has been involved in all kinds of fraudulent activities calls bitcoin a "fraud". I think only those who like the FUD don't get triggered by it.
Besides the fact that most of them are from US is not my fault Cheesy

Same old same old accusations that have died on their own due to lack of merit. But this new white supremacist accusation against Bitcoin is rather surprising. How the heck did they come up with such an idea? Satoshi Nakamoto itself is not known to be white or black or whatever. Surely, he/she/they know the English language well, and yet the name is Asian, Japanese in particular. There's Mayor Suarez who's probably of Hispanic Origin. There's Mayor Adams of New York who's black. There's Andrew Yang who's of Asian or Taiwanese descent. I mean, how did they associate Bitcoin with white supremacy?

The biggest reason why there are those in the left-leaning legacy media associating Bitcoin with white supremacist is because they don't know Bitcoin in the first place. We know that Bitcoin is open to anyone regardless of color, race, political conviction and yes can also be used illegally...here in Bitcoin lies real democracy away from the control freaks in the government, the oligarchs in social media where censorship has been weaponized against groups of people who have different views, those in the established financial institutions whose mistakes the people are paying for years. In the eyes of these people if there is one perceived supremacist using Bitcoin then Bitcoin has become a friend of the white supremacist itself.

bitcoin does not welcome anyone.
its code not a brain and mouth.
bitcoin cant make conversation to welcome anyone.

its simply a open network anyone can use. so because anyone can use it. you will always find different types of people using it.

fiat is unwelcoming.
you cant even get a bank account unless you are documented. banks with their "patriot act" are more like white suprematists.
banks/america does not welcome the people that the statue of liberty pretends to welcome into america

maybe the statue of liberty should change from
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore."

"Give me Your young huddled masses yearning to breathe free, so we can put them into detention camps, and then set them free back in their native country"

What development? The Bitcoin community has always welcomed white supremacists, alt-rightists, neo-Nazis, self-identified-"libertarians"-who-are-actually-just-conservatives-who-want-to-smoke-pot, and other such scum. This isn't news. The mainstream media's just a little slow on the uptake (that's not news either).
It is true, even back in June 2011 when PayPal, Visa, Mastercard and all the major payment intermediaries blocked Wikileaks from accepting funds, they started accepting BTCitcoin and from that time, we are a target for any government and the media who is supporting anyone that are blocked by the mainstream systems. It is nothing new and some are hearing about these for the first time and whenever BTCitcoin is used to overcome the restrictions, you hear the same narrative repeated again and again  Cheesy.

Why would I ever waste my time listening to what some of the most corrupt people on the planet say?

I don't know, because I got used to people commenting on things after actually researching what that thing is?
Maybe if you didn't care that much you could have refrained yourself from making that post also and wasting your "precious" time?

Are you still so easily triggered by anything that goes in the US?  Grin

Nice job getting everything wrong, it's not FOX accusing bitcoin of anything, it's the democrat side.
Whose favorite channel is Fox, as far as I've understood. I'm not in the US, though.

Insert coin, try again, Fox is the Republican propaganda machine, CNN and NBC are on the Democrat side.

Well, it started) So urgently transfer everything into neutral USDT or USDC and don’t worry. Although if it goes on like this, then all the owners of the cryptocurrency can be accused of anything, just to cling to some formal reason. This genie has left his bottle and who will drive him back? I am very sorry for those simple white hard workers who are forced to endure all this and apologize for something, although this has nothing to do with them. About the owners of bitcoins, this is generally beyond reason!

The fact that Bitcoin users were accused of white supremacy without further explanation and then added that it helps them launder money shows who's the real racist; it shows who abuses the difference for their own benefit. Also, I'll have to agree with this:
The Bitcoin community has always welcomed white supremacists, alt-rightists, neo-Nazis, self-identified-"libertarians"-who-are-actually-just-conservatives-who-want-to-smoke-pot, and other such scum.
Bitcoin doesn't take political positions. It's as neutral as it could be.

In the light of the recent Freedom Convoy which started in Canada to protest the strict mandates coming from their government and the subsequent outpouring of financial donations to the truckers which are blocked by those in the government so the money can never go to truckers and then the move to instead use Bitcoin, left-leaning media personalities are now accusing Bitcoin to be the haven of white supremacists, money launderers, drug traffickers and anything illegal they can claim of!

Here is the video from Fox News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-E3S_vEzsA

What is your own opinion on this development?
You say left-leaning media, but link a source that is a very right-wing populist one? I don't think it's fair, and Tucker, as you can probably see from other posts as well, has a certain reputation. I watched the second half, and there's a short clip from CNBC featuring one woman saying stuff about white supremacy (not even directly linking Bitcoin to white supremacy). By the way, Tucker seems to be getting worse, actually, over time. Last time I watched him about two years ago, he seemed at least lie the kind of guy some reasonable people might like. Now he's even more manipulative, more emotional.
As for the reality, of course there are white supremacists, anti-vaccination leaders, and money launderers who use Bitcoin. But there are also charities, universities, famous companies and people from all parts of the political spectrum using it. I hate it that Tucker's show basically appropriates Bitcoin, but I hope it won't change anyone's mind. Bitcoin is for everyone.

i laugh at tucker carlson.. he is the one squeaking his impotence
he is the one voicing arguments in silly voices.

he quotes tweets (written words aka no squeaks or vocal pitch) but tucker has the squeaks and vocal pitch

even funnier is that straight after the crypto section, carlson then says that media outlets put dumb people in the anchor chair..
.. (explaining how he got the job)

i found too many faults in carsons speach. alot of misleading stuff.
john hopkins did not endorse a report that said lockdowns didnt help, but carlson said they did..

carlson is just a trumpette ( a D.Trump superfan)

This is where the time of the video where they call cryptocurrencies are used by White Supremacist lol https://youtu.be/m-E3S_vEzsA?t=424

Not a fan of Tucker but things that are logical enough can be heard from him all the time.
While truckers want thier freedom, it's also not good to disable the businesses and economy that depends so much on this bridge. At the same time, these truckers are not going to be heard if they just line up somewhere expressing thier disapproval that's why they are also on that bridge.

Sorry, a bit bad wording and an incomplete thought being written down on my part
Using my shovel example nobody cares when I dig a well to help out some poor family, but use that same shovel to hit them over the head and bury them and it makes news.

That was just what I was trying to say.

this is not a development for bitcoin. the analogy shown in the news is only a bluff and makes the news as a joke.
because this is just a cheap conspiracy to corner the black race. why do you need to be scared ? wouldn't the government in this case not have the authority to interfere any further and this is a small tickle for bitcoin.

And that is the problem BTC is a tool.

I can use a shovel to dig a well to get fresh water for people in need and then to help in the fields to plant crops to feed them.

Or I can use it to beat someone over the head and then dig a grave to hide the body.

It's all how you use it.

I can use BTC to make my life better by getting out of the stranglehold of banks or I can use it to help move funds for human trafficking.

Fox News
You mean a news channel with links to US government that has been involved in misleading the public for ages and has also been involved in all kinds of illegal activities from human rights violation, sexual harassment, support of terrorism, racism, and a lot more is complaining about bitcoin? LOL
