Is it true that bitcoin is not affected by the altcoins?
nope because it's very impossible to happen for a crypto that has a massive market cap to become affected what will be the situation of altcoins..

I have just created a topic in Economics, but it is more about how bitcoin can be a bulwark against inflation and the inflation in EU.

It can be a bulwark because of some common reason why it's more worth it to store money in it rather than fiats, but the fact that more government were against in bitcoin it will still a big a question if bitcoin can really replace fiats to prevent inflation.. So good only for those country that already accept bitcoin as a legal tender.

Without altcoins there would be no competition then bitcoin would not be as prominent as it is now. We cannot compare altcoins with bitcoin but thanks to their diversity and many advanced technologies, altcoins have helped crypto develop and increasingly attract the crypto community.
In terms of value, bitcoin is not dependent on any altcoins. As we have seen, the functioning of the market depends on bitcoin. bitcoin drop all altcoins will almost fall, but altcoins drop bitcoin will not fall.

How do you know if Bitcoin to have a bigger value once there are no altcoins?
Instead, I even think Bitcoin may have no value if there are no altcoins. Why? Bitcoin needs support to have value and it needs a comparison (another coin) to say it's bigger.

Name me right now the price of BTC in ETH DOGE or ADA without looking at CMC or without doing some math taking into account prices in USD.
Nobody cares about comparisons, nearly all the shitcoins about there are just money milking machines from so-called investors who think they have missed the BTC train and are hoping they put money in some 1000% per day return scheme.

What would be the sales volume of Mcdonald's if it would be the only fast-food chain?
How many Iponhes would Apple sell if it were the only company building phones?
What would be the market capitalization of Tesla if people would only be allowed to buy Tesla shares and nothing else?

If there were only bitcoin surely the growth could've been very low than the present.

lol

For example the Ethereum upgrade Bitcoin Blockchain by implementing smart contract which lead to multiple possibilities for innovation for the whole crypto market.

There’s always a what if on this kind of topic, Bitcoin value might be more or less if Altcoins didn’t exist. There’s a possibility that Bitcoin price will much lower if Altcoin didn’t exist because the main reason why cryptocurrency market pump is because of the hype of blockchain technology through its different application on altcoins.

For example the Ethereum upgrade Bitcoin Blockchain by implementing smart contract which lead to multiple possibilities for innovation for the whole crypto market. Without smart contract and other blockchain innovations, we are still stuck on a single blockchain with tons of shitty bitcoin forks. Cryptocurrency will never be the same like this.

Bitcoin price would only be affected by alt-coins when their investor are converting to earn or save their money,
But we couldn't really answer the question about it's value if it is the only crypto,
The price could be higher than it is now since everyone who invested on crypto would focus their money on it,
But it could also be lower since there wouldn't be trades that attracted so many investors,
So if it is the only crypto I think there would be less people around here.

Value and price are different, Bitcoin value is standalone and never affected by any thing. It's decentralized and psedonymous, peer to peer exchange.

Bitcoin price doesn't affected by altcoins, this mean if altcoins price decrease Bitcoin price wouldn't decrease too. But due to so many altcoins exist, this make people confuse whether they need to buy Bitcoin or altcoins which indirectly make Bitcoin price not really high. Imagine if only 5 coins listed on any platform, those 5 coins will have higher price than the current price now.

I think the difference in value makes its position less affected by altcoins, but it is necessary to look at the problem in many different ways, what altcoins offer will show the completeness of public solutions. technology that this field addresses. That has pushed to bring the existing value to the market, and of course if it is only BTC, the price will be better, but in one respect it will still be considered as negative as in the beginning and will difficult to accept as widely used as it is now. So the problems that arise always give us the options that follow.

Bitcoin is not affected by altcoins because of the superiority that bitcoin has. But bitcoin would not be as valuable today if there were no altcoins or fiat currency pairs. Likewise with gold, if there is no partner to trade, gold will not be valuable.

Maybe bitcoin is at the top of the crypto chain and even if there are many new coin issuances, it will not affect bitcoin's position. But if there were only bitcoin in the market, it wouldn't necessarily be what it is today.

If ever there is only Bitcoin, for sure the market cap of Bitcoin now will be bigger because other people will have no choice what to buy since there is only Bitcoin. And there could be a huge possibility that the price of Bitcoin could go higher too as the market cap increase.

Overall for me, this is how cryptocurrency works, after Bitcoin was created, altcoins started too and the total crypto market cap is not only circulating on Bitcoin.

Instead, I even think Bitcoin may have no value if there are no altcoins. Why? Bitcoin needs support to have value and it needs a comparison (another coin) to say it's bigger. I strongly believe that Bitcoin can survive as well as today and can have a high value, just because of many supports from any parties, including from altcoins. I cannot imagine if we only have Bitcoin, it may have big difficulties to survive since it only struggles alone. CMIIW

Is it true that bitcoin is not affected by the altcoins? I am thinking it would have been better if only bitciin is existing as it will have more value, though bitcoin can not be compared to altcoins in many ways as it is the first and the giant.
Would really be inevitable if we do really speak about creating new coin because there would really be developers or programmers which they would tend to create something new and much better than

bitcoin and thats why we've been flooded out by lots of projects in the market and hope that they would get on the same support or community on which bitcoin does have.
We do have overall rankings between bitcoin and altcoin and its existence does have relevance on overall price of bitcoin.

I thought it was the complete opposite as altcoins tend to folow bitcoin movement and most of the market volume comes from bitcoin.

Although after the creation of Bitcoin, other currencies have been created and despite this they have not negatively affected it.
That means many see bitcoin trust as an important asset in the financial world.

If there was a chance that Bitcoin was the only cryptocurrency in the space, it would need a pair.

Before its creation there were movements with the desire to create something in cryptography, but Satoshi beat them to it.

All cryptocurrencies are open source one more reason for the birth of more projects in the Crypto space.

Bitcoin has shown under different circumstances that it can deal with inflation. We have seen testimonials from cash-strapped people around the world who have tried bitcoin and are freed.

Is it true that bitcoin is not affected by the altcoins?

bitcoin is not affected by any altcoin, but with the emergence of many altcoins they create a market where it has competitiveness and attracts more investors, so altcoins are also responsible for the growth of this cryptocurrency market. I'm not someone who invests in new altcoins and I'm also in favor of freedom of choice, I don't think there should only be bitcoin, that wouldn't be good, the way the market is in my opinion is very good
If there were only bitcoin surely the growth could've been very low than the present. As said when there is competence, automatically there'll be growth. Bitcoin came into existence as an alternate to traditional fiat. More and more features addition lead to the existence of more and more altcoins. The market is in good shape with the combined move of bitcoin and altcoins.

Competition is what makes bitcoin stand out among the rest.
If only bitcoin exists up until this day, you may be right, the growth may be slow.
The existence of other alts is significant on recognizing the role of bitcoin in the market.
Without them, you may not appreciate what bitcoin is. With the comparison, you can distinguish the difference between btc and other alts.

For sure it's affected, especially when t see how many altcoins in the market. However i think the existance of those alts is necessary and a logic result for the technology.
From another side, i don't see reasons to discuss such a fact. The technology behind bitcoin can give birth to thousands of similar pojects and this was expected from the biggening.

This is a simple man. In this world, there is nothing that has no alternative. Creating something new might take time, but creating its alternative didn't take any time. Just think if the world had only one car company, one mobile company, or anything like that. You say that there was only one company, but you definitely can't think about its price. So alternatives are a part of everything. Now apply the same rules to bitcoin: if no other alternative coin exists, what is the total market cap value? You noticed $2T. It will be the total market volume of Bitcoin. Then it might be possible for bitcoin to double in price. Well, it's just a guess. But we can do anything; everything, like bitcoin, should have an alternative. But it is really tough to get trust like Bitcoin.

Well, it's an argument that you'll see valid points from the affection of bitcoin with the altcoins market. But the one thing that is for sure is that, bitcoin is affecting the altcoins market.

No matter what hype is being made with the altcoins.

There's no denying that it's always affecting the whole altcoins market. Time will come that there will be lesser altcoins and majority of the investors will stay on bitcoin.

Talking about the value of Bitcoin, it certainly cannot be compared to any altcoin currently available. In fact, the strength of Bitcoin's value is built on the self-awareness of its holders who have placed great faith in Bitcoin even without the need for thousands of altcoins. If it is said to be an asset that has unique characteristics that can save from inflation, it also depends on how deep the inflation is. After all, fiat can't match what Bitcoin has been doing for the nearly 13 years since its inception.
