It's typically how people perceive things that they have less knowledge about. Once they understand why it was made for and what it could bring to society, it's worth to have Bitcoin, for sure. Just like what happened in that TV show, the lack of understanding or the view with what currencies are is the reason why people take Bitcoin negatively at first. I think educating people would be the best idea for inviting people to become enthusiasts as well.

You are absolutely right here.
Because all of us started from newbies with hesitations at first.
I don't think we all started liking bitcoin or crypto at the very first time we heard it.
For sure, most of us had hesitation how it works, or does it really work or any of that sort.
Education is the key to address the ignorance of most noncrypto users who up until now have negative perception on crypto.
And in this regard, I believe media can help us on this endeavour. If only there is a specific segment or program, discussing all about crypto.
Most of the TV shows are only partly mentioning about crypto or bitcoin, but no in depth discussion is presented.

Well, if you look at it that way, you might as well say that the Gold is not backed by anything. Lol, seriously, let's imagine that we are still making use of gold by now, what exactly is it backed by and what's the worth?

If not what we say it is? As for the US dollar and fiat in general, they used to be backed by gold and silver, but now they are mostly being backed by debt. Then as for Bitcoin, a lot of things have been said about what's really backing Bitcoin; some have said that Bitcoin is backed by scarcity and utility, and a lot has been said. But according to the FAQ on Bitcoin.org which is the official Bitcoin site, Bitcoin is backed by mathematics and all that is required for it to have value is trust and adoption.

In addition to that, here[1] our some of other Bitcoin scene in television shows.

First one was aired on January 2012 when bitcoin worth $33. Damnnnn!

[1] https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_references_in_TV_Shows

Wow. It was really do fascinating that even before have soar high, it has already been publicized through television way back 2012 wherein it's price is too far away beyond from the current price it have right now. Who would have thought that as time passes by, Bitcoin started its price as base of $33 would grow into thousand of dollars at this time. It is just awesome that even before the popularity it have right now, it has already been known to televisions. Well, exposing or mentioning Bitcoin at show like Billions will be a good thing to let more people know about Bitcoin's existence because even if it has already been well-known, still lots of people certainly do not know about it. Publicizing Bitcoin through television is a good thing to popularize it so that many people will consider getting into it.

Chuck Rhoades : "For what, so your multitude of computers and servers could solve some abstract math equations resulting in the mining of Bitcoin. Worth millions right now, whoopee, but backed by what? Nada, nix, zot"

the Bitcoiner : "What's a dollar backed by, since we went off the gold standard?"

Boom!

Considering the rating and the viewers who are reached by this tv show, Bitcoin expand its popularity and let people know that is is definitely not a scam. It would benefit the crypto industry once again and people will take their curiosity here. More users, more hope that Bitcoin could be accepted by the society.

Bitcoin is a part of the pop culture.Mentioning BTC in TV shows, movies, songs, social media has become pretty common.Don't be surprised if BTC gets mentioned more often on TV.We shouldn't celebrate every time, when that happens
Anyway, the oldschool mentality of some people is hilarious.Money has to always be backed to gold,in order to have value.Well, should gold be backed by something,in order to have value? The gold value is backed by supply, demand and production costs. The Bitcoin value is backed by supply/demand and production costs as well.
Fiat money are backed by supply, demand and government promises. Grin

Nothing gives me joy than hearing people talking about bitcoin on air. It's a fantastic experience of seeing it happened. I would love to see what happens after. When the bitcoin price skyrocket after the halving. By then, there will be much discussing topic and trending highlights on the internet about bitcoin and other altcoin

Burned! Bitcoin isn't only backed by a dollar but backed with value. Ther are some bitcoin enthusiasts that sell bitcoin in exchange for a real estate asset. So if a person doesn't value bitcoin, it is not reasonable for them to think about bitcoin being worthless because nothing backed it. Maybe they aren't technologically inclined to updates about security and what the backbone of bitcoin is.

Though this isn't the issue about OP, I like the way the bitcoiner burned the statement of the interviewer, it is one form of inviting people into bitcoin thus, a way to increase bitcoin adoption.

Don't be naive to think billionaires who never speak of bitcoin in the public are not secretly investing in bitcoin. Currently, I have a multimillionaire in my country who sneaks to my office and house, and we occasionally meet at a joint to lecture him about bitcoin and help him buy for the future. He doesn't want his friends to know what he's into neither does he tweet or post about bitcoin.

It isn't the first time that a TV show has talked about bitcoin. I remember seeing many other shows that briefly speaks about bitcoin but mostly in sarcastic way. If I recall correctly, there was one whole episode about bitcoin on the big bang theory (oh I miss TBBT!) and then there was silicon valley tv show. The company piped piper runs their own ICO and creates piped piper coin! Check this out - Hooli and Pied Piper!

Billions is one of the TV series that has a good rating. This means that many watch this series. When bitcoin is mentioned in one conversation, people who already know Bitcoin will surely be enthusiastic and smile proudly: "I've used it", while those who don't know BTC will definitely be curious and try to find out. Especially for fans of one of the characters in this series, will definitely be more enthusiastic to follow what his idols do. Hmm ... effective enough to attract public attention. The same is true when BTC is mentioned in one episode of The Simpsons.

Television media is very good for promoting bitcoin, I really hope that in the future bitcoin can often appear on television shows.
This is very important for the development of bitcoin, a very good example in my opinion bitcoin is mentioned in the tv show billions.
Moreover, the billions tv show a pretty good rating, which has a very large audience. This is one of the golden opportunities for bitcoin
to be famous. Hopefully this tv show billions can make bitcoin more popular and be able to attract new investors to invest in bitcoin.

Soon bitcoins will be included in television advertisements as people even businesses are starting to adopt this as a way of payment then businesses can advertise it for a mode of payment to show easy transactions to their business.
I think you are over-estimating the effect here in my opinion. Firstly, billions is not the most popular show in the world(Never heard of it before) which is why it probably would influence a small portion of the population.

BTC has been discussed in far more popular shows and movies in the past and that had negligible impact basically.

Shows and movies do help promote crypto in a small way. People need to actually use BTC on a day to day basis for it to achieve mainstream popularity.
Its good to be optimistic but lets go to the realistic thing and we all know that everything would takes time for it to be recognized or adopted but there are people who do really have that much positive outlook into things
which is unlikely to happen because all will vary on the demand.Exposure in TV is good but it will depend on the scope or numbers of people who do able to watch that but doesnt signify that they would definitely switch up.
Of course, everything would needed experience for them to know on whats bitcoin is all about. Most of the time if those people who do able to watch it out and doesnt even know the basics then they will surely
ignore it unless if it do sparks out their interest and curiosity.

We are propagating into social media, the new's line, and the forum itself. Well, we are happy to think that awareness had spread across and surely it catches more attention especially when we hit another ATH just like what it did last 2017 Bullrun. As we go through television, the more it helps the adoption development. If they could appreciate it, then it is possible that they will come to us. But much appreciate if someone could show his/her total crypto holdings on the TV in order to stop the doubts.

That's definitely some change right there on mainstream television. Usually they depict bitcoin as something sinister and dark that using it will taint your soul. It's a good refresher that a TV show talking about basically money has somewhat praised bitcoin--or given it a new light--in front of potentially millions of audiences. That scene would surely ignite some curious minds to search the web for answers on what backs USD after the gold standard was released by Nixon for good.
I am fond of movies especially when it is really a good one, but here is one thing that I noticed in a movie when they are including bitcoin or some kind of cryptography. It always depict the bad, every time I see bitcoin in a movie it is always used in some kind of criminal actions like buying illegal stuffs on deep web, form of terrorist ransom and the worst I've seen is that it is even used to scam people which will probably impact to people's mind that bitcoin is made for it.  Embarrassed

Mentioned on TV should be the most important thing to me.right now than the said question raised by the anchor of that show. They are always in attack when it come to Bitcoin as the currency of the people, we're okay with this online money which is not backed by anything. Hope their shit papers are backed by something which is of great importance to mankind? The same papers money are now  be printed on daily basis, still yet the lingering instability of the government economy. Hope they wake up from their slumber before the economy fall on them.

Well, that already shows acceptance and promotion of bitcoins to the public. It only signifies that little by little people are starting to embrace the crypto world and they begin to realize that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will be the future for any form of transaction and trading. When bitcoin is mentioned or entered into a conversation script about bitcoin it will certainly give a good stimulus and provide an explanation to the audience.

When Chuck Rhoades asked about bitcoin backed by

The question was refuted by the question "What's a dollar backed by"

if you have to answer about Bitcoin backed by anyone, the answer is like this:
Bitcoin is backed by a protocol that is based on fair and decentralized concessions. backed by the most powerful supercomputer network in the world.

Bitcoin is getting more exposure in the mainstream and as expected, there will be more of it soon. Although, I haven't heard of the show but as long as it's getting an airtime and even for a split seconds, it's already a contribution to bitcoin.
I think these shows, movies and other talks by popular hosts and celebrities can get a better way to attract viewers by just even including bitcoin on their topic.
