It is the other way around "China needs bitcoin" or I say "Bitcoin is better without China".. Bitcoin doesn't need any support from government to survive,, it is developed to be decentralized  and out of any government contol and policy.. If they want to regulate bitcoin in the first place they should have announced it and not downplay for being rumors.. They've planned for bitcoin price down but those days won't last.. Bitcoin recovers.. Again..

It's really not that simple, since having exchanges around is always a good thing as more people are able to access bitcoin easily. With a bitcoin-friendly government it is probably a lot easier to spread the idea of bitcoin than with a bitcoin hostile government. This goes without saying ofc.

However as you said, bitcoin can indeed survive without China.

People will still trade in China, and still buy bitcoins. Tehy'll just do it another way. It's not like China is gone forever.

I don't know how they're government react when one of they're citizens will not follow them because I'm not aware of how they implement such policy.. But if it is forbidden to do so,, I will stop and never do that and wait for the change of heart of my government officials.. China might not be gone forever but I will not change my idea of a much better bitcoin community without them..
China not is a strong country can control the price of Bitcoin in this year, if the Chinese government really want to give up Bitcoin, United States or Russia or Japan will replace China earn profit from this field. But China not stupid to give up Bitcoin, after all only the FUD created by them.

I agree to that mate.. Even japan alone can handle those investments because they have legalized bitcoin in that country.. China is just making noises to gain some attention.. Like a child play and china doesn’t really mature of how they think... It was not meant to regulate they want to own and be the center of the Blockchain technology and of the bitcoin community that is obviously impossible..

China affects BTC a lot!

All giant mining farms are located in China and if all of a sudden all of them would stop at same moment it will affect BTC and transactions

Bitcoin is getting back to track and now once again Bitcoin is $4000+, it clearly shows that Bitcoin can survive and grow without China. China indeed is a big market and ban on ICO created a state of panic among people, due to which Bitcoin saw a dip in price which further was seen as an opportunity for young buyers to invest in Bitcoin. But all these recent activities, clearly shows that all such news and rumors have temporary effect on Bitcoin and in the later stages it get back on track.

it could have been more than $5k by now if china are still with us.  bitcoin was like in the fast lane when they are around. if all of its neighboring countries declares the same thing, some of us that were from forex might just be going back there again. korea already is banning ICOs.

But that's the thing about crypto volatility. It reacts on every move.

My experience: when there are facts involved, exchange rate drops very fast, but climbs fast again.
When there are rumours involved (like in this case: partial facts, but also many rumours) rate drops for longer period of time before climbing up again.

Even without them, the price is rising and getting back to normal. That simply means nothing change and we would have the same future as before. It's just the time on reaching it have change, it has been adjusted because we loss a big player. We could have achieved it earlier but it's fine.
Yeah, the price of Bitcoin has recoverd to $4,400 today, it proves Bitcoin still strongly while the Chinese government give up and bans exchange cryptocurrency and ICO. After dump price on the market of Bitcoin in past week, we know all things are only the FUDs of rich man and the government.
I think all bitcoin users can already see that, indeed when the government makes a statement that they will close all the bitcoin exchangers in china but in just a few days prices can recover, it shows that bitcoin is still a promising investment despite having lost one big investor .

bitcoin users not only in china alone, worldwide users very much. so without chinese bitcoin can still walk, even though China has banned transactions in the country, but from all over the world its users still exist, not depend on china.

Though bitcoin is independent but chinese market has great importance so banning of bitcoin in china would have influence on the price of bitcoin. But for a short period of time!!

We should stop thinking that if China is gone then btc will worsen or might be dead sooner. I don't remember that China started the cryptocurrency so let's  just move on and continue.

yes that can also be the truth, but i think that even if China give up gambling still bitcoin will not lose its image and will surely continue as number one online currency, because bitcoin is a universal an decentralize currency and therefore it is not depending on a single country, therefore we can expect that China banning banning bitcoin will not effect bitcoin so much. it will surely effect bitcoin temporarily and hopefully bitcoin will very soon cover its position.

I believe the news leaks of the Chinese government's ban on Bitcoin trading and perhaps also Bitcoin mining are not FUD anymore. We have seen BTCC and ViaBTC releasing announcements that they will terminate their exchanges by the end of this month. The rest doubtlessly will also follow.
They stopped operating now and it's look like the price is still pumping after their shutdown.

What will happen to "a Bitcoin" without China?

Not really bitcoin without China as far as I know mining operations there are still ongoing and there are Chinese that still has bitcoin on their stash and still pursuing trades.

Do we really need them to reach new highs?
They are a big help but no one knows, I guess yes.
