It's working just as intended. I love it! I've been looking for something like this for so long, some apps are just too hard to get to, like coindesk.

Maybe you should have an editable chart, which you can zoom in and out of and pan along the timeline?

Whew, glad it's working for someone! Did it seem intuitive for you w/o the directions I just posted?

I haven't seen this specific functionality anywhere else (including Coindesk), which is why I wanted to make this. It may exist, but I have yet to see it myself.

I like all the suggestions I'm hearing! But as I'm not a developer, I have to pay someone to do the real work here, so I'm not sure how much I'll be developing this. I'm mostly interested in it being functional and easy to use. For now, I think my goal is to simply have most people reporting the site works for them as intended!

Oh, and for anyone who hasn't been able to get it to work, here's what it should look like when it is working! Just fill in the BTC amount and date in the 3 2-digit fields, and the USD value should display as soon as all 3 fields have valid numbers.

Wow, so many reports it's not working, yet it continues to work for me on every major web browser I try (including iPad). I'm starting to wonder if using the site is so unintuitive that it seems broken...

Do I need to add these instructions?
Type in any number for Bitcoin Amount, and valid two-digit entries for the three date fields, a USD value should appear immediately after you finish filling the last field.

I like it. It's simple.
Maybe a calendar with option to search a date (one click -done) would be good tho.
Keep it up!

It is not working for me. I have no idea if this is because I tried specific date which is simply bugged. Or it is simply broken on my end(?)
Anyway I tried to know price from 12-12-2012 and price in USD is not showing.

Yeah it's not work for me too, I have entries the columns but nothing happens with the USD value. Actually it's will convert automatically or need a push button to convert?
yeah me too i thought it just me or my connection was bad, well it doesn't work either in chrome or firefox
but it seems like it will convert automatically, i just entered the amount of bitcoin and the date, since there is no push button or something to proccess it, right?

Are you the developer behind it ? Seems interesting enough.I don't see how it calculates the price of a transaction in dollars though,In fact,it just doesn't work.I have tried several bug fixes.Major bug fixes needs to be done.It would be great if it can fetch all the details from the transactions and show the price on that particular time/day accordingly.

Thanks for your response. Sorry to be so slow to reply, I'm not on BitcoinTalk much nowadays. I am not the developer behind it, but it is my site. I asked a developer I know if he could build something like this for me, and he put this together very quickly (like, he built the basics in a few minutes). Then, after having the site up for a bit, the original feed stopped working. We switched to using an API from CoinDesk, which I think only provides daily prices. So I think we'd need to use a different price feed to get precise times.

Unsure why it doesn't work for everybody/always. I wonder if something behind the scenes is down from time-to-time, because it works for me on every device I try it on, though there are rare occasions it doesn't.

Ever wonder what the USD value of a past Bitcoin transaction was? Sure, you can look up the price in a chart or graph, which takes a little time, then multiply the price by the number of Bitcoins. I never found a quicker way to do this, so I present http://BitcoinHistoricPrice.com, a quick and easy way to see the USD value of a past Bitcoin transaction. Or if you want to check a past Bitcoin price, just put in 1 bitcoin. I find this tool much handier that the other ways I've found to look up a past price. Note this tool is just looking up the daily price, so on some crazy volatile days, the spot price might have been very different.

Anyone else find this useful or have suggestions? Has anyone seen similar tools out in the wild?

Thanks for trying it out and giving feedback!

not working for me.  doesnt show the result    using google chrome
it is not working on my side
after enter the date and bitcoin amount it still not give usd value
Even i enter todays date is not give usd value
I've never experienced a standard full-function browser not work with this page, but it seems like there are occasional backend issues. And sometimes there's operator error (which could be seen as a UI/UX issue), like not putting in two digits for each date field or putting in a date that's out of range. I haven't had a problem with it not working for awhile, but then again, I'm not checking it super-regularly. Tried it when I posted, and just tried it again now. Works fine for me on several computer browsers, and also Safari and Chrome on my iPhone (but not Opera Mini). Would you guys care to try one more time, and see if you just hit a time when there was a backend issue?

Works for me.  But I'd like to see an easier way to input a date rather than typing it out.

You should use one of those cool controls that shows a calendar and allows you to change month and year easily.
Yeah, that would be a nice upgrade. Think you'll ever use or recommend the site now that you know about it, or not really? Would the visual calendar interface make it more likely, or just make it a little easier to use?
