Why can't I see any mention of Alipay for deposits or withdrawals in my Bitcoinica account?

For deposits I see the following options:

1. Bitcoin
2. Deposit by Bitcoinica Code (Instant)
3. Deposit by BitInstant (Instant)
4. Deposit by Mt. Gox Code (Instant)
5. Deposit by AurumXchange
6. Deposit by International Wire Transfer

For withdrawals I see the following options:

1. Bitcoinica Code
2. BitInstant
3. Mt. Gox Code (USD)
4. Mt. Gox Code (BTC)
5. Bitcoin
6. International Wire Transfer

No where is there a mention of Alipay.

Please advise.

Bitcoinica ended the support of Alipay deposits temporarily, several weeks ago. I've heard that it was because the cooperator on the Alipay side are afraid of the PRC government's anti-fundraising policy. But I've also heard that Zhou will find another cooperator in the near future.

Awesome, a feedzebirds campaign in English Wink

You also forgot to mention that Twitter is blocked in mainland China.

I hope someone launches a Chinese version of Feedzebirds for the Chinese version of twitter:  http://weibo.com/

If they have a simple enough API, I'm sure Ira can clone FZB and retrofit it for Weib API

Go Ira go!

This will be huge!
Will you also be supporting Alipay withdrawals?
I am going to tell all my vendors in China about this!

We will consider Alipay withdrawal option soon. Currently there's an API for mass payments, but it requires a service contract with Alipay.

When the CNY deposit volume is higher, we will have better chances of getting the service contract signed.

I suspect more of my vendors will be willing to accept payment in Bitcoins once they know that they can instantly cash out via Alipay.
Keep up the great work!

I just started a feedzebirds campaign.  Please help spread the word!

Isn't AliPay about as reversible as PayPal?

No, the root of all reversibility is the Visa/MasterCard credit card system used by Americans.

Chinese banking system is entirely different. Chinese people don't use Visa/MasterCard for domestic purchases, online payments require strict authentication, banks are usually not responsible for fund losses, etc.

Everything is very Bitcoin-like, and non-reversible.

More than half of Alipay's transactions are escrows.

Zhou, we can work together on this. If you need more volume, we can integrate Alipay into Bitinstant since we support all exchangers.

We will honor whatever fee you want to charge your customers.

Since were doing more than 2m a month, we can easily get a contract with them  Smiley

Or... you can tell your vendors all about Bit-pay as well. That gives them the option to cash out in BTC, CNY through Alipay or USD or other currency to a bank account of their choice. I agree with all of the above, though, this has the potential to be huge.

Omg this is fantastic! I believe that the main threshold that stops people in China from buying Bitcoin is that they don't know how to deposit via bitinstant or dwolla. Supporting Alipay is definitely great news for Bitcoin. Thanks Zhou!
