What does the Bitcoin community need to do next? What needs to be focused on for a larger adoption base? What do you all think?

Here I talk about what I believe Bitcoin needs to focus on: better liquidity, easier access, and developer integrations...

http://youmeandbtc.com/bitcoin-podcast/bitcoins-next-steps-and-john-stuart-ymb-podcast-e112/

I guess the step is still to improve the way bitcoin is used and the way how this new technology needs to be taught.

we need more professionals in the space and a way to improve the teaching process

We need nationwide businesses where buying bitcoins is as easy as buying a money order.

The US Post Office should sell bitcoins. Places that currently handle Western Union should sell bitcoins. Those machines where you dump change to get dollars should have an option to pay in bitcoins.

That's what we need.

Good point. Can't you already buy bitcoins at Western Union and Money Gram? (For example: https://wallofcoins.com ....)

Bitcoin need faster confirmation times, this is number first question.  Wink The second question - China mining farms are opening up - so BTC worldwide flow will go up.

What do you mean by "China mining farms are opening up"?

I think all efforts should be put into continuing making the core software as solid as possible and making Lightning Network work the best as possible. We shouldn't get too lost in usages that aren't the currency itself before we have LN working and we can start conquering the world with massive transaction levels. Of course im very excited for extravagant usages with sidechains and weird smart contracts but that should be after we get the currency part on point.

The crucial first step is to prevent any criminal activities to be associated with Bitcoin. If we can stop this bad publicity I think Bitcoin price will take off faster than usual and the mass adoption will be greater.

How do you suggest we do that? The community already created initiatives to offer bounties for people who caught scammers and hackers involved with Bitcoin crimes.

They also created sites to warn people against scam sites like, http://www.badbitcoin.org/ ... The people using the currency, should not be held responsible to do the

work for the authorities. How many companies and individuals do you see in the fiat world, getting involved to catch criminals using fiat currency? I think the 3rd

parties, like Coinbase / BitPay are already filtering out some of the bad actors.

i think the first step is up to us (the current bitcoin users) to introduce bitcoin to others. i have personally done that many times, some accept and some don't care.

but as others have pointed out, until some big services and other merchants start accepting bitcoin there is not much moving forward for bitcoin towards mass adoption.
I agree with you. It is our responsibility to promote and support bitcoin to the rest of the world, now a days there are some big marketplaces who decide to start accepting bitcoin, I think that will be good promotions for bitcoin.

We can ask merchants if they accept BTCitcoin as payment.  This will get them thinking that there are customers that want to pay by this method.  They may even ask what BTCitcoins is, and this is an opportunity to tell them about it.

Completely agree, I got into this world because a friend insisted and teached me some minor things and then is up to you if you continue and learn more about it. And now that I want to learn more and more, whenever I see someone asking for what is BTC I react and tell them everything I know! Some people like me felt like "difficult" or "boring" starting, sure getting into this is not easy, but once you know enough it's worth the time imo.

So as far as this continues I'll keep the chain and get more people into it!

We should try to avoid emphasis on gambling, speculation, faucets and illegal activities.

Work out a way to decentralise mining.

Speed up transactions by removing the 10 minute block creation barrier.

impossible it was designed in this way by satoshi, with big farm that run all the node, there will be an auto decentralization, due to the electricity limit of every zone, that's it's already a good compromise

Somebody with a bitcoin app or hardware should go on shark tank.

No, definitely not. Those people have limited IT knowledge, accept for Mark and they will apply that limited knowledge to the concept and kill adoption, because millions of people watch that, and believe those people have top knot knowledge about the topic.

I have seen many innovators with brilliant ideas going on there, and once it gets too technical, they get burnt. Not because the tech is bad, but because the Sharks think they know better. < Arrogance >

The "sharks" really do think they know better. In fact, I've realized that we all do believe that we know better--to some extent. The problem is that these individuals are trying to fit the bitcoin experience into the their current model of financial understanding. This is broken entirely for the bitcoin experience, and it is in itself an oxymoron. The financial model of bitcoin is much, much different...and a solution that has yet to be explored will likely be our answer!

It does not only need to fit in their current model of financial understanding, but more importantly it has to fit in their current methods of doing business and knowledge/partnerships.

The problem with a bitcoin app is that it is very unlikely that you are going to make a lot from it and that will instantly turn down the sharks. Unless you make some method of buying bitcoins directly in the app through the play store or something, that might actually work.

For mass adoption, all we can do as an individual is to convince merchants of using BTCitcoin services at least as one of their options (if not sole option). Another thing would be to voluntarily advertise somehow BTCitcoin on social networks like by means of rewarding people using BTCitcoin. As a brand or a company that works in this sector, we could merge into some other known companies that could help BTCitcoin integration better and facilitates faster adoption rate.

the thing that is important is the big companies and services start accepting bitcoin so that there is a real life application for bitcoin. so whenever i say bitcoin is a currency and they ask where can i spend it, i have a proper response!
i agree with you, we need more big company like microsoft, apple or some kind of reatil or supermarket start accepting bitcoin officially, i personally really love spend my bitcoin directly in store or minimarket for buy my needs, however the confirmation time is the problem, but i believe they will fix it soon

For use adopters, just continue to use and circulate our bitcoin.

The developers are the one who will make some changes in bitcoin. They know deeply what is better for bitcoin. Yes, debates are there but it's part of a wide brainstorming.
