I am just curious about the Twitter profile for Bitcointalk at this point, it has nearly 15k followers and has not been used for quite some time. Would be cool if someone would work out a plan on how to restore it effectively.

You're wrong, theymos is just 27 years old. If someone don't use social networks, it's not a reason to call him old, everyone has their views and preferences.
Sure, I just guess.
No one is the same as others, I just said the common different viewpoints and preferences between two generations, old and young.

If the admin has been actually 27 years old, he joined the crypto in his 17 year-old (more than ten years ago), amazing. It's very impressive.

If theymos wants to socialize bitcointalk little more, he should create an official btt account on instagram, right now its the best place to grow a community, but of course the account needs to be active for that.
Why Instagram account would be needed for Bitcointalk. I don't see how social networks would be beneficial for forums like Bitcointalk. Actually, online forums or Reddit is social media also.
I guess you are old person.
That is why you don't like, even don't mind using social  media channels; and recently you disable animated avatars in the forum.
Do I guess it right?

Twitter @bitcointalk is official, but I only use it for outage notices and such. If there are no problems, then there will be no @bitcointalk messages.

I don't use social media. If you think that some social media functionality would be useful (such as pointing to interesting posts), feel free to do it yourself. If it's an interesting project, I might be willing to create APIs to help you. But since I don't use these sites, I don't even know what people would want.

Anyway, I support your decision to disable animated avatars, that looks annoying.
The case become worse with animated avatars that have shortly repeated speeds.

I also remembered that months ago, you started a topic asks for demand of community on creating Bitcointalk's Youtube channel, there

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
It's better if we tackle every notices and updates here and AFAIK bitcoin forum seems a social media to me, to the rampant trolls and shitposts, some drama, sometimes even unprecedented fights too between members.

This forum seems the classic social media.

I certainly won’t be following any of them via my personal social media apps - discretion, OpSec etc.

I think theymos should choose a user he trust that would be responsible for finding good discussions, problem solving or good guides that have been posted on the forum, and making the link available using the twitter account. These shared topics could be watched with attention by the Mods so that the discussion remained at a high level.

We need to demonstrate that we still have high-level discussions here. And we can not expect people who are not immersed in the forum to find them.

Interesting how there is this Official BTCtalk Twitter account - https://twitter.com/bitcointalk Unfortunately it has not been very active lately. Do I talk with theymos about re-starting it again?

If there are any new ones that have popped up, let me know!
I know this thread is old, but I haven't heard of anything since you started it.  I don't use social media myself, but I'm pretty sure I would have heard something about a FB or Twitter happening for the forum around here.  Theymos did start a thread in Meta about maybe creating a Youtube channel, but that thread sort of died out with nothing being resolved as far as I remember.

Hi Pharmacist. The oldnes of something is very subjective and I feel like I posted it just yesterday Cheesy The reason why I am still on the look out is because we are going to launch our ICO project very soon and I want to utilize on all the available channels online to get our message out as far and wide as possible.

Isn't this forum itself is a social media? Is reddit have others social media account? Is Facebook have other social account ? I don't think so. Social media using for promote something. And I don't think this forum need to promote for invite new members. There will need new media managers where we don't have enough forum moderators. I think Twitter is enough that currently have for emergency announcement only if in case forum become offline.

It's debatable for BTCT (or forums in general) to be classified as true social media as other instances like FB and IG. The latter allows users to post whatever they like on their profile and openly interact with others. Forums are more centralized and restrictive because blogging or posting whatever you feel like posting might contribute to post spam (unless they support such feature).

So IMHO, forums could be considered one. albeit more rigid than SMs.

I am alive but in hibernation.
This forum does not come on top if you search for Bitcoin. You will find link to all kind of shill news media or shill YouTube videos. But somebody decide to dig further in crypto then user will find this forum.
I think Theymos does not spend anything to promote this forum and forum get new user due its content and ability to start a discussion here.

Yeah, a youtube channel isn't gonna go anywhere,  not unless the content is really good and attracts people. 99 bitcoins started theirs, and I can't tell if their channel helped people or not. Youtube is more or less starting to become hmmm.. old-fashioned, as some would say.

Theymos has an account on Reddit and I see some interesting discussions in r/bitcoin, where he is also a mod.

But that's not related to bitcointalk.but it's worth taking a look

Interesting discussions on Reddit ?  I go to crypto section there only when I am bored and want some laugh.

This twitter says that is the official account. But nobody posts anything there since November. I do not know if it is official as I didn't find any post from @cobra or @Theymos about this.

The Twitter handle was quite active at one point of time. Full of Tweets related to past hacks and attacks related to this forum.
That is probably because the forum kept getting hacked and was the subject of ddos attacks.

Cloudflare along with theymos’ Other countermeasures seems to have mostly stopped this. As bad as CF is for privacy, I suspect it does quite well against hacking attempts for a number of reasons.
