As an italian and hard core pizza lover, I am not sure I would eat any of those pizzas, maybe except for Rikafip one.

Really? Chicken on a pizza? Are you serious?

Hey fillippone, welcome to this topic Smiley As a fine connaiseur of Italian dishes, I know how pizza is made in Italy and how it is made in the rest of the world... Indeed, their recipes are different. Also indeed, the Italian pizza is great! With no offense to Italian cuisine, which I love a lot, I'd like to mention though that in other places original recipes were altered in time and people got accustomed with the altered ones...

I understand Pizza day needs to be properly celebrated, and I endorse GazetaBitcoin's effort in calling each topping for a reason....but too much is too much!

Grazie, I really appreciate this and I am happy you enjoyed the way I presented each topping Smiley I really put my imagination at work here and it amused me a lot Smiley Thank you very much for the support!

Here in Croatia (as in probably every other country except Italy) pizza places tend to put way too much stuff on it making some weird combos and trying to hide lack of material quality so when you grew up eating those kind of pizzas, classic margherita seems kinda tasteless. I remember the first time I went to Italy ( iirc it was the late 1990s) and tried their pizza, I was shocked and disappointed, as I was a kid used to eating pizza with tons of stuff on it, and there they gave me pizza with only mozzarella and tomato sauce, nothing more. But over the years and through experience you start appreciating quality material and less is more approach.

And then there is that abomination called "deep dish pizza" that is even worse than pinneapple on pizza, with the only difference that I actually tried one slice of that deep dish thing, and never again. That thing shouldn't even be called pizza imho, or as Jon Stewart in his rant said "It's a fucking casserole". Cheesy.

I'm glad that I read this. I thought it was just weird only to me when I see a lot of stuff on pizza. it seems to me that whatever you pour with tomato it's called pizza.
btw. when voting for this contest closes? you seem to be the first favourite.

I will try to post my entry next year!
Looking forward to your pizza next year, we definitely need more Italian members joining the contest to show how it's done the proper way Cheesy.

Regarding pizza toppings, when you start making themed pizza (and bitcoin themed pizza has to have something bitcoin related on it ), you soon realize that you have to make some compromise as not all material works well, and quite often what works well in theory/on the paper doesn't look nearly as good after it's baked.

I usually prefer very simple pizza, either neapolitan style pizza margherita or prosciutto pizza (also very simple pizza: only tomato, fresh mozzarella and after its baked few slices of proscuitto) but neither worked well (at least for me) when I tried to make something bitcoin themed. And then you have to start experimenting with materials that actually work.

Good example of that is one of my previous bitcoin pizza's (and probably my favorite one), where i wanted to make 10 BTC signs out of cheese as it was 10 years anniversary of the famous transaction so the only way really to do is to remove all cheese except the milner  (which I usually don't put on pizza as it doesn't melt good) used for those signs. Naturally, this pizza lacks cheese, but sometimes you have to make some compromises.

I agree, less is more when it comes to pizza toppings

I agree, less is more when it comes to pizza toppings (although I must admit GazetaBitcoin's pizza looks delicious.)  I'm really picky about pizza; none of that New York style cracker thin crust!  Sicilian style for me thank you, built as such: marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes and mushrooms are a must, and usually I add only one more ingredient like bell peppers, olives, sausage, or...  Barbequed chicken.  Believe it or not, BBQ chicken is pretty damn good on pizza.

While I personally have nothing against that, you should probably question yourself why do you want to join a contest on a platform you're not interested in joining, or reading said contest rules.

I think I was a bit confused about the rules, at the beginning. For some reason I thought the contest is held here. But anyway, thank you for explaining things. I joined Discord and I posted there my submission.

I personally don't have anything against @GazetaBitcoin joining the contest. The more the merrier Smiley

Hehe, thank you for your support, Rikafip! I just posted my submission there. I'd also like to congratulate you for your extremely well looking pizzas! Man, you seem to be an expert of this domain! You have my respect for that!

I'm not Italian, but I think that Pizza with pineapple have special place in hell, lol Cheesy
Couldn't agree more, it's just unnatural combo that I don't wanna try, even though some people (including my wife lol) says its great.

Voting started but if you're really interested and people have nothing against it you could join as a late submission, however some of the other entries already have votes.

That photo should also be posted in the #pizza-day-event-2021 channel.

Oh I did not know. Thank you for pointing this out. Small question: I don't have a Discord account... Is it okay if someone else would post there my photos for me?

You do you. Should that person win tho, you also need to trust them with giving you the prize.

Slava Ukraini!
Damn, I haven't realized that 22th May is Bitcoin Pizza Day. It's nice way to celebrate it.
I'm terrible at kitchen, so, it's better not to see pizza made by me Cheesy.
Regarding pineapple on your pizza, beware of our Italian members, they won't be happy to see that Cheesy

But I guess there is two type of people - these who love pizza with pineapple and these who hate it Cheesy.

I understand where you are leading ... but I can assure you that although I did not take other photos, that evening I also baked pizza "pepperoni" and "4 cheeses". I just didn't have a metal mold to leave a red-hot bitcoin trail on every piece of sausage, so I preferred to make bitcoin from Pineapple (it is also yellow-orange / lol).
Yeah it ain't easy to find something that usually goes on pizza, it has yellowish colour, and can keep the shape without melting. Few years ago when I made my first BTC themed pizza I also contemplated on using pineapple as its a logical choice, but since I don't like it on pizza, and I wanted it to be tasty as well looking good, I started experimenting with cheeses. Through  trial and error i found that Milner cheese is capable of withstanding  the heat well, while having nice yellow color. Halloumi cheese is even better for that, but it is white, so BTC sign doesn't look as good as with Milner. Still an option though.

[/i] Regarding Italian cuisine ... I recommend contacting bitbollo, he once gave me a great lasagna recipe.
Haha, as a matter of fact lasagna is my specialty and I make it quite often. I am generally big fan of Italian cuisine, which is probably the best in the world, imho.

Unfortunately, I was never domesticated properly and thus have no skills in the kitchen, else I would participate and craft a pie (that's American slang for pizza) with a giant BTC in it.  Probably not out of pineapple, however.  Olives or mushrooms might be my choice, and I'd probably make a white pizza too.
Its never too late to start. I started making pizzas because when I lived in one small town for a couple of years, and they only had one pizza place, and it was awful. Since I am a big fan of pizza, I simply decided to make one by myself. And after some time and bunch of ruined pizzas, managed to make one that i liked. Cheesy

It still blows my mind thinking about the first pizza being purchased with 10k bitcoin.  That was over a decade ago, but that period of time seems like yesterday to me.  Who'd have thought bitcoin would have hit $65k in 2021?  Probably no one.  Certainly not Laszlo, of the pizza-buying fame.  Crazy, eh?
I think no one, including Satoshi. Bare in mind, Laszlo continued to buying pizzas with bitcoin as he said "I will trade 10,000 BTC for 2 of these pizzas any time as long as I have the funds (I usually have plenty)"

One post from that famous thread was indeed prophetic

Will this eventually become the world's first million-dollar pizza?

THEYMOS: I need more sMerits, especially having read this thread!

The pizzas on this page don't appeal to me (I'm very picky when it comes to toppings), but the spirit of bitcoin is strong in them and that's the point.  All of them are admirable in that respect, even if I wouldn't think of eating any of them.  Lol.

I congratulate everyone on Bitcoin Pizza Day! My bachelor pizza is certainly not as beautiful as Rikafip's but it was made by me  Grin
That's the most important thing, so kudos on that! As someone who likes making pizzas, I can appreciate the effort needed and invested in even basic pizza, let alone something themed. Regarding pineapple on your pizza, beware of our Italian members, they won't be happy to see that Cheesy

If we think about it, we should probably be more grateful to Laszlo not for popularizing Bitcoin, but for adapting it to macOS.
