As far as I know, there's already a mobile app existing and you can download it in the playstore but I I'm not sure if it's legit or just a phishing app. (Check it for yourself)

Having a mobile app is a good idea because it provides new option for all of us and many users who access this forum through their smartphones will now enjoy a simpler interface of the forum. But honestly this is not necessary anymore since it also works well in mobile browser (zooming in and zooming out is not a big deal) and besides, I guess using a mobile browser is more practical than the app. Like for signature campaigns, you only need to open a new tab for downloading the avatar comparing to the app where you also need to open a browser in order to download it and go back to the app itself, greater load of work right?

I was just thinking since most of the people nowadays are using smartphones in all sorts of activities and all sorts of apps are now being used in our daily routine such as for emails, social media and etc. Can we also develop a mobile app for bitcointalk in both platforms iOS and Android?  for a much better way of accessing this forum.

Please advise if there is already an app or a topic that has already been posted regarding this. I am new to bitcoin by the way.

Well I'm not aware on this , bitcointalk on a mobile app I think sooner or later if the moderators will approved it though , it can have a good effect though , it's more applicable and a lot of easier if this would be implemented though.

I don't think that having a BCT mobile app is necessary because I am already accessing the forum nicely without any problem. All the basic things I can do such as posting and reading threads. But if you are looking for things such as making my post more effort such as putting images and editing the post design is not a good idea if you are making it in the phone as it could add more time compared to making it in your computer.

It will be great if this will happen. By the way, the site works perfectly on a browser so adding an app might be redundant. I am satisfied with the forum even if its on chrome. If they will create an app there should be additional features that can't be done using a broswser. I think they can add an feature were there is a word count on everytime we write or reply to a topic. Its really needed. If its already available, please let me know. That will be a huge help. Thank you.

Even the site works perfectly on a mobile browser, the only thing that I can do is to read threads and posts. I still prefer using a laptop or desktop when posting, as it makes my life easier to navigate the forum and browse crypto-related news and events which I can share on this site, that will make my posts more meaningful and interesting to others. A mobile application of this site will become handy for those members that are on the GO, in order to keep track of the threads that they follow and be updated within the forum.

I like the idea of having a word counter when making posts. But, I do think it will make the poster much more aware of the word count rather than quality, sense, uniqueness, and idea.

Guys - relax.

There will be no mobile app until we move to the new forum.  Why make an app for this old outdated software?

I think so too, this SMF version is outdated, the development of new and more secure forums we really need and support the activities of members in it. I am very supportive of staff and moderator moves who want to develop this forum for better and longer term use without much patching old bug software. credit for you sir.

not a bad idea since a lot of people nowadays are using bitcointalk daily and they need some app which easier to use better than the browsers but to make this idea real you have to get the access to the database of the forum means it is required to have the access to all personal information of every user in the forum such as passwords and emails, which impossible and the only person capable of this is Theymos.

The bitcointalkforum is one of the mobile friendliest forums. You just should use the right browser in the right way.
Working mobile browser for Bitcointalk:
- Opera Mobile
- Google Chrome Mobile
- Default Android Browser
- Penguin Browser
Open Bitcointalk and make a shortcut to homescreen. So you have your app.
If you don't want to scroll left and right, then use Opera mobile or penguin. Posts are fitted to screen with smooth site interface.

Mobile application and browser is different i know that you know it since you answer it already in your first paragraph.
Bitcointalk do not need to have application we can open it freely using many browsers and me myself are satisfied what this forum is.

I really dont think it that way because its your own responsibility to keep your own things into safety, and if you're just some lazy careless dude and that will be your own problem not for the other members here in the community.
You are right. But I guess you know yourself how this section is full of threads "help, my account is hacked/stolen". I just supposed that with that app the number of such threads will only increase.

Currently I am in the situation in which I have to used my phone on posting most of the time. And it is indeed pretty though. Especially if you need to quote multiple posts.

Agree, but an app is of course another platform so basically it is not that the app is intended for this old platform since both are independent programs. Tho I have seen the new forum that you were talking and it is mobile responsive so making an app is not necessary.

Vod, I have found some application are still available on Google Play Store which is lesser than 10MB.
Those are not working anymore since the addition of the captcha at the login page.

Since it is a third party application will it be fine to access via that kind of application?
You can't really know if they are storing your password when you login. So you had to trust them.

If there is such an app, it would be nice for all the users since I think all of us have smartphones. WIth this some kind of app we'll have an easy access through our forum and no need to wait to load a page from a browser that even take some time. We also find it as a drag and although we are used to it,... its still a hassle thing to do thats why we already have it in our bookmarks to load it eventually. I just hoped that in the future time the admins will create an app for the forums accessibility for the users.

Don't you guys think that with the possibility to have Bitcointalk app in our phones the risk of hacked/stolen profiles will raise?
I really do not see any special need in the app, cause of it is not so hard to just open a browser on the phone and log in.

we better use the default browser android or other browsers, because if I think when we are in bitcointalk more secure use the browser do not use the application because it is too risky.
indeed if in terms of efficiency certainly in the application will be better but for security I can not guarantee.
It will be more secure in the mobile application than in the browser because browser lets you save your credentials on different websites even if you used a laptop or a computer to log-in to a certain website since most of us sync our Gmail to various devices we handle. Unless you make sure that your browser will not save it or disable the Google Password.

Having a mobile application would facilitate user usability in the forum.

But if this platform will be migrated the best alternative would be to wait.
