It is a thing that you have to compare and see the pros and cons when you are late registering. Either you will play for another 1 or 1.5 hours extra time which will make anyone a bit bored by the end since it takes a long time to finish the whole thing so being a bit more fresh does give you a leg up over everyone else, or you are going to start early and will have more chips because you will come that far by beating some other people and getting their chips as well.
So, which one you would prefer is personal and not really same for every two person, some people may prefer to be a bit more fresh and late reg for it or some people may want more chips, both of which does have amazing pros and bad cons and I wouldn't have the courage to say one is right while the other is wrong.
I guess that feature is not designed to be pros and cons but rather those who can't play at the agreed time. Yeah, it could be done like that but just hoping that it is not more on the advantageous side just to be on the game longer since this is a tournament and whoever stands until finished regardless he owns a low amount of chips will still win or make a place.
