@tranthidung I hate to burst your bubble, but that's the very thing I was getting at in my thread:

[BitCoinTalk][COVID-19] Grim Reality 19 March 2020, 21:40:54

and it's Honour Roll 19 March 2020, 21:41:32

I see someone else this week has come up with the same idea.

satoshi's name with these three passed away users feels like satoshi also passed away. At least that's what I felt until I read that :

Quote
they don't need to have death confirmations to be here
May be you need to have some separate sections like:

Confirmed death
Inactive for years
Active and going strong.

I am not going with it because the key point is what we learn from their lessons, their contributions. Being actively/ inactively or death does not make sense. I already states it in OP so if ones carefully read it will knows not all users posted in the Hall have passed away. And when they actually care to learn from those outstanding users, they sure discover how those ones are actively or inactively. I am not going with too much details because it is better to reserve open space for readers to discover, practice and do their own works.

Anyway, thank you.

I highly highly advise you to remove the "Real name" column. Everyone should have privacy, even in the afterlife. Thank you, and thank you for doing this.  Smiley
Ok. I will do it later, Lauda. I have same reason why I don't include pass-away date. We don't need to dig for such details.

In my life, I have read some inspirational stories, that motivate me and give me strength to keep moving forwards more positively. In real life, it is the Steve Jobs' speech at the Standford university in 2005. On the forum, the first motivational stories I read are about satoshi and Hal Finney.

Recently, the forum lost one of the oldest and most established users, Bruno. Honestly, I did not know him and have never contacted with him but I saw his accounts sometimes in the past. That's all I knew before I read his plead weeks ago and related replies from our community. It motivates me that if one user is a great asset of the forum, he or she will be recognized by the forum community and will stay in our memory forever.

I also read about Zepher who passed away in 2018 and the community missed him too.

Today, I made this thread, namely "Bitcointalk's Hall of fame" for the first four users. The Hall of fame is for outstanding users of the forum, and they don't need to have death confirmations to be here. Of course, I don't expect more users will be here but it is life and we will have to witness others pass away.

Local rules:
It is a Hall of fame, so please:
  • Don't troll here
  • Only use nice words as our respect to them

To keep the thread clean from troll, bad words, I created it as a self-moderated one.

Thank you.
