I guess it is his perception of Bitcoin. You cannot push your belief and make other people accept it and throw away their own belief. Or maybe he is just sour graping after that lost. Though I guess that lost is actually nothing compared to his stash of Bitcoins.

This is not matter of perception though. Everyone will see this as real money for sure and of course he will realize this too but instead of losing all his balance, he will make really huge bet like double from his basebet to continue or to stop. And of course it can't be compared to what he got though. Far too much and this will become nothing to him
