If they are reported to law enforcement agencies, would it be possible to get hold of our accounts again? Could those agencies take ownership of their website and unblock user accounts? My account is blocked, but I can see my balance is still there, I can see it on the trading page.

Hi, more than a year I watch the prices for Cryptocomchain (CRO) on the website WorldCoinIndex. The first exchange on which they offer to trade is the BiteBTC exchange. I clicked on the link, registered, passed verification, transferred  tokens CRO, exchanged for ETH and wanted it returned to my Crypto.com wallet.

Good Day,

Thank you for sharing your findings. We appreciate where you are coming from, especially since it springs from good intentions. We actually issued an alert on the BiteBTC page in Jan 2019.

Even though we try our best to verify the data with the projects on our site, we are not in the practice of censoring or policing others as that would be antithetical to the raison d'être of the decentralization movement - self-sovereignty . In an open ecosystem like the one we are in, we believe that the best policy – that we follow closely – is to over-provide on data and let users make their own informed choices about what to do with that data.

Consequently, the presence of a project on our site does not constitute an implicit endorsement of its merits.

We have always encouraged our users to perform their own due diligence.
This is particularly important because the unregulated and cross-border nature of this space makes it difficult to seek recourse.
The challenges of drawing the appropriate conclusions are explained in this blog post.

However, we understand that these concerns are valid and have implications on the community and the impressions that people have about the crypto space. Going a step further, we will be progressively updating our site to be even more in line with our view that users should be given the power to experience and use the data in a way that fits their needs most.

Underscoring our commitment to remaining neutral by avoiding censorship and judgement of the (de)merits of specific projects, we believe that there is value in publishing a wider array of data points to enrich the decision-making process of our users. You may have noticed that we recently added a ‘Ratings’ tab on our site. Going forward, and in the spirit of mitigating centralized points of failure, you can expect to see additional data sources. One example would be adding metrics to evaluate exchanges such as liquidity measures, hot/cold wallet balances, and traffic data. For instance, if an exchange with low traffic has $300M volume and just 5 BTC in its wallet, users will be able to draw their own conclusions without the need for us to make arbitrary judgment calls on what is 'good' or 'bad'.

On 1 May 2019, we announced the launch of DATA (Data Accountability & Transparency Alliance) to bring some of these ideas to fruition.

Again, we want to state that our philosophy is to provide as much information as possible to our users, so that they can form their own conclusions and interpretations – and not introduce our own bias into that mix. As more data points get added on the site, it is important not to be lulled into a false sense of security - the push for greater transparency would only be useful insofar as one is willing to perform the requisite due diligence.

The tricky thing is that most of the issues with exchanges can only be discovered ex-post. Consider an example where an exchange has malicious intentions. Even if one were to perform tiny 'test trades and withdrawals' on the platform successfully, it could still mask the issue of fractional reserves which would only become apparent when users attempt to withdraw larger amounts en-masse. As you can see, the only viable solution in the long term is individual risk management (limiting one's exposure on exchanges; not your keys, not your crypto) and due diligence, which has to calibrated according to one's own risk profile and circumstances.
Sincerely,
CoinMarketCap Support

Bitebtc are scammers.
I become some airdrops at Bitebtc  exchange. This is the way I knew it. I liked it very much, and sended over more coins to this exchange, to trade for other coins. The withdraw was expensive and therefor, I never tried to withdraw. IBut when I had 0.02 BTC, and I wanted to whitdraw, I become a mesage saying that they blocked my account because I did not cumply whit the terms and contitions of the exchange, and that I can not claim at all their desition.
I never had a problem, during 2 months, and the day that I placed an order to withdraw, I become this message and they blocked my account and keeped all my balance.
I readed before that they where scammers, but I thought this won´t happen to me. But now, I beleive that they scam everybody. Make a try and place an order to withdraw and you will see it.
They are fucking scammers.....

Guys, file a complaint against BiteBTC with CoinMarketCap here:

https://coinmarketcap.com/request/

Provide them a link to this thread and your own personal experience with them.

Perhaps a mass influx of requests will help them take action.

we did sent several messages to CMC already, the FREE coin even did sent a twitter asking other victims to also complaint to CMC

CMC answers everytime with a message that they are only a "data aggregator", that they already give a warning on the page of BiteBTC, and that there is nothing more they can do ...
